Maybe in 9 months, although that's assuming they release more DLC's.

Considering the minimal risk of Bethesda going bankrupt, I would say it shall be around in maybe less than a year.
Knowing it is indeed a good way to further increase profit, therefore = more great games coming out!

Spoken like a good capitalist

Definitely a contender for Game of the year

Though I can't say I've played enough games that were published during the same year as F:NV so I can't say how it measures up :P

If it wasn't for the Bugs/Glitches this game would've been in the conversation. It's still the best game that I've played last year and that includes ME2 and Red Dead Redemption.

Do you think that the bugs and issue will be a major gripe in the chances of it being released as a game of the year edition?

Nope, Fallout 3 had similar issues and they still released it for GOTY (Although that's because it did win GOTY and got Patches that fixed some of the problems). New Vegas will be no different, The Patches should be ready by that point, The rest of the DLC's should be release, so I see nothing wrong with them having an GOTY/Ultimate Edition version plus it gets the Developer more money.

The bugs and glitches didn't really bother me too much. I didn't really experience any real game breaking bugs (well I did experience a quest breaking bug but there were workarounds but I couldn't get the right circumstances for that workaround).

For most of the quests there were alternatives to completing them so I can't really complain.

I'm not sure why New Vegas didn't get more consideration for GOTY. I thought the bugs at 1st but maybe they were upset at the fact that the game has a ending and you can't play after it.

Oh yes that was certainly a

:shifty:

mistake

:lmao:

I would actually think that would be a plus in a lot of peoples eyes though. I mean how they did Broken Steel and Fallout 3's ending (and story) were just atrocious. I'm not even sure how the game got a 10 considering the storyline was a monumental [censored] up.

Obsidian did it right. They had a set ending and they're not going to budge on it and more importantly the story is actually good (well hopefully it stays as an ending because Bethesda said the same thing but they caved).

Wouldn't it actually have to win Game of the Year to get a Game of the Year edition....?

The problem with your theory is that outside of this forum, not many people agree with you..
That's why FO3 scored so much higher overall..People weren't worried about Megaton's economy when they played FO3...they were worried about fun.

Hm. I don't know. FONV has got the story going for it and the companions, but it's so so glitchy. I don't think the glitches will factor in though. I've only played Halo: Reach, which I love. And watched my daughter play Red Dead Redemption, which is a beautiful fun looking game. Neither game has many glitches, just a handful maybe, and both have good stories. I'm still upset about Jorge. I tried playing ME2, but I just can't get into it for some reason. So I don't know about that one. And I don't know about any other candidates.

When I think of "Game of the Year", I think of an all around fun game.

I don't think so. I think it will be other aspects of the game that prevent it from being released as a goty.

I like GOTY editions, I have crappy Internet, so I usually get all of my dlcs all at once. On disk.

I've said this before, but I wasn't aware of any formal "game of the year award" that decides whether a game can put that title on their games. New Vegas won game of the year on some obscure site, so I think they can put it on the game if they want. It definitely one RPG of the year, too, so they could just go against the flow and release an "RPG of the year" edition. It's much more legitimate to go narrower like that anyway, "Game of the year" for games that are completely different from each other and contain specific strengths and weaknesses (not to mention different genres) is silly.

Just from a "more money for the developers" standpoint, FONV + the DLCs will get released as a GOTY/Gold edition about 3 months after the last dlc is released. That's how it was done with FO3. Money-wise, it would make no sense to do it any other way.

As far as I know it hasn't been voted game of the year...how could they release something that hasn't happened. They could release, the best game ever edition though!

Agreed. Where I live in Germany, some villages still have dial-up ISP! Insane!

But one thing I've noticed that's seriously lacking is BACON in the Fallout world. Make it from Mole Rats or something, I don't care! Bethesda/Obsidian, please include the Game of the Year Edition with bacon as being on the Survivial cook book list of recipes! ;)

This. Whether it's called "GOTY Edition" or "Special Edition" or "Platinum" or whatever, the end result will be a re-release with the DLCs bundled in. It happened with Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, it will happen with NV.
