New Todd interview from German site Part 2

Post » Tue Nov 17, 2009 6:06 pm

Oh ok. I could live with that.

I hope it is still in and much improved. But I can just see it happening, they seem to like throwing stuff away instead of fixing it.

Right, because they don't add anything, just subtract.

As long as H2H is still in, it won't bother me if it's a skill or not.

Here's a new link with video. :) Sorry if it's already posted. It's not a new video but a new article about the interview.

Necromancers should definitely be joinable. And, if you complete both Necromancers and Mages Guild quest lines, you should be able to re-integrate necomancy into Mages guild, with all political consequences that come from this.

no le-vi-tate???

also: Even though I will most likely be playing on 360 first(PS3 maybe depending on what the differences look like closer to launch), I will still look forward to the future when I can actually own a PC that could run Skyrim with full settings and a mod for open world cities with no loading gate in which dragons may come in and actually attack from time to time.

Really, really hope Elders Scrolls VI can have something like this.

I think it's safe to say TES VI will be a next gen title.

Still nothing on hand to hand combat. I wonder what it will be like with the new Havok Behavior?

If I had to guess, I'd say that they probably dropped hand-to-hand. From a design point, I can see them struggling with how someone is supposed to kill a dragon with nothing but their bare hands.

So I can't do anything with my hands when both of them are free and I don't have any spells or weapons equipped? Absurd.

When playing MW or OB the only time I ever used my fists to fight was when I had to (part of the quest or whatever). I can seriously live without punching in a game full of melee weapons and spells.

How absurd would it be if pressing the triggers did nothing while we are unequipped?

Interesting guess, but...

No hand-to-hand? That'd be sad. I liked hand-to-hand. It has always been a kinda unrealistic skill, but it was still fun and part of the series... I don't expect them to drop it.

- Todd confirms walls with loading on larger cities, haven't heard the rest yet.

Come on, Bethesda....

Did you learn nothing from Oblivion?

Bruma was so out of place with those giant walls, and now you're doing it AGAIN?

Oblivion could take open cities just fine. I see no reason why Skyrim should not.

I think it's not a case of wanting to, but being able to. Blame this generation. Or consoles. Whichever you prefer to blame.

Yes, this is a big disappointment. The consoles may be the same, but they had so much development time, they should have solved this issue. Walls svck big times for a thief like me. They hurt my gameplay.

He said it was impossible to have open cities because the current gen consoles weren't powerful enough to handle them.

Nothing they could do about it.

Too much AI in the open world would absolutely DESTROY the consoles CPU.

Still, nothing that our army of modders can't fix, after all. :)

Thumbtack_Jack: Console CPUs are actually extremely powerful, they were cutting edge when they were released, and PC CPUs have only very recently caught up with them.

And a lot of their PC audience as well.

Is there any other game of this scope (open world) that features open cities on the current gen consoles?

True. But PC player can scale back other things to make it run smoother (as well as lower poly mods).

I thought the npcs were small in numbers even in the big cities. If the population is about the same as oblivion's and the cities are still walled, then it means there is no progress in this department.

Good thing there will be more than and they'll be doing a lot more to add to the atmosphere.
