New Vegas Factions.

Post » Mon Jan 19, 2009 10:38 pm

Well, let's just try this out then.

Let's break it down into these questions:

1. What is your favorite faction in New Vegas?
2. Which one would you like to control Vegas?
3. Which one would you like to control Mojave?
4. Which one would you like to control entire Core Region and Arizona?
5. Which one do you think has the best key-ring parties?
6. Feel free to explain in detail as to why you believe that [faction] is best suited for the job. :)

Have fun discussing and turning this into another Legion VS NCR discussion. -_-'

Note: I added House and Yes Man because if I didn't people would just start complaining about it so now they're up there and ain't going away.

7. Hmm, what faction from FO1, FO2 or Van Buren would you like to have been included in New Vegas that wasn't?

BoS. They arnt corrupt, they arnt slaving murderers, and they have contact with the outside world. If they were to control NV they would probably have to start making alliances like with the NCR and accepting new members though

Favorite faction?

NCR is too much like a modern government – depressing in their realism. Legion are interesting, but I think the presentation of them was poorly executed in the game. They were too shallow; you didn’t really get to see their culture or how they lived.

I’d want an independent Vegas. Wish the Khans could stick around to help guard it – I liked them. . .for some reason. I would ignore the BoS as long as they stayed in their hole, and I’d do my best to clean up the trash that run the strip with my Securitron army. The Boomers. . .I thought they were just dumb. House - no one deserves to live for that long.

As for a faction I WANTED to see:

I’ve already said this, but the Daughters of http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Hecate belonged in NV. The NCR wasn’t supposed to be the legion’s main enemy – the daughters were – so the war never made a lot of sense to me. For some reason they included the Vipers in the game (supposed to be the Hounds of Hecate) but made them so weak they were a joke. They needed a faction with magical mysticism like Hecate and it would have given Caesar an actual foil.

Ah well.

Did Veronica's quest not long ago and as long as the current Elder (whatshisname... McNamera? ) is in charge they will refuse to do anything.
And hell even if Hardin becomes new leader he still won't accept new members and they definitely won't make allies considering how everyone else are "lesser humans not fit for the technology".
If they were to be reconnected with the other chapters then yeah I'd say they'd be a faction not to mess with, but currently, they're dying out.

1. Khans, an old friendpsychoenemy faction that finally gets some love in game, just a pity it's not more.

2. None of the above, all factions are pretty much going to screw things up anyway.
House seems the most likely to rule, and you get the feeling he'll be best.
Then you think about the next game in the series and know in your heart that it won't be all daffodils and honey even with him as canon.

3. Free Mojave, free people, free love.
No one owns it, it's not even remotely tame, anyone that thinks they own it will get a shock very quickly.

4. Legion without little caesar, I really want to see what they get up to when off his silly leash of archaic nonsense.

5. Make a FolloKhanopaclypse faction and I'll nick every key, key chain, fob, lock, bolt, screw and bicycle spoke in the country for that party.

6. Nope, not enough choice on your poll.

7. No suprise talking Wannamingos.

They made an alliance with the NCR, in my playthrough who they lost half their members too. I think thats a step in the right direction. And i think they ARE a faction not to mess with. NCR, CL , and house all want to destroy them and all admit that they would have a high number of casualties in fighting them

Sorry I was being facetious.
Trying to tug those fishy toes a bit.

Of the hostiles, I like all the old ( but not included prior to NV ) tribal gangs.
Vypers and Jackals, I just wish more content involved them somehow.

Ah yeah, heard about the alliance with NCR, only done NCR path once and I killed Brotherhood before I knew there was another way. :(
Well considering I've been able to slaughter them by myself every playthrough I'd say they are pretty weak, then again, gameplay =/= lore.

Youre joking right? The brotherhood are the only challenge in the game. When i destroyed them for my legion playthrough, i tried to kill them all with firepower, didnt work as unlike NCR, every single member is well armed and armoured. The only easy way to destroy them in to blow up the bunker and even that has dangers with you running out of the bunker without getting killed by anyone

House ftw.
Gun unners are best, considering the van graff guy glitcjed and is never tere, and I killed the van graffs...
Chairmen, they arent canibals, and the Omertas are just backstabers. Allthough there arent many cannibalistic white glove, the charimen have been the one family to remain domesticated.
Fiends. They give me good loot to sell.

Not really, wasn't that hard for me to kill them all, maybe on my first playthrough but on every playthrough after that one it was easier.
Not "easy" easy mind you, was a little bit of a challenge but still not too hard for me to do.

No worries I fail at being humorous all the time ( and splling ), so we all can't be perfect at everything.

One thing I've just noted, I tend to like those that had little to do with the game more than those that were central.
Another awkward trait discovered to go on the list.

Gun runners for what they say, and how they act in general.

None of the casino factions really does anything for me,.
If they had sticky fingers everywhere it would have been more fun.

I would rather fight all of Camp Mcarren than the BoS bunker, or the legion camp including Ceaser. I can take them out at level 10 while the BoS demand a well armed level 20 guy

BoS are tougher, damn gauss weapons. but they go down easy enough with AP rounds or a pulse weapon.

Hey, this isn't locked yet. Good.

On topic,

1. I would have to say NCR since they try to peacefully arrange their plans. Even though they're flawful, they're on the right track. Kinda.

2.New Vegas...probably the FotA for they're loving support. Even though they'll screw it up after a month or so, but in style.

3.The Legion is my pick for the Mojave. Good commander, not so good people, and flag costumes.

4.The Legion again because they'de be good for Arizona.

5.NCR.

7. Children of the Cathederal

They're leading the hostile vote, so I pressume the ghosts are DM's enemy #1.
Are they those hologram projections on the vid?

Wish Legion used more throwing spears, hell, I wish there was a third party tribal group using tribal gear exclusively.
I mean, before House Vegas and it's surrounding area was conquered by tribals right?
Then where are they?
I know civilization was brought to the wastes but there have to be one tribal group still holding true to their origins right?

1. Well, Legion of course.

2. For New Vegas specifically, ignoring the rest of the wasteland (Arizona, Core Region, Mojave) I'd say Kings.
They have the hearts in the right places, all they need is some more firepower to keep others like The Three Families in check.

3. For Mojave Wasteland specifically, ignoring Arizona and Core Region I'd say Bright Brotherhood.
They aren't afraid of using weapons and all they want to do is to make the world a better place but feel they can't due to the bigotry.
With the help of Jacobstown and The Great Khans I bet they could control the mojave, making it a mutant friendly wasteland accepting all mutants and non-mutants.
Why Great Khans? Well, they need one human faction as an ally and I consider them the best for their survival knowledge.

4. Legion, this is for humanity and civilization as a whole, when it comes to that I believe that the ends justify the means, so Legion all the way, they'll be the one's to restore the world to a better state.
Will take time, and a lot of people will suffer, A LOT, but in the end something beautiful will blossom out of it.

5. Legion, strapping young lads in skirts. :hubbahubba:

7. Unity with Lou Tenant in charge.
While FEV is either gone or in the hands of Shi I would think Lou's goal would be to find a way to fix what Master couldn't.
Fix more FEV by getting the research data and the chemical components to produce more, then ally themselves temporarily with Reservation in order to discover a solution to their sterility.

Yeah. Ifind it funny, that I find gun casings. But any thrown weapons just vanish. Should be reusable imo. Say each one can be recovered. But has X throws before breaking, unless kept repaired.
Poision is great. But I dont want to have to go right up to a deathclaw to bypass its DT.
