New Vegas Book

Post » Tue Apr 13, 2010 9:12 am

Has anybody here got it? As somebody new to the Fallout series and only just on level 2 of New Vegas Im worried that Im stumbling along doing things without depth of understanding thats needed to fully appreciate the game and make informed choices. I dont want to finish this game through luck and ignorance. With that in mind is the book nessescary for gameplay and understanding. Also I dont understand why this game has generated so much negativity. I never played Fallout 3 so have nothing to measure it by but so far it looks like it has the potential to be the best game I ve played.

Well first of all I just want to say welcome to the fallout series and be prepared to spend many hours with this game and IMO I would continue to do it without the book it may seem hard now but the farther yoy get the easier and better understanding of the game you will have also the book will spoil some of the game and I find it Much rewarding just to stumble upon secret stuff sucb as unique weapons

When I clicked on the post I thought you were talking about the New Vegas BOOK "All Roads" while in truth you meant the GUIDE. In my opinion it would be fine to use the guide for information on building a good character and to look up weapon stats, but for the quests and locations of New Vegas it would be much more enjoyable to figure that stuff out on your own for the first and/or second playthrough.

The Collector's Edition guide has 32 extra pages and it's mostly just extra concept art and background information on various factions and the currencies within the game. If you plan to buy the guide try to get the Collector's. I really enjoyed the extra information and it was only a few extra dollars.

I think you'll find as all of the patches are released for New Vegas a lot of the negativity will dry up and you won't see anymore negativity than you did in Fallout 3.

I hope this post has been detailed enough to answer your questions.

As for stumbling upon awesome things in New Vegas...
Spoiler
I found the 50 Caliber Sniper Rifle called the Anti-Materiel Rifle. This thing is AMAZING.

Thanks, maybe your right. I did RDR without a book. I just didnt want to miss deep things in the game and side quests. However I guess walkthroughs and maps will become more available on the net as time goes on.

Thanks Mr Axe. Yeah Im meant the guide. Maybe it is best to figure things out as you go along. It just seems this game is so deep that it would be easy to complete without fully understanding dilemas and implications, yet alone hidden quests and locations.

I have the guides for both FO3 and FONV. Both of them can be extremely helpful, but it's too easy to catch sight of this spoiler or that. Unfortunately, the internet will be the same on most sites you look them up on. On the other hand, you're absolutely right that locations, side quests, and collectibles can be easily missed. My advise would be to do as much as you can without help, but be ready to ask for it if you need to. I'm sure there are many of us who would be more than happy to help with your adventures, and the guides are worth the caps if you go that route. Good luck to you, and just have fun with it.
