New Vegas As Van buren spiritual successor

for all who dont know about http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Van_Buren its was supposed to be the original FO3 before Interplay got into money problems and sold the rights to beth and now Obsidian going to make 'Fallout New Vegas' for beth.

now for those who dont know Obsidian they worked on few of the best RPG titles like Planescape Torment, NWN 2, KOTR 2 ... so they got the credentials and something more relevant to us since when Interplay(who worked on the original Fallouts) broke some of their dev started Obsidian.

plus beth wanna call 'fallout New Vegas' a spinoff which is perfect, now this game going to be a stand alone game with no connection to beth Fo3 plot or its cannon and only will have to use its engine.

as for New Vegas, its location is back on the west coast and its suggest that its simmilar to van buren location (Van Buren took place in the American southwest (Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, Utah) http://hwzone.co.il/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=416667.0;attach=120473;image

so we got the ~same ppl we got the same place we got the same cannon and Van buren was half finished so why not use some of it materials ... so is it a duck?

so what u think on the subject and in which ways you would like to see New Vegas more like Van buren (and less like FO3)?

Because NV will be in the FO3 style. The Van Buren Materials, if they still exist (which is doubtful) were for an 3rd person RPG, with an engine that would now be considerably outdated.

In any case, there's an official NV thread we should be using.

Interplay isn't involved in New Vegas. Interplay sold the IP to Bethesda, and Bethesda has licensed the game to Obsidian.

now for those who dont know Obsidian they worked on few of the best RPG titles like Planescape Torment, NWN 2, KOTR 2 ... so they got the credentials and something more relevant to us since when Interplay(who worked on the original Fallouts) broke some of their dev started Obsidian.

Some of the Obsidian developers are former Interplay devs, and had worked on Planescape Torment, but PST was not developed by Obsidian. Torment was released over three years before Obsidian was even founded :)

plus beth wanna call 'fallout New Vegas' a spinoff which is perfect, now this game going to be a stand alone game with no connection to beth Fo3 plot or its cannon and only will have to use its engine.

It isn't connected to the plot, and the geographic distance is such that any connection between the games will be minimal, but I assume NV has to follow the canon set by Fallout 3 if it ever comes up.

so we got the ~same ppl we got the same place we got the same cannon and Van buren was half finished so why not use some of it materials ... so is it a duck?

It's quite possible that New Vegas will draw on some of the Van Buren material. We haven't heard anything to this effect, and I'd be surprised if they came right out and said it, but it does seem likely that we'll see some inspiration from VB.
