New Vegas when GOTY still not fixed?

Post » Mon Sep 14, 2009 12:19 pm

I'm sorry but I can't see how they're going to release a new Fallout game when the current GOTY edition and DLC is so full of bugs (PS3 at least, idk about other systems). Personally I'm not going to purchase the game due to the serious lack of support for Fallout 3: GOTY edition. Not only are the bugs not being patched, but there has been no word about it or even anything saying that they acknowledge that the bugs even exist. That's just bad PR. I can understand that if your team has to work on another project that they cannot support it but at least tell people that's what's going on. or if money is the problem or legal things, whatever. Just keep your consumers informed.

Vegas is being produced by a different company (bad/good idk) and I hope that it's a good game, but if it's not going to be supported i'm not going to invest my hard earned money on something that doesn't work.

How many people out there agree or disagree?

Well first of all New Vegas is developed by Obsidian not by Bethesda. So Obsidian can go and make the game because they are4 not going to be held responsible to the glitches in the other game since they did not develop it, it should be Bethesda who should fix the problems not Obsidian since it's not their fault.

Hahaha I can't believe you think the bugs in the GOTY are ever going to be fixed. They've moved on.

What OverlordX said.

New Vegas or no, Obsidian was never going to be working on patching a Bethesda game. So it's not like one is going to have much of an effect on the other in the first place.

Second, there's often this misconception that working on putting out a new game means that a company is ignoring problems with the previous one. While that might be the case (at times, theoretically,) it's also worth noting that the team working on bug fixes and the team working on new content aren't always the same people.

For example - let's say for the sake of argument that Bethesda decided they were going to start working on Fallout 4. The majority of the team working on that game aren't going to be taking resources away from any work on bug-fixing Fallout 3. The writers, modellers, artists, lead designers, etc - these guys don't troubleshoot glitches anyway. So even if a company is working on a new game when in your opinion they also need to be working on patches - the two aren't necessarily all that related.

This section is for discussing New Vegas, not a rant about other games.
