New weapons for Skyrim?

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 8:40 pm

I distinctly remember when learning about how Mussolini attacked Ethiopia, my teacher explained that it was "literally Italian tanks fighting against Ethiopian spears." So when WWII rolled around, spears were the norm in that region, but Europe, what I think Tamriel is modeled after, had freaking tanks.

And, personally, I don't think that children and a lack of number crunching fit in TES, but it's all there. So now I get to make some requests. I want simple flintlock pistols with a fabric lined cartridge.

Guys..you got it all wrong. Why use an inaccurate, heavy, slow to reload gun, when you can use a massive fireball/iceball/lightning blast, maybe telekinesis (mysticism removed, but skill might still be there) to throw a GIANT boulder to crush someone, and a good, old, bow and arrow...

Personally, I choose fireball.

Although you want it, and most likely a lot of other people as well, I have to tell you that it's not going to be in, simply because it's contrary to TES universe, lore, and setting. Not THIS time, bro. But just keep waiting, and maybe they'll do that.

Personally, I don't think they should progress out of the medieval age with TES, but that's just me. I love this game for how it's been. Strictly medieval role-playing.

I'm not magically gifted like you.

Now you made me unhappy :( and now I gotta make your face unhappy with my halberd or gun.

there wont be guns because we have magic and maybe nirn doesn't have the necessary ingredients for gunpowder

Lore confirms full-scale cannons.

"No spears in the 'traditional spears sense.'" What did Todd Howard mean by this?! I'm intrigued...

Halberd

I'm assuming those are in because they used a halberd to represent 2-handed weapons in a damage dealer chart in some old gaming magazine.

I don't know what the article or image is called, but just look for a chart in google images with the query being "confused turtle"

Mostly nord-themed weapons for the random equipment tables, but with specifically placed examples of non-magical weapons from any/all previous TES games in various places where it would make sense to have such. That way if I suddenly had a burning need for chitin or MW-style glass weapons or an ebony scimitar I could go to the dunmer town, or if I wanted an ayleid axe I could go check out stuff along the southern border, etc.

Ice type weapons, i.e. Ice stalactites, crude ice swords. clubs, arrows etc (By "Ice" I mean some kind of magical ice that doesn't melt.)

But why would they have JAVELINS, but not spears? What are we, Greek now? Vikings used spears and lances quite well. Also the axes on quite a long shaft.

1 this is not earth this is nirn, the reason they got rid of them was balance issues, not lore issues, in Morrowind you could just keep stabing someone with a spear and keep them away there was no real fight

I see... That makes sense, but that's also why it was a good weapon. The blocking ability is almost worthless, and it's a one-opponent-at-a-time weapon, which will have its weaknesses. I think they shuold be in, but that's just me.

AS WELL AS STAFFS. :toughninja: <--- Dat's how I wield my staff, like a nunchuk.

Spears and throwing knives. But I''d like the throwing knives to be realistic, as in, every throw won't be perfect and hit point-first.

I'm not really interested in new weapon types, just a LOT of variety for the usual types (swords, bows, etc).

Yeah, me too. Hope they bring the cross-bow back(even though I never use ranged combat). Khopesh would also be cool.
