~Summary~

Todd likes people who like Morrowind

-Talks about why he directed the way the games felt

-Talks about skyrim's feel (between OB and MW)

-Talks about the systems limitations

-BIG NOTE: Bigger cites will still have walls that load you

-More traps

-More Puzzles

-120 dungeons, over 100 Points of interest (alters and such)

-talks about creatures, nothing new really

-Nothing really changed about the gods, deadric princes to make a show

-Men hates elves, shows up in the quests (more flavor)

-sneak skill

-npc animations for jobs

-animations work for players

-npc jobs for the player are more like diversions, some have menus

-smithing confirmed to make armor/weapons

-alchemy "works a bit differently than in Oblivion"

-Most interesting items come out of skill based crafting, versus the diversion ones.

-dungeons to be more interesting

-1/2 of dungeons to be "small" 15 minutes, some to be "epic" dungeons 1hr+ length

-talks about how they use guilds to make the game the "ultimate warrior/wizard/thief/stealth game"

Wait... The 5 major cities are walled? As in seperate cells???? This is horrible news!!!!!
Yeah, walled cities aren't bad. Unless they are in separate cells.

Hi Scrollers,

Apologies if this is not new, but Todd mentions a couple of things I've not heard yet: such as Giants having camps and being mammoth-herders, and talking about crafting submenus etc.

Enjoy!

aaaaarrrrggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!! not loading!!! can someone summarize it!!!! please <3

Trying to walk the line between the alien feel of Morrowind and the traditional fantasy feel of Oblivion.
Walled cities with loading screens confirmed.
Lots more traps and "spacial puzzles"
currently around 120 dungeons
Well over 100 POI's, or Points of Interest (probably random encounters)
Giants have camps, herd mammoths
creatures are made believable, and actually feel like they live in the world (i.e. giants and their camps)
elks confirmed
Gods and daedric princes are still in and most make appearances
Planes of Oblivion still a big part of the world of Skyrim
Landmass is about the same size as Oblivion, flow of exploration made different by mountains
Same playable races as Oblivion
Racism present, similar to Morrowind (Nords don't like Elves)
Sneak skill confirmed
Sneak system similar to Fallout, NPCs search for you rather than instantly spot you
Player can do all activities NPCs can do (cooking, making armor, making weapons, cutting wood, mining, and working leather were mentioned) (described as "fun little diversions")
Cooking system uses a menu
Crafting for each major disciplines (magic crafting is enchanting, combat crafting is smithing, and stealth crafting is alchemy)
Alchemy works "a bit differently than Oblivion"
Visually or design wise, each dungeons plays out differently
Some dungeons could take 15 minutes, others could take 1-2 hours to go through

NICE!

I don't care if the big cities are walled, THIS totally makes up for it.

There will be cooked AND uncooked foods.

This was confirmed several months ago, we even got pictures of concept art for the uncooked versions.

Walled cities confirmed.

Yep. And Todd's reasoning was basically that the current gen systems don't have enough memory to handle each city being in one global cell.

*Insert comment about consoles limiting game development freedoms and abilities here*

Oh well. Nothing that a mod on the PC can't fix.

Can someone PLEASE make a complete list with bullet points listing the pieces of info said in the interview? I can't get the video to work.

Did you try the HD version linked below:

Nice!
- Necromancers Confirmed!
- a lot of the Nine Divines and Daedra make an appearance, including some interesting unique quests
- racism and racial conflicts between Nords and Elves involving specific quests
- sneak uses eyeball that opens and closes (similar to FO3 caution danger etc.)
- alchemy redesigned, will explain later interesting differences with Oblivion
- half of the dungeons are small (15 minutes), half the dungeons are larger and some are epic 1-2 hour dungeons
- much more "adventure-game type" puzzles than in previous TES games
- greatly improved traps

Not so nice...Todd's description of the racial faction conflict quests as being "more for flavor, not something that will lock you in to one side or the other" Hmm... I was really hoping we would be forced to take sides in some of the faction quests.

Here is a direct link to the higher res version of the interview

Doubtful. Is there even a mod for Oblivion that gets rid of this crap on that game?

They likely are. At worst, it's the 5 largest cities. At best, it could be only be 1-3 of the "Biggest".

Still, it's the first discernibly "Bad" news so far. Not a particularly big deal though, especially if they're all roughly the size of The Imperial City. I just hope I can get a residence in a small, un-celled village somewhere, instead of a big city.

The exact words are:

"...our bigger cities still have walls that load you..."

So I think definitely Windhelm. Perhaps Markarath too. It's best to just assume all 5 are going to be at least one load screen though.

All cities are walled?

Just the 5 largest ones...of course we have barely any scope of how big a city is and how big a town is since the provinces we saw in the trailer werent labeled
