[BETA] New Vegas Script Extender (NVSE) v1

Post » Mon Sep 27, 2010 10:07 pm

What? No SetHotkeyItem? You dare announce a list of new script commands but not include the one (out of the several I've asked for) that I actually want to use right this moment? You are supposed to be using your psychic powers to penetrate my brain and read only my thoughts and only do my bidding! RAGE! (also some way to detect mouse wheel movement while disabling FOV shifts would be super for the expanded hotkeys mod I'm working on):P

But serious question: What does 'SetRadioToDialogueOnlyMode' do? Will it actually make it so the announcer only ever does news broadcasts/intro songs/etc and doesn't play any music or something? I'm guessing 'AlwaysShowActorSubtitles' will make it so that whenever someone says something you'll see subtitles no matter how far away the actor is, and the others are pretty self-explanatory. I don't remember seeing anyone actually request those functions, though (except possible the Is/SetEssential commands, which could be super useful for some things) - I'm guessing you implemented them because you saw easy ways of doing it.

The hotfix I mentioned has been released (and the annoying invincible enemies problem has been fixed). Get to updating NVSE for the new new patch, boys!:P

These are commands Bethesda added, not us.

Oh! I wonder why they added new script commands. Maybe preparation for the new DLC come December? *shrug*

New content is the only reason I can think of to implement new functions, so it sounds likely to me. A function for messing with subtitles sounds a bit odd for new content, though. I wonder what they have in mind?

Heh. Some of us (Eastern Europeans) don't have even this patch- 280. Even for English version :(

New commands in the update:

- IsActorRefEssential
- SetActorRefEssential
- IsNoHumanGoreExe
- IncrementScriptedChallenge
- PersistentRefCount
- AlwaysShowActorSubtitles
- SetRadioToDialogueOnlyMode
I can understand why they'd want to add IncrementScriptedChallenge, otherwise you have to use a Collect Item challenge and add unplayable dummy items to up it, which is a tad clunky.
E: Confused essential and persistent, durr.
