Next DLC Announcement, Part II

Post » Thu Jun 03, 2010 5:52 am

Hello,
When do you guys think Bethesda or Obsidian will announce the next Fallout New Vegas DLC? I'm hoping it will be in the coming weeks, considering it's almost March and we haven't heard a thing about any of the three upcoming DLC. You can also speculate which of the three DLC (Lonesome Road, Honest Hearts, Old World Blues) or perhaps another title will be first. Hopefully it will be Honest Hearts first and it will be released in late March/ early April.

The original thread is going to reach its post limit soon, so this thread is a continuation of that thread. Please do not engage in Flame Wars over the Enclave or BOS, nor even mention a New Vegas DLC that would extend the game past its ending. It's been said a thousand times that they won't extend the story, so don't even bother talking about it. Please and Thank You. I created the original thread back in February and I was hoping that they would have already released the next dlc by this time. Looks like I was wrong, hell I just want them to at least announce the next dlc, is that too much to ask??? Please Comment on when you think they will announce it and what you think is going to be in the next dlc! Also comment if you hear any announcements or information related to the upcoming dlc. OH Yeah, please don't even mention Mothership Zeta or aliens, since we have already had this discussion. Thanks and Get Posting!!

First thread: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1169932-next-dlc-announcement/
------

April 19th:
By the way.

On NMA in the latest newsarticle Brother None posted this on the forum:

"The trademark filing has been accepted and is now "published for opposition" until April 19th. That has absolutely nothing to do with the DLC publishing date, it means that if someone wants to make a claim on already owning the mark or object on other grounds, he needs to do so before April 19th or the trademark becomes registered and can only be contested in court. Simplified, but you get the idea.

There's no way the next DLC is out April 19th and we've heard nothing of it officially yet. I have no idea what's keeping the DLC, honestly.

First Info:
http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1178053-old-world-blues-info-next-month/
I got the newest issue of the Playstation Magazine, and a preview of next months "Qore" is always featured, next month's has information on Old World Blues.

The subtitle for it says, "Are you the scientist or the guinea pig?"

It's on page 6, and it releases on PSN on the 3rd of May.

Second Info: (Thank you Miles_Acraeus)

Miles_Acraeus got a gmail notification from youtube with a link to a video, while it was marked [Private] he was able to take a screenshot of the web browser: http://oi52.tinypic.com/zityft.jpg

I just got a gmail notification from Youtube, titled; NVDLC02_HonestHearts and a link to said video. But it's [censored] flagged as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhG2siHeQlU

Hopefully it goes public soon...

I was excited to see the vid. What a [censored] tease! I no lie, here is http://oi52.tinypic.com/zityft.jpg

Perhaps they just want to announce it first on the blog...

I went with 4, because they say 3 more r coming out in the coming months realesed on all platforms at the same time. It says this on the fo home page, and 3 plus DM makes 4. I believe them, but I must admit that even I am getting impatient for at least some news.

Well 4 confirmed and those all seem to connect so thats a pretty safe bet, I'm wondering if they'd consider doing more after completing what is essentially a second story I can see them weanting to have dlc up until close to the launch of fallout 4 but I'm wondering if Obsidian would be willing to continue working on the dlc?

I'd rather have Obsidian work on Fallout 4. They're also probably not gonna release dlc around the time Elder scrolls V comes out because of sales and stuff. Besides they should be done by then.....I hope

ok so its tuesday, its been about 5 months since the last dlc. im really pissed and about to freak out, this is rediculous. how long do they expect people to stay interested? really? i think bethesda should have taken the reigns on this game, said screw off to obsidian because theyre slow, the games glitchy, theres only 45 weapon mods. the storys not even close to as powerful as fallout 3 and its just bull. i hope someone from bethesda reads this because im sick of waiting and im done. im not interested. see you on fallout 4

THIS. the time length is wrong but anyway

Hey, Antisocial21, remember to edit in all DLC news into the OP.

(Or I could do it in my 2nd post if you're unavailable.)

No worries, duplicate threads happen.
Is there any more info from the magazine? (Don't give a full scan or write it word for word since that might/is against the rules.)

[edit]
Should probably repost my previous post too:

I'm skeptical as to whether this is true or not since I don't have the magazine and have seen no links to it. (since it isn't allowed to post scans...)
But I'm gonna go with that it's true for this post:

I'm actually disappointed that it's Old World Blues.
I've been looking forward to Graham and the mormons for a very, very, very long time now.
Ugh.
Whatever.
So a month left huh?
Yay...

And "Scientist or guinea pig"?
So we're gonna be under an experiment by someone?
Someone that we cannot kill until the end of the DLC?
Great.
From what little info I have it just makes me think of Dead Money.

And while Dead Money was great I don't want the same thing again.

No, that's all I could get from the Qore preview page, it's mentioned as one of the four games previewed next month, alongside Duke Nukem Forever, Fear 3 and Dirt 3.

Hahaha The plot for this is obvious, courier enters the big empty the mad AI Odysseus traps us inside the facility and we either help it or don't, then find some way to escape.

And dammit i was looking forward to Honest Hearts i don't care about some underground military installation that does horrific experiments on dim witted wastelanders!

Another month is just too much. I'm not one of those who is like "I'm done with Obsidian and/or Bethesda this wait is ridiculous *RAGE*", but come on. Oh well. I do have New Vegas Bounties II to finish and that is similar in quality and larger than the DLCs. It's just that I want my official stuff.

Are we even sure, at this point, that new DLC is coming? With this long a gap and nothing to show for it other than vague reassurances, are we even sure that Obsidian is working on anything new? Or that Bethesda is actually planning on letting anything else see the light of day? We don't even know who to blame for the holdup.

At this point, I'm beyond even expecting a, "Hey, we're working on it." message. I'm not even sure I'll buy any new DLC when it comes out, considering how much of a letdown Dead Money was for me. Besides, going this long without any sort of real news or info send me the message that someone somewhere really doesn't care about us. They, whether Obsidian, Bethesda, or both, know enough people will rush out and buy whatever they put out whenever they put it out, so why bother throwing a bone to the devoted fan base eagerly awaiting more? They could put out pretty much anything at this point, even whatever the F:NV version of horse armor would be (maybe some random piece of decorative armor, or a bobblehead quest), and it would sell.

I'll stick to mods, thanks, If DLC shows up, I can afford it and the reviews are good, then maybe I'll pick it up. Otherwise, I'm done caring.

 Your probably right now why didn't I figure that out sooner. April 19th isn't the next DLC it's just the part of the trademark cycle. Although there is one thing I would add, April 19th is the 6th month mark since New Vegas has been released.

I can certainly understand why some people are getting frustrated with the pace of DLC release. It's sad in that a lot of people who might have otherwise been interested in DLC for New Vegas have moved on at this point. Waiting so long to release Dead Money on PC (in particular) didn't help fans on that platform either - I didn't bother to pick it up until a week or so ago.

As for why, my guess is that there are a couple of possibilities. If I'm not mistaken the Fallout 3 DLC was done by different teams, which meant they were working on several at once. That allowed for a more aggressive release schedule in a shorter time-frame. Obsidian is probably operating in a different way, probably one project at a time. So if that one project falls behind schedule, everything gets pushed back. Or maybe Bethesda simply doesn't see this as being a good time to release DLC, what with all the other March heavy hitters that we've seen. Of course a May release means potentially being overshadowed by the next big RPG release.
