So far, since Morrowind (with the exception of Skyrim's main quest), every main quest and every second expansion has featured a Daedric Prince at least significantly involved, if only in the background. This thread is about trying to predict what Daedric Princes will be in the next expansion or DLC, and (optional) how that might factor into the province featured. In addition to the likely Daedric Prince, I'm curious as to which ones you would like to see featured.
I personally want to see Vaermina or Mephala due to the complexity of their spheres, Vaermina's for her involvement in the lives of every single mortal (through dreams) and Mephala due to how her sphere is actually complexity and lying.
Logically thinking about this though:
Azura-Probably not, she was the patron of the Nevevarine in Morrowind
Boethiah-Possibly, usually s/he is more concerned with a small competition of the best than with larger affairs
Clavicus Vile-Considering he's already been featured in Redguard, and he isn't a particularly complex prince (as far as I'm concerned), I think this is an absolute no
Hermaeus Mora-He was featured as the driving force behind the Dragonborn DLC, so probably not
Hircine-He was featured as the conductor of the hunting grounds during the Bloodmoon (both the time and the expansion)
Jyggalag-Possible, he was sort of a central plot point of The Shivering Isles, but I think he definitely has enough mystery surrounding his background and future since then, as well as not that much screen time in the expansion
Malacath-Unlikely, he's particularly concerned with the spurned (primarily the orcs), so I don't see him being a major plot point unless the next game is set in High Rock (with Orsinium present) and I consider that unlikely as well seeing as that area has been visited
Mehrunes Dagon-Not only was he the main villain in Oblivion, but he's a particularly evil prince, so I think this one is practically impossible
Mephala-As I said before, I think this one has potential due to the (intentional) lack of explanation of her motives, it could be similar to the Dragonborn DLC, with someone masquerading as the main villain, despite Mephala pulling the strings all along
Meridia-Possibly, I don't think her hatred of the undead is enough to create an expansion about her (without diversifying enemies that is)
Molag Bal-He's going to be featured in ESO, so not only is he going to appear, but future patches will probably beat the idea of him as a villain to death. I think this one is a definitive no.
Namira-Seeing how she is a more obscure and villainous Prince (her quests in both Oblivion and Skyrim involve killing priests) I don't think this is likely, although a battle between her and Meridia might make an excellent expansion
Nocturnal-Okay I think this one can also be definitively ruled out. She's the patron of the Thieves Guild, and just like with Malacath, unless the game is focused on her faction (unlikely) I don't see her being heavily involved in a main quest
Peryite-I think there is a lot of potential here, with all the chaos being inflicted across Tamriel in and after the events of Skyrim, he could attempt to fix the madness (or maybe Jyggalag could be involved in that instead, I'm not clear on which one properly constitutes order), or perhaps just an expansion featuring a pandemic he caused for some reason or another could be interesting.
Sanguine-I really don't think he has enough substance to be featured in an expansion. GTA has booze and loose women, but they haven't been key plot points in the expansions.
Sheogorath-The Shivering Isles already vastly covered this Prince, more-so (I think) than Dragonborn or Bloodmoon did for Hermaeus Mora or Hircine, So I think unless his appearance factors into the aforementioned madness abound in the empire (I think Jyggalag or Peryite trying to fix it is more likely), then I don't see another expansion about him coming.
Vaermina-I think she's definitely one of the top candidates for an expansion, her ability to influence all mortals, as well as her manipulative behavior (a bit more than other princes) could create interesting circumstances for an expansion.
So the way I see it, that leaves us with the following likely/probable options:
Boethiah
Jyggalag (questionably)
Mephala
Meridia
Namira
Peryite
Vaermina
Boethiah-S/he's very focused on the secretive assassination and espionage, so I could see the hero trying to prevent (or assist) her/him from toppling an important faction (something relatively small though, something regional, like an Elsweyr political group as opposed to the Thalmor
Jyggalag-I can really envision this, as the prince of order, after being completely outside of Skyrim (presumably to build his strength for the upcoming tasks he has), he might be attempting to bring order to the broken political status of Tamriel, culminating with mortals overthrowing his attempts to impose absolute order on him, and deciding diplomacy amongst themselves is a better alternative to surrendering to (possibly) one of the strongest Daedric Princes there is.
Mephala-I mentioned this earlier, I think her deceptive nature could lead to interesting, manipulative, secretive quests. I just can't see an ultimate goal for her though, but given that she is a very secretive prince, maybe that would be the point.
Meridia and Namira-I really think that the Thalmor weakening Tamriel might open up some area (maybe the Summerset Isles) to necromancy, causing a massive dispute between Meridia and Namira over the cleansing versus the thriving of the undead.
Peryite-I think Peryite's predisposition to disease in a time where a pandemic in the right place could determine the fate of the continent is vital.
Vaermina-I've mentioned this multiple times, but I'll reiterate one last time. Her sphere being a part of basic life (sleep and nightmares) makes any possible province or region a possibility for this, and seeing as she's been ambitious about expanding her region (she inflicted all of Dawnstar with nightmares in Skyrim), I can see something similar to that on a grander scale happening in a later game.
Anyway, let me know what you think of this logic and these ideas, and inform me of your own. Thanks for reading.
