Greetings. 1st, thanks to all for previous helpful responses. Also, thank you to the person who advised me about posting my problem as a new topic (and to the moderator for giving me guidance on same); as an inexperienced person (new to forums) I appreciate the constructive feedback.
Now to the new problem.
Background: I am new to Steam (1st time user).
I installed my NVidia 950M card and assume that the game will recognize it automatically.
I installed Steam, then installed FO4.
I then went Off-Line on Steam and opened the game (FO4) for the 1st time.
It opened preApocalypse in the home with spouse, babe and a robot housekeeper. Had less than scintillating conversations with same. Then had a Vault-tec salesman give me a pitch and I "bought" his policy. After almost 90 minutes locked up in the house when the game did not progress to the vault and to gaining experience killing radroaches and exploring, I saved and quit. I then exited Steam.
Sometime later, I tried to enter Steam (my account worked, I successfully logged-in) without success;
I did notice that the Install Steam button was active! I checked and my computer shows both Steam and FO4 installed (but unavailable). FO4 will not execute either (expected since no Steam available, but I tried anyway).
Tech (or GamePlay) Question Q1. was I supposed to do something in the house to activate the Bomb? or did I have some sort of "bad" install when I first ran FO4 (semi-successful run)? I am postulating that I may have to uninstall both FO4 and Steam & then reinstall them...
Q1 b1 should I uninstall Steam and this automatically uninstalls FO4 or should I uninstall FO4 1st, before Steam?
b2 when I installed FO4, it took almost 6 hours to download and install, yet I usually download and install megafiles in minutes --- is it normal for it to take this long?
Q2 Any other suggestions referring to Steam and FO4?
Tech Issue(s) cont: I ran into Nexus while on Steam.
Q3 Do you who have experimented with them suggest I wait for official Bethesda patches? Or
do you find that the patches from Nexus are "good/worthwhile"/
if answer to Q3 is to use the Nexus patches,
Q4 then when there is an official patch from Bethesda, does one end up with a different version of the program that needs to be checked out to see which if any of the Nexus patches are applicable and usable? or does one just patch-in on top of it all?
I believe this pretty much details my situation and questions.
I would also like to point out that neither Steam nor Bethesda provided any help nor did they give a very satisfactory answer to my suggestion that they provide greater depth to the instructions on how to use Steam and install a program for first time users. I was pointed to the user forums and (to-date) I am only on the FO4 ones here at Bethesda. (Q5?: Does anyone suggest I do so at Steam too? Since I just plan to have FO4 for the forseeable future, I would think it would be, at best, a duplication of effort.)
In advance, thanks to any and all who provide me with some helpful answers. The feedback is sincerely appreciated.
Regards, RGCB
