New way of selling goods and making money

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:14 am

I found a Post somewhat like this but it was too broad and didn't answer my question. In OB regardless of the money i had i would take everything off of every bandit or dead traveler and sell it. In my house i had something like 200000 dollars worth of weapons from fallen foes. Would it be a good idea to implement something like a shop out of your house. Or maybe we could buy a shop and higher someone to run it and there NPC's could be attracted to your stuff and pay money for it. you could adjust the prices and all of the inventory could be stuff that you took from dead foes. You could also specialize in special weaponry or exotic gifts and maybe people could put in requests of specific items they want you to find and they would pay top dollar for which would lead to more quests.

If that dosen't work i am still working on a skyrim equivalent of EBAY in my head.. but i can't get it.. what are your thoughts?? i would just think it would be cool to buy a shop and choose how it runs. You could get a steady income or become famous for selling the most exotic weapons in skyrim. Also since there is blacksmithing we could create weapons and sell them and we could get like orders of specific items that need master crafters like ourselves to be created..What are your thoughts?

No, I don't like the idea of TES turning into a shop management game

It wouldn't have to be a very complex system- your own store, so everything you own gets put on the shelves. It would certainly make deciding what to pillage for a lot more interesting.

Great idea!

I just think it would be cool to at least have a bank account or similar that when you complete things like the fighters guild In OB you would get your profits given to you automatically.

Great idea, but make it so its only at a shop instead of your house, lets say you buy a shop in the market, and you can stock up the place with what you want, and if you don't like running it your self you can hire merchants to do things you need them to, (if you don't have workers you dont make money,) if you want to, you can sell your shop.

Ehhh i dont like it, too complex when i can just go to the shop and sell items . . . maybe id earn some extra money the way you described but the game is not about making as much money as you can, and i couldnt care less if i have 20k or 25k in gold

It could work. Think Sea Dogs II (Pirates of the Caribbean). You could spend the entire game just being a trader, and it was kinda cool. I hope they do a proper Sea Dogs II, and keep Disney away from it, no matter how much they offer to pay for it.

I see where you are going with this, I dont think its a bad idea necessarily, I dont think it should be implemented. The only way I personally think this kinda thing should be used is if Skyrim was going to be an online game like Fable.

It would be nice, but at the same time would be kind of pointless as vendors are RIGHT there. Now if it was a single Merchant chest that you put items in and over time an item would disappear (but at a higher price, not the default 50% sell price for selling gear to merchants), and the gold would be added to the chest for you to take. Two major things of importance are that A) You sell items at vendor price, so you already make a lot more than if you sell it normally. Also, it sells for full price, because you aren't capped by Merchant Gold Limits. So Goldbrand would actually sell for 6000 gold, instead of the 800 gold maximum you can get from a vendor.

I like the idea. I'm not sure of the best way to implement it.
I've always thought having your own shop on TES would be kind of cool.

If it was kept simple, I would love to have my own stall. It would make selling things so much easier, Instead of just X number of items sold at a time, I just dump everything in the stall and have my lackey sell it for me!
