Is New Vegas that much different from FO3?

Post » Sun Aug 22, 2010 3:04 am

Hi Peeps,
Ive been scooping around for trailers and gameplay, and i mean...doesnt it look exactly like FO3??
I understand its part of the fallout series...so off course there will be some similarities...but from what ive seen it looks near enough the same as the previous title.
it just looks like a massive DLC update as far as graphics go.
Im not here to bash the game as i still think Fallout 3 is one of the best games out there...but Im not too sure if i should pre-order....Hmmmm what to do! :banghead:

Tell me your opinion!!

FNV is different from FO3, just the gameplay is the same. They've improved the graphics, dialogue, combat and a whole lot more, so yes, you should pre-order-and quick!

It looks the same, yes. Minor graphical updates. The atmosphere is an obvious change, and everything else is completely new (well, gameplay is mostly the same and all of the core elements are too). I don't get what people expect from new games, do they really have to have a major graphical update to be considered worthy? Gah.

Yes, you should definetly buy it. At worst, you'll spend 60+/- hours to make it through the main quest and some of the side quests; at best you'll find yourself like most of the people on this forum and spend much, much longer than that and really get your money's worth ( or you could wait like 4 weeks and buy a used copy from the local game store and still have a blast).

It's a new area, at least the size of the Capital Wasteland, with more and probably better written quests, as well as major gameplay improvements, some being concrete additions, like weapon modding, improved repairs, traits, hardcoe mode, and multiple ammo types, and others being less obvious but still major things, like a better balanced game, less/no scaling, and shooting improvements. Just because the graphics are the same, and the gameplay LOOKS the same, doesn't mean it WILL be the same

lol ok there is alot of new things. First it gonna look the same with those photos... i mean its still fallout.
hardcoe mode (Survival experince: Very immersive)
Iron sights (Now you can scope like MW2)
Better AI in all aspects
Huge map the size of fallout 3
70 free quest and 90 side quest (plus more of the story)
Factions (This really makes it replayable)
New wepons
Casinos
Courier jobs (Yes this was confimred in a Demo interview)
Brand new storyline that does not go with fallout 3
Better Character Creation
Obsedian (orginal fallout owner) Made this with the help and use of bethseda software
Crafting (you can make poisons, unique wepons like before, ammo, and more)
Companion wheel makes it so you dont have to go into dialouge to tell your companion what to do
New companions
All new environment
Moutains, mines, fresh water, Vegitation, caves, new mosnters, tons of factions!
Wepon mods (Silencers, scopes, ammo capacity upgrade, etc)
Binoculars (now you dont have to use V.A.T.S for anything with iron sights and binoculars, but its still there)
And more...

Let us say that if you are stupid enough not to buy the game then you have missed out on much. hardcoe mode will add in more then just the "Game" aspect but a "Survival" aspect. Meaning you wont be focused on beating the game for the most part you will be hunting down food, water, and beds to sleep in so that you can survive. Do not carry alot in hardcoe mode ethier Ammo has weight.

Like bethseda said its not an expansion (and if it is, its better then fallout 3, and bigger in my opinion)

If http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28EFHmQedPo isn't enough to convince you it is very different from Fallout 3, then there is no helping you.

i dont see how you can think this looks like a dlc. it is bigger then fallout 3.

no the graphics havent improved much, but the animations have and the writing should be better too (considering obsidian is doing it)

the world will obviously be similar to fallout 3,though it has more of a western theme to it.

if you want better graphics play Call of duty.

for an amazing role playing game play this.

it all depends on your preferences. this game will be more like fallout 1 and 2 (not in gameplay aspects) and it continues the story of the west coast and the expansion of the N.C.R . it isn in no way an expanison. it is basicly what GTA Vice City was To GTA 3

I remeber playin fallout 3 the first time...and it was a amazing experience...how you could achieve different results on each quest...me and my friend could not give eachothers advice as we kept doing things differently.

And also best AI system ever!

Wait til' you see this game! Theres gonna be pacifist ways to complete quests, multiple factions to work with, sneaking, reputation will effect outcomes, and many other possibilities we've heard of. In one preview I read that if you work with the New California Republic (big faction) to take down a Caesar's Leigion (big faction) outpost, then in some game-time later the NCR will occupy that area, effecting quest givers.

Yeah it svcked that in FO3 we were forced into the BoS even if we were evil. In FONV we can be who we want during the mainquest.
