I think people are misunderstanding my complaint. This isn't about The Strip in particular. It's about Las Vegas itself. I mean, there's very few places to explore in Vegas, most of the buildings outside the walls are rubble like they were bombed, and the few places that arent rubble are boarded up. I don't know, I don't hate the game at all, I just feel like Vegas as a world build has very little to explore, not in the 'OMG L33T W3@PONS' way, just in a way that enhances the feeling of a generation long gone and likely forever gone.
That is one of the main reasons why I hate the New Vegas area. It has so many homes and buildings but majority of them are boarded up. Sure one could put forth the assumption that they are boarded up due to structural failiures but I find it highly unlikely that 90% of the buildings would be in that shape in 200 years. Cmon concrete structures can last for along time, especially if they are in a dry area such as Nevada where they have very low humidity levels and very little rain/snow fall. This will make buildings take longer to corrode and fall apart.
Personally I would have liked to see more buildings open even if they were abandoned with minor loot or no loot at all worth taking. Its the exploration part that was killed for me when I finally got to Vegas. I had more exploration done away from the strip than I did around and at the strip. For a city that was obviously never hit directly by the bombs there was alot of "bomb" damage to some areas such as the Fiend terrority in the destoryed section of New Vegas.
Probably the worst example of this was the Searchlight Airport; a massive and clearly important structure that was totally inaccessible! I was shocked to discover I couldn't get in there.
I don't have a problem with some buildings being boarded up, as FO3 had the same thing, but a structure that dominates the landscape to that degree needs to be enterable.
Thank god for NVInteriors, I suppose.
Are you talking about getting inside the buildings of the Searchlight airport or just getting into the airport itself? If its the latter one you can get into the airport and wander around, the buildings are just closed up and theres nothing really there other than a few ammo cans and thats pretty much it.
