New Vegas preorder bonuses announced!

Weak...
I hate all this awful pre-order content....
If it's complete in time for launch, put it on the disc and quit being so greedy.

True, but binoculars + Unique boom stick = win

I don't know which one to choose from... I just want the collectors edition I don't seem to care which version of pre-order bonuses I get.

the shotgun is a 2 shot, slow as hell to reload, 20ga misfit. the 20ga is weaker. Now, unless it has some outstanding side effects, its going to be VERY unrealistic if it is a higher DAM weapon than an everyday 12.

I knew Bioware was notorious for this, but I never EVER thought Bethesda would do something like this.

I'm totally shocked. :(

same here, im shamed that i advertised this game on all other forums telling people that Bethesda would never do a lame in-game item bonus...turns out i was wrong.

I love Fallout games, i love Bethesda, and I love steam...but pre-order bonus as in-game item is insult to my gaming-philosophy.

I will probably buy it on steam holiday sales for -25% off, i suppose. but defintettly not pre-order.

Also, this isn't exclusive content, considering the doctor's bags, stim packs, and other such things. These are just bonus stuff, but not bonus content.

I was planning on preordering anyway, so whats the harm in getting bonus gear? Its not like I'm paying extra for these things.

because i get a feeling that all those items are already in Fallout New Vegas.esm, and by certain activation by disc (or steam) it unlocks the feature. I dont think they would have seperate .esp or .esm file only to have 4 lines of script at startup.

Now it makes me wonder.. if I pre-ordered my Fallout: New Vegas Collector's Edition from Gamestop would I still get the Classic Pack? Or are we going to get a little something extra? Minus the chips, book, and what-nots.

I still don't see a problem. If I am preordering ANYWAY, regardless if there is bonus gear or not, on an Xbox 360, which isn't as... easily programmable as a computer version, what harm is there in getting the bonus gear, even if its programmed into the game, even if it is elsewhere?

Now, if someone were to buy a copy, not use the bonus code, and sell that code on Ebay or something, THEN harm is done...

This pre-order nonsense with games has to stop. It's getting ridiculous.

What is ridiculous about free swag? You aren't paying anymore for the game, i would pre-order the game just to get my copy at midnight in the first place. Why not get something free too? It would be dumb to get a game just on the pre-order items to begin with.

It doesn't seem to me that any of these items are really special.. You just get to start off the game with items instead of having to find them later. It's not like binoculars won't be in the game if you don't get the special set that has binoculars.
Just bonus starting material.. . Most likely on my first play through I won't take the bonus stuff.. I really kind of like starting off with nothing.

What would be great was if each of these bonus equipment things came with alternate starts to the game. So if you got the Amazon pre order you would start off as a tribal instead. That would make the pre-order bonus a much harder decision for me.

I agree with you there, I prefer to start off with nothing.

I really don't care so much for the pre-order stuff I'm mostly going to pre-order to get the collectors edition before they run out. I really don't like how they are doing this, its like we have to pick a store for which set we want, I think it shouldn't matter what store we order from and we should pick a set regardless of what store we pre-order it from. Seems kind of gimmicky to me.

I mean why can't we just pre-order from whatever store we usually do and have maybe a website or something in game where we enter the promotion code and pick a set.

To make it so that each store is going to get something bought from them, otherwise if Gamestop had everyone buying from them then the other Marketplaces would be SOL.

You know there is a problem that a few of us have notice with the pre-order bonuses while pre-ordering the collectors edition. I do not feel like re-typing everything but here is the thread about the problem with pre-ordering the collectors edition. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1097330-request-for-pre-order-bonuses/

Well I think that people who ordered the Collectors Edition should just be happy with what they get, but can't you just cancel your order from the marketplace you've ordered from and re do it all over again? Or are they not selling the Collectors Edition from Walmart or some other place?

As soon as we have more details on other territories, we'll let you know. As noted in the blog post we put up, it's not just coming to North America.

Ok thanks GStaff, but if we pre order one outfit, will the others still be available through other channels? I mean i like the caravan one, but the vault one looks good as well :sadvaultboy:

Here they are!

http://bethblog.com/index.php/2010/06/10/fallout-new-vegas-digital-pre-sell-packs-now-available/

Also, Steam is running a huge http://store.steampowered.com/sale/bethesda_weekend this weekend, with tons of deals on Bethesda games including:

50% off on Fallout 3 GOTY ($24.99)
66% off on Oblivion GOTY ($8.50)
75% off on Morrowind GOTY ($5.00)

Or, you can pick up all three games plus New Vegas for just $88.48. Crazy!

what about console users anything for us

Well being that Steam is for the PC, I think that the console users will only get the Collectors Edition or the Pre-Order bonuses.

Complain to Microsoft or Sony? I can't ever see getting Oblivion on XBox Live for $8.50, and I doubt it's because of Bethesda.

By the way, which skill should throwing spears belong to if we don't have a new throwing skill?
It ain't melee, unarmed, firearms, energy weapons or explosives... Will it be a weapon that does not require any skill?

From the choices we have, I'd say it fits best in melee. If I remember correctly strength determines the throwing range for grenades, so I would guess it does it with spears too - and the skill determines accuracy and damage (I guess).

I would like the steam preorder stuff but i like to have my games on disc since i already have so many games on my steam account that if something in there goes wrong or it's hacked or something it'll be beyond bad.

Thought I'd pass this along, it sounds like Best Buy should have their information on their website for Pre-Ordering the CE sometime soon.

I hate it when they do this, instead they have a if you pre-order you get to choose which of the bonuses you want so there is no bs like this. However unlike most people i couldn't care less about the pre-order stuff, although i did pre-order from steam but only because i wanted the GOTY edition of oblivion and fo3 since i didn't have the dlc :) and i don't like spending extra on special edtion stuff.

The Pre-order sutff it's self so far seems pretty lack luster as i was hoping for something more unique than what they've done although with that said i do like free stuff.

P.S when you pre-order with steam you don't get a code it seems.
