News at 11: You can break a TES game

So, I don't know why every thread has people moaning about how broken certain skills, skill combinations and certain equipment strategies are. Previous TES games had it much, much worse. Why, I remember the days of Morrowind, where you could make potions that would restore thousands of points of health per second for days at a time! This, with ingredients that were pennies at the vendor. You could literally make tons of money just levelling to max alchemy in Morrowind, gamebreaking bonuses aside.

Oblivion used a simple weakness-to-magicka recursive formula to do thousands of points of damage using simple, cheap spells. You could enchant your equipment to become permamently invisible fairly easily. Youl could use short duration high effect spells (like charm) to get the cheapest prices with nothing in personality or barter (and to get out paying fines for crimes). You could level infinitely by exploiting how jail time "punished" your character.

So what's in Skyrim? A sneak skill that isn't totally useless. An alchemy system that allows for a little of the recursive fun of Morrowind for those inclined to find it. Enchanting being given back as a skill that can give you some nice equipment.

And yes, if you do everything together, you can be awesome. But Skyrim comes off as slightly less insane and remains less gamey than Morrowind and Oblivion.

Make it harder to break is all that I ask of Bethesda. I person playing normally and not trying to exploit should not have to self gimp in order to enjoy this game to the fullest

It's adorable how a negative in a game can be justified by it's predecessor. How cute!

Hey steering columns in the 50s impaled their drivers during collisions so why complain about car safety now.

Yeah, exactly. My complaints about the game have nothing to do with minor glitches or some exploit I was trying to do - it's broken quests which are starting pile up after playing the completely normally.

I didn't break this TES game, it arrived that way.
