Nobody forces you to play with "Very High" graphic settings.

Every one has an opinion, but i am not the one to play on low res graphics. And computers lag to much! Look at all the threads saying "Oh my computer doesn't run the game" or "What is good to upgrade"!

next time i have the money to buy a pc i wont buy it instead i will buy a console because i hate the constant upgrading of pc's and nearly all good pc games are converted to consoles but not all console games are converted to pc.(do you remember tekken that game was godly many years ago )

The problem is you have to develop for the lowest common denominator (insert obligatory Mencken quote) and in every way that is the consoles but most especially in technology. The ram on these so called next gen machines is less than I had in my computer 12 years ago which must be extrordinarily limiting. That Gears of War and Halo are considered triple A titles says it all for me. If these games had been released on the PC first they would have been considered average and lacklutre, the dearth of substance in them is astounding. Lacking Deus Ex, Thief, Mafia, PST and STW I feel the console only people have never been exposed to the quality a PC gamer has and have lower standards. I know that when I first started gaming on PC (almost exactly 10 years ago when I bought a TNT2) it was an absolute revelation for me with games like H&D and Fallout blowing my mind. That i'd considered Metal GearSolid and Syphon Filter to be good games seems ridiculous now.

The whole upgrade thing is rubbish. A meme propogated by the lazy and stupid. I've spent ?100 on my PC in the last 2 years and it runs everything except crysis at high settings and 40+ FPS. E6600@3GHz, 4 GBs Ram, 8800GTS, 3 TBs HD space and vista 64. It wasn't even like I spent much on building that. ?400 at most. I already had a 20" screen, the case, the PSU and the peripherals. I can't see any point upgrading in the next year either. There's nothing out that'll give me much more than a 15-20% boost in performance so i'll have seen a good 3 years out of ?500 which is a big saving on a ?300 console plus a ?20 premium on every gme I buy (at least one a month).

This thread isn't going anywhere good.

The whole console dumbing down thing is crazy. For example, just look at Morrowind, even if it wasn't made for the x-box, it still sold EXTREMELY well on that platform. This shows that console gamers will buy good games, so Bethesda would have 'gasp' no reason to dumb down games. The whole 'dumbing down' argument is part of a tired old formula for PC elitism.
