Newbie question about adding mobs

Post » Mon Nov 28, 2011 1:10 pm

Hello guys! I am a beginner in Construction Set and I am trying to make some good changes in game. Everything I needed till now, I just found by searching here or at the CS wiki. But my new question seems so easy that only me could do that! I dunno how to add mobs to the maps. I tried to get any of the leveled list (a bandit for example) and drag it to the map, just like we do with itens. But I have tried many times and it never spawn. What I am doing wrong? Looked at other mods and even original game places and could find what I am doing wrong. Sorry for this totally newbie question, but it's for a good cause! Thank you!

Things to try:

1) Check the AI packages to make sure the mob will stay around where you expect to find it.

2a) Use a brand new game/clean save to check the mod in-game.
2b) Wait 3 days for all cells to respawn before you go to the area where your dropped your spawn point.

3) Make sure the path grids are good around where you placed the mob.

4) Verify that the plugin is actually getting loaded into the game.

good luck!

5) Check the "Chance None" box on the leveled list you're using. "Chance None" means there is X percent chance that nothing will spawn. For instance, BanditMelee50 has a "Chance None" of 50, meaning there is a 50% chance that nothing will spawn. BanditMelee100 has a "Chance None" of 0, which means it will always spawn.

First, thank you guys for helping me!

Tried again and didnt work. My steps were:

1) Opened CS and got the Oblivion.esm to data.

2) Got the exterior map of Skingrad.

3) Got the BaditMelee100 at the LeveledList and dragged him to a read area (to be more specific, to that circle near Skingrad).

4) Saved the file.

5) Checked the file at the OMM.

6) Opened the game and tested.

To be sure the cell is respawning, I killed a bandit near that spot. Went to another area, and came back to test if the bandit should be respawned. The bandit of the original game, yes but the one I placed by CS no. I am not sure if I did the AI thing right, but I suppose bandits should be standing or just walking near the spot where I placed by default (all bandits in the game do this). I don't know what I am doing wrong!

Just to clarify, did you place the new spawn point in the Skingrad worldspace or the Tamriel worldspace? If you loaded the Skingrad worldspace and placed the spawn point outside the wall, then the bandit is not in the Tamriel worldspace and won't show up outside of Skingrad. If you cast a long range Detect Life spell while in Skingrad and go near the wall where you place the spawn point, you'll see the glow from your bandit on the other side of the wall.

So I cant just load a map and just move to the other area where I want to place the bandit? Because is very confusing to find the spots by name.

What I do is:

After opening CS and set oblivion.esm to data, I go to the Cell View window and set SkingradWorld at World Space. So I have some choices, normally I choose the first one (SkingradCastleExterior), zoom out and move the map to Wilderness, where I want to place the bandits.

So I should use the Tamriel at World Space stead of SkingradWorld?

Yep. I've made that mistake myself. Took me forever to figure out what I did wrong, mainly because I was too dumb to ask.

Thank you very much for the help!

You're welcome! :D I'm glad we were able to help.
