New Vegas RP Interest Check

Post » Wed Feb 26, 2014 11:19 am

Hello fellow forumites. I made this topic to see whether or not anyone would be interested in a Columbia-like RP based in the Mojave Wasteland. Essentially, it would be the same theme of being more character-driven, less focus on large factions like those in the Conventions/Summits/Councils. The factions would include those in New Vegas itself and whatever we create.

The basic idea is that House, using his upgraded Securitrons, managed to repel both the NCR and Caesar's Legion. The NCR's corruption finally bested them soon after, with support for the Mojave campaign collapsing and major upheaval reverberating through the Republic. The Legion, with Caesar's ailing health, creeps back, falling past the Colorado River and receding to their own lands for a time. However, five ( or ten ) years later, the NCR's new leadership begins to encroach upon the New Vegas region once more, with the forces of the Legion not far behind, both hungry for resources to supplement their weakened nations. The reason for the retreat of both the NCR and the Legion being smaller forces, to put every faction on a more equal playing field.

That premise is basically to setup the RP. Numbers would likely need to be adjusted accordingly, since we do have larger factions in the Mojave, in some cases. More emphasis could be placed on gambling, chems, things of that nature.

This is not meant to steal the momentum from any other RP, or try to move things along, simply a thread to see if any interest exists. The RP would not need to be setup immediately, it could be done in the future, the premise's appeal is more important. Also, there would be no set GM, the majority would rule, as it has.

A tentative faction-listing:

  • The NCR ( Reduced )
  • The Legion ( Reduced )
  • Mr. House/Vegas
  • The Omertas
  • The White Glove Society
  • The Chairmen
  • Freeside
  • Enclave Remnants ( Small as they may be )
  • Great Khans
  • Powder Gangers
  • Settlements such as Primm and Goodsprings
  • Boomers
  • Black Mountain Mutants
  • Jacobstown
  • The Fiends/Vault 3
  • The Brotherhood of Steel, Mojave Chapter
  • Followers of the Apocalypse
  • Gun Runners
  • Van Graffs
  • Crimson Caravan Company
  • The Kings
  • Bright Brotherhood

So, what's the verdict? :D

Your evil.. That's your verdict. No but I am interested. If I do join, it'd be as an evil faction like the Omertas, I'd put the mafia back into to them. Since I have a good faction in Columbia.

This is meant as another continuation of the Convention/Summit/Council series of RP's, including Columbia, so I'd intended for those who've written in those, to join this as well.

I'd personally hoped for the mafia elements to be more prevalent, accenting the vice of Vegas. If the others do want to join and we get a sizable number of them, I was considering the Mojave Brotherhood.

Hmm, to be honest I had hoped this would come up :D

I am extremely interested and actually hope this starts up sooner rather then later,

I agree, actually. I'd like for this to start within the week, but if the others would rather something else, such as finishing Columbia or what have you, that's more than fine.

But, like I said, this is just to see.

I suppose that'd be fine. Though, I'd imagine they'd have to constantly contend with the Kings, unless they worked out some sort of deal.

Okay cool, to be honest I don't really have much in mind right now but just brain storming ideas. I initially wanted to be the Bright Brotherhood or Black Mountain but I figure I'd take a break from mutant factions for now

Sounds interesting... I prefer the Mojave to the Capital Wasteland, so I'm in...

looks like there's interest alright. When I get off work, I'll work on the Omertas FC, and there will be a proper change in leadership.

Hmm, could it be fair to say that the Enclave after helping at the Dam decided to take in new members? Or perhaps more people like Arcade and the Remnants or a entirely new remnants bunker learned of the Enclaves presence in the Mojave and came hoping to reunite?

I'm not saying hundreds, however something around like 40+ in total enclave members just so they are actually a presence, they would mainly take place out of The Enclave Bunker and Ranger station Fox Trot (Its a small camp of Ncr who most likely would either be easy to take out or have been abandoned when the battle went on at Hoover Dam so they could join in the fight) they of course probabally made bases elsewhere to

If so, I'd like to claim the Enclave Remnants

I'm all for this as long as it doesn't kill Columbia.

Vatrou, I was going to take over the Omertas faction(I was having mafia thoughts to), but since you got there first, could I play an enforcer or something under you?

Sure, I plan on them being very aggressive towards any competition, so I'll need plenty of enforcers. That and they'll be expanding outward into the rest of Vegas, with various criminal activities.

Well.. if you can explain it and make it not overpowered..

It's right after House pushed both the legion and ncr away, this means the Madre wouldn't have changed much from when the courier went there since little time has passed.

Plus with Holograms that are invincible you'd have to find a way to make them on equal terms with everyone else (As in not overpowered)

I've done it on the other convention style RP's and managed to keep it non-OP and the Sierra Madre itself isn't really heavily damaged, it just needs a little work. As a general rule of thumb though, there won't be any holograms outside the Madre.

The holograms aren't actually as OP as they may seem, all that needs to happen is for somebody to hit the local power grid and their basically out of commission.

That not what I mean by little time has changed.. I mean, how did they manage to kill all of the Ghost people, get past the cloud, get into the Madre, get past its defenses, and take control over it in such a short period of time and yet be a small enough faction to be equivalent to everyone else

*Shrugs* Doesn't make sense to me

Just seems like a very powerful faction if they were able to do all that an hold a territory that large in size yet be equivalent to other factions

That's why I'm saying you need to explain it.

I'm leaning more towards a gang as well, one that operates in Westside/Freeside so we will most likely butt heads

Well for what I have in mind, my faction will either get their enemies on the payroll, or eliminate them. But since you will most likely but heads with the Kings, they might pay you to harass them, in caps or guns.

My gang would be pretty territorial but wouldn't be involved in all aspects of crime. They wouldn't run a casino or anything, maybe a gambling den with one or two but that would be it. They would mostly likely be involved in drugs, weapons and such.

The Courier would have taken care of most of that in the way of security systems and getting the casino open and the cloud disperses after you start up the ventilation system in-game. The Ghost People also aren't that much of a threat, if the Courier is able to kill so many then a well armed group would have no problem.

Their territory wouldn't be exactly large either, just the casino and the Villa around it, it's about the size of a medium sized town really.
