Next DLC Announcement, Part II

Post » Thu Jun 03, 2010 11:57 am

I wonder if some people think that by posting "I give up and am moving on" it will somehow force the sudden arrival of the DLC we're all waiting for.

I can't speak for others that post that they give up and have moved on, but in my case, I don't care one bit whether or when any more DLC's come out. I have moved on, and am not hoping that it forces the sudden arrival of them.

I do agree that if that is the line of thinking, that it will not affect the release schedule one bit. Bethesda/Obsidian will release them on their own time, not the time that us fans want.

The exclusive release of dead Money on XBOX managed to put off a number of fans that were otherwise looking forward to it (myself included), some of whom may have put the game down then and there because of that. Others like me just grew bored with certain aspects that we felt were lacking in the base game. Even if a new DLC came about that rectifies this, I still wouldn't be purchasing or playing it.

IMO it would've been better to capitalize on the excitement of New Vegas as soon as possible instead of taking Microsoft's money for the exclusive release of Dead Money, then proceeding to drag their feet on announcing or releasing anything more.

I recently had a discussion with friends who all play Fallout and although everybody, except 2-3 people with 12 of us in a group, thought FO3 had good replay value everybody after a month of owning FO3 traded it in and waited several months to get The Pitt and OP Anchorage. Then about 2 weeks after they bought it again Broken Steel was released. So by all means the Replay value of a game is affected by DLC and although you can replay a game and find new stuff in a different play-through their is something gratifying about knowing you are gonna get something good out of a quest and don't have to look it up on The Vault.

People are starting not to care.

Some people including me we still care

again, the DLC must be done at this time, it must be Bethesda Softworks (Publishers) who still dont want to announce it, maybe it for testing, or maybe theyre developing another patch before it, or appropiately porting to the other Consoles,
Better a too late DLC but polished then a DLC released fast but rushed

So if Dead Moneys anything to go by, then we can expect mid-may for Honest Hearts >_>

Aww what!?! mid may!?! well at least it's not 2 months but still the wait is unbearable i feel like tipping a [censored] brahmin now!!! :verymad:

I'd say this is the most likely reason. They probably won't release anything until they can patch the base game again, and of course it takes time to port to 3 systems.

my guess is there one repatching the game yet again. and second as far as dlc's go they have to wait for sony and xbox to review it on there systems. then aprove it before they can release it. not to mention fixing any bugs they find. so doing all that since dead money came out can take a bit of time. odds on no anouncement simple if its not close to being ready. or they have no idea how long sony is going to take to aprove it. and sony is know to take there sweet time. cant anounce a release to fans that go nuts when you move a date back. because a console system isnt ready for it yet.

From a business standpoint they are losing money with the delay....casual gamers go on to the next shiny object and the amount of trades using NV is pretty high at gamestores apparently....Bethesda probably knows that the core fans will wait patiently, but the amount of lost revenue I would think is substantial.
It would be cool if Bethesda gave the people on their own forums the first heads up on ANY developments!!!

that is just dumb. Why would you sell a game just to buy it again later on in the future? Like you probably knew you were going to buy it again when the DLC came out... and you probably lost money doing so

i do this all the time and its not dumb? i actually lose no money at all, i bought fallout when it came out then got rid of it after i beat it (mostly cause i was level 14 and one hit lanius with a power fist) then when dead money came out i took back Dead Rising 2 and bought NV when it was on sale used for 24.99, then i bought dead money played new vegas all over again beat dead money took fallout back with 3 other games and got 98$ back because i take advantage of trade in deals (3 games = 10%more 4=20%more and 5=30%more)+(trade in for store credit=20% more)+(i have a power up reward card so that was +20% to). i shouldve gotten 35 back for the 4 games- Gears of War 2, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Medal of Honor (2010), Fallout.

Its only a waste of money when stupid people trade in one game?

It's a waste of money to trade in a game period. You'll never get what you payed in the first place (say all you like about random store offers, do the maths). Plus, when you buy a traded in game, all the money goes to the shop. So you owe Obsidian a bit.

It looks like there might be tribals in Zion, which is what the background looks like in that thumbnail pic. Do want.

Never thought I'd be so excited to see just three screen shots.

Good to finally have something after all this time, if the trailer comes out today or in the next couple of days that would just be grand.

I know. I'm hoping they announce today and get the DLC out by the end of the month. Best scenario.

You know, Mormons are in New Canaan. Mormons are Christians. Christians go to church on Sundays. Today is Sunday.

DLC announcement today. Fitting, no?

Updated the 2nd post with the new info, thanks for the link Butters. ;)

Anyway, the new screens don't exactly make me go ecstatic.
Not because they're low quality but because they don't exactly give away too much.
Seems like there will be tribals in Honest Hearts though.

One thing that I can comment on is the font for the title.
I hate it.
Looks like some spanish soap opera title.
Dunno what I was expecting, still, it ain't very captivating to me.

No problem. :foodndrink:
The one with the canyon excites me a lot. Looks like at the very least, we'll have a big canyon to explore. I'm hoping for a slot canyon or 2 and some old-fashioned use of some rope.

The scenery looks actually quite nice... though, keeping in mind that the pics are so small, they appear to have more detail and better use of color and lighting than what they'll likely have in reality.

I hope that New Canaan will feature it's own large Market with plenty of armed guards.

Beth guys on the scene, maybe they'll announce the date for announcing the trailer to the game? Or maybe the info isn't legit, either way at least somebody checking up on the furom. I haven't seen anyone from Beth on this furom since 2 weeks ago. Hopefully the pics are legit, and if not burn them with fire.

This is what I'm wondering.

I'm not going to get excited until it's all nice and official.
