Next Best Thing to Vehicles?!

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 1:03 pm

So my wife and I take turns playing fallout 4 all evening and I play for 6-10 hours on my days off from work and we both agree that adding one thing could enhance both our experiences. And really, in 210 years someone could have gotten around to it.

Bicycles! The ability to find them, or create them from scrap? However it would work out I could see a bike moving us across the wasteland at, at least full sprint speed with a greatly diminished fatigue cost.

Thoughts?

I would love a bicycle. In fact, I'll take any kind of vehicle. I loved the motorcycle mod in Fallout 3. It was a must-have in all my games.

The map is small enough as it is. No need to make it feel smaller.

Nah. You miss so much by going so fast.

Besides, I don't think a bicycle could withstand the weight of POWAH AHMAH!

True. I've read somewhere its about 1/5th of skyrim.

No idea why they decided to keep it that small.

With cars blocking the broken roads to crazy craters doting the land scapes how we are supposed to drive a vehicle is beyond me.

Not that moving faster would'nt be convenient, but I never bought horses in Skyrim because I was sick of losing 'em. If your bike had a map marker like your power armor does, well, maybe that would help more. But you'll still often head out of a different door than you entered, or be teleported/escorted about by quests/NPCs, thus separating you from your transport.

that is wrong.

Fallout 4 main world space is about 3008 playable cells which is very close to 4 sq miles while Skyrim's main world space has 4326 playable cells(5.75 sq miles).

Fun Fact #1 - FO4 has Beth's largest persistent world space yet (Commonwealth) at a total of 35,721 cells which is roughly 47 sq miles.

Fun Fact #2 - The world space used at the start of the game(SanctuaryHillsWorld) is the same size as the Commonwealth world space for the main game.

so that's one pre-war and one post war totaling nearly 100 sq miles. Beth is good to us modders no?

Fallout 4 is 1/16 the size of GTA 3 and because New Vegas didn't score a 99 on Metacritic, Bethesda sued them into bankruptcy and put Chris Avellone in prison for 15 years. Also, blahblahblah Gamebryo. #GamerTruthiness

I honestly does not understand why you can't ride horses (with two heads?) in Fallout. I mean it makes sense as a way of transportation in this world where the ground is uneven and the cars are destroyed, and since they use the same engine as for the Elder Scrolls they already have it built and ready to use.

Yes, a pink Schwinn bicycle with white tassels from the handle bars and a white wicker basket on the front....

But only if I get to ride it in power armour....

Nah... let's not....

Ah motorcycles, good times.

I do think any vehicle would be nice, sure you might miss something; however if the raiders had vehicles too...

Also it seems like traveling by vehicle could be a more entertaining way to 'fast' travel then a load screen.

Riding a two-headed horse across the wasteland would feel like a constant Elder Scrolls easter egg, seeing as how Bethesda makes them both.

Although if German Shepherds, cats and Brahmans can survive why not mutated horses?!

Poll is Bias, because You can also believe that Having a Bike kind of goes against the spirit of the whole "single/few survivor(s) in the wastelands"

I don't think it's quite that small, but regardless. I've heard that they were going for 'Quality of Quantity' over sheer size.

why i said "surivorS", and the building a commuity makes sense for the

MY point was, I do not personally wants bikes, they simply do not seem "Fallout" to me, but i use fast travel so clearly teh "stopping to smell the roses" answer is not true for me, thus neither answer works.

No fusion powered Brahmin?

I was figuring that a bicycle could be cobbled together in a world where we tear apart tires & computers to make towns.
