Today I tossed around the idea of a concept I have termed "Blade Runner"

http://www.kateandava.ie/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Blade-runner1.jpg :P

I'd advise against making a female character if you're anything like me. I can't play female characters at all. However, if you're like some of the other guys on here like Acadian or bobg, or Phoss, then you probably don't mind playing female characters, in which case; yeah go for it. :)

I'm a big believer in the wonderful differences between the sixes. I am comfortable with a character of either six, and I think the reason is that that I don't 'become' my character. Rather, they are their own person or mer, and I simply travel with them as a mentor or guide.

That having been said, I find that the six of my character has a dramatic impact on how they view and approach their world and indeed, how the world interacts with them.

Three of my longer running early characters were a Nordic paladin, a Redguard ranger and a Bretonic 'all rounder'. All three were decidedly men, and approached their world from that perspective.

When considering the creation of my current character, I was looking for fragile, vulnerable, and skittish. It was the voice of a young Bosmeri she elf that spoke to me. Somehow we clicked, and have never looked back.

I play both male and female characters as well. As Acadian says, they are their own person.

My recent characters always have some kind of weakness or vulnerability, which makes them more interesting to play. I had "played through" several Elder Scrolls games with strong, efficiently developed characters, and I found that they became boring to me as they got even stronger and more efficient. That led to "restartitis."

Somewhere along the line, in Morrowind, I decided to go against the grain, and created an axe-wielding bosmer female who hated magic. I carried that practice over to Oblivion, where I think it's even better, because the Oblivion leveling system actually favors imbalanced development if you don't attempt to outwit it by "efficient leveling."

I still create a lot of characters, but I don't drop them as I used to. When I find I'm tiring of one story, I play one of the other characters for a while. It keeps the game fresh, because I've always got three or four very different characters going.

LOL Im a crossdresser, so playing as a female character completely doesnt bother me. Something that Im into in this game is Unique dialogue. Like how people talk to your character based on disposition and such. Playing a female would let me hear something diferent at the very least, even if its a minute diference.

On the other hand, it's important not to stereotype based on six... or race, age, or other factors, for that matter. :)

Also, in reality, six is not binary, dichotomous male-female, but rather a spectrum of possbilities, including the wide variety of transgender and intersixed individuals. Likewise for psychological gender, of course.

This is actually dealt with in various Japanese games, but not really in Western games, which tend to assume categorical, absolute binary differences. I hope to see Western games evolve to express spectrums of possibilities since the technology can certainly handle it.

Hmm... I got to thinking that I dont know anyone on the forum that plays as a female orc, and it might be interesting to try that. I would do it like Accadia has done with buffy sept... Id be the campion of an orc. That would be my kind of unique and weird. What do you guys think about that? What would a female orc be like as far as an RP... Thoughts and idea please.

Play as the blunt-equivalent of Mazoga the Orc.

Buffy is very close to Mazoga, and I see the differences in the two women. Buffy approaches the world from the framework that she is small and vulnerable. This drives her to a more indirect approach to things, and plays havoc with her self confidence. Mazoga does not suffer from that. The orc does not hesitate to take on a foe toe-to-toe or speak her mind directly. Mazoga has a level of self confidence that ranges from her combat to her satisfaction with her own appearance. Buffy is quite envious of her. Mazoga does not suffer from self-image problems.

I like orcs a lot. If I was to play one (of either six), I would be inspired to some extent by (forgive the leap of lore) Klingons from Star Trek. A noble warrior race with a rich heritage and traditions not routinely understood by others.

So I decided this character isnt me, so I put aside all my pre-conceptions about the game, and just let the character unfold. This is what we got:

Name: Snagarz gra-Loga
six: F
Age: young (slider full left)
Race: Orc
Birthsign: Shadow
Special: Magic
Attributes: Speed, Willpower
Skills: Alchemy, Athletics, Conjuration, Heavy Armor, Illusion, Light Armor, Marksmen

Just need a class name. This is it till Skyrim though.

Just by coincidence, I've recently started a axe-wielding Orc named Blossom. She's not wearing that clunky armor, but enchanting her elegant velvet with elemental shield (Fire Shield, Frost Shield, Shock Shield) and looking for amulets and rings to boost her Atronach Spell absorption.

To further make things interseting, I'm going for Mercantile, Speechcraft and Personality as high as I can get them, and swearing off offensive magic, so no Destruction, or Command spells etc. She'll use defensive or neutral spells (Open Lock, Light etc.) as they're more dainty and lady-like than lockpicks and torches.

Does anyone know of a really pretty war-axe that will match her purse?

Depends on her purse, but I think ebony will pick up her eye color, and looks good with almost anything.

Glass war axe, perhaps? Even if it doesn't match the purse, it matches the skin tone. The Axe of Icy Darkness (Frost damage 14pts, Weakness to Frost 35% for 10sec), War Axe of Absorption (Absorb Luck 8pts for 20sec), War Ax of Fracturing (Disintegrate Armor 60pts), War Axe of Fire (Fire Damage 15pts), War Axe of the Glacier (Frost Damage 15pts), War Axe of the Dynamo (Shock Damage 15pts), & War Axe of Beguilement (Soul Trap for 10sec) can all be found in random loot.

Not knowing the color of her purse, or velvet outfit, all one can do is http://images.uesp.net//a/ad/OB-items-War_Axes.jpg. It is a matter of taste of course, but the Silver War Axe seems the most elegant to me. Followed by the Ebony. I have always had a soft spot for the Dwemer War Axe though, I like the bronze color and the long, slender arc of the blade.

Since Zak was asking about other people who have played orc women, here was mine: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v90/subrosa_florens/oblivion/Oblivion452.jpg. Note that I use a mod that de-pigs orcs.

Morghak is from an Orcish noble family in the Wrothgarians. She grew up in the shadow of her older sister Urzoth, who was her mother's favorite. Everything that Urzoth did was always right, and everything Morghak did was always second best (at least so it seemed to her). Finally when Urzoth was made a knight in Gortwog's court, she could take no more of it. Running away from home, she made her way to Cyrodiil by chance as much as anything else. Like other orcs from Nova Orsinium, she follows the ancient elven god Trinimac (not Malacath). In Cyrodiil she became a gladiator, and eventually rose to grand champion, all in the hopes of impressing her mother. She was a ferocious fighter, who could not wait to close with and destroy the enemy. This was not simply so much a matter of confidence, but from her anger at feeling slighted by her mother, and her desperate need to prove herself. When she went berserk, look out!

As all my classes, she was a custom. I do not recall the stats, but she used various one handed axes (her favorite was the Dwemer Axe, because of how it looks) with a shield. She was a basic melee fighter, with restoration and shield spells the only magic she used. She was my first character who never used alchemy, except for potions she found or bought. She wore rainment in the arena of course. Outside of it she eventually took to wearing bronze armor (a mod changing the standard orcish armor to look bronze).

Mine just reads

Class: Yes!

because she has.

She's considering a shopping trip to the Shivering Isles to look at a Golden War-axe. Since she'll be enchanting it herself, the base stats are secondary to the looks. Of course, she might just have a custom one made, maybe a variation on the Elven one? She's currently wearing Green Velvet, but has a Blue and a Red outfit, too. Since they all have gold trim, she'll want to match that. Her current War-axe is just a Steel one, but she's added a 20 point Fire damage and a Soul Trap to it, using a bandit soul. She'll do the same (maybe with a dash of weakness added) to the next one.
