next fallout

ever remember playing fallout tactics? how you had to start out as a grunt with crap equipment and work your way up? what if that was in the next one, except with the enclave - not the brotherhood. same new look as in fallout 3 with companions following you but same type of play as tactics. maybe even TBC?

Then it would be Fallout Tactics 2. Nobody wants another Fallout Tactics or BoS

i didnt like fallout tactics, i played it for like 30 minutes it didnt have the magnetism for me like fallout 1,2, and 3 do. *shrug* my opinion though...

as for a fallout 4, let me completely beat this new one first! :D

although the topic posted about "Location for fallout 4" is a good discussion thread. some good ideas posted there. lots of off topic arguments too...bringing up real life politics in a fictional game as part of an argument for your post is silly. We're here to enjoy it. its politics-free!!! :D

to honestly reply, i dont know why i didnt like it either. i think it was because at the time it was released there were other games which i had my mind set on - ones with latest-tech hardware 3D acceleration(forsaken, descent series, etc.), and i just didnt get immediately 'svcked in' by the beginning of Tactics. *shrug*

i'm sure it was a good game if the writers/programmers stuck to the fallout series 'feel', though. just never got into it. i might go back and try it, after i repeatedly beat fallout 3. :D

sure, but just get that feel of being an enclave soldier instead of just wearing their armor ya know? maybe ride around in a verdibird, do heli drops, or even city squad assaults! make it the same fallout feel just a grunt in the enclave stationed at a base.

thanks. maybe they can even touch up the armor a little more, have more classes of it (like the Tesla) and this time include the dang railgun... hopefully i just haven't FOUND it yet and they didn't make the mistake of not including the best gun in the fallout series into fallout 3.

there's a railgun in fallout 3. i have it, i just dont carry it with me(its stored in my locker in my house in Megaton). i prefer the good ol' plasma rifle - reminds me of the fun times i had in fallout 2 turning raiders into piles of goo by melting their flesh off. :D

and the regular 'minigun' - the 5mm ammo version - looks supersweet. check it out with some enclave power armor on if you ever get the chance. sooo sweet looking. :D

you've come across 'railway spikes' already, right? its ammo for the rail gun.

i think the railgun has to be built...i actually cheated and added it to my inventory just to look at it(thats why i dont use it, i cheated to get it so i dont wanna use it :D ). but it is indeed in fallout 3.

by 'regular' i meant "not to be confused with the gatling laser". i think the gatling gun and the 'minigun' are the same, but i might be mistaken. *shrug*

whats NOT in fallout 3(as far as i know) is the alien blaster RIFLE...sure, theres the pistol...but not the rifle. not that it matters, it seems the alien blaster pistol is so uber you turn anything to ash with one shot. heheh. :D

but i do wish they would've included the alien blaster rifle...*shrug* oh well, theres plenty of weapons to choose from as it is, and with today's MOD'ing groups i'm sure there will be many more to come.

thats the railway rifle, thats totally diffrent. the railgun uses something like highly magnetized rounds through this long barrel... it would devastate people back in fallout 2

yea, you're right - it IS the railway rifle...i thought you were talking about that. my bad. have you tried using the railway rifle? it might be "essentially" the same thing, just renamed and a different look. its been almost 10 years since i played fallout 2, so i cant remember too much from it other than the memories of joy it brings up. :D

naw its different. the railway rifle shoots nails the railgun shot a frickin hole in you about the size of a bowling ball. back on subject though (thread might get deleted) what would you like to see in the next fallout (if it was like the enclave)

sorry, i have a tendency to follow tangents. back on topic. :D

i think a diversion from the US mccarthy-era satire, by placing it in another nation/area where nuclear war tensions were high(berlin/europe...moscow?) might be fun. it would take painstaking research on the developers' part to make it draw a player into it like fallout does. they'd have to really research the nations'/region's history.

also, the enclave idea is a good one...instead of starting in a vault, start on the exact opposite position of "we're the legitimate govt now, bow before us". but then again that can almost be accomplished through karma and quests in fallout 1/2/3 already.

i have not yet figured out if there are vehicles capable of being driven/flown/whatever in fallout 3, as you could acquire a car in fallout 2. i have come across a 'motorcycle gas tank' in fallout 3, which hints that there may be a personal vehicle to speed up travel over the irregular wastes...but i'm not that far yet. i spent most of today trying to find three dog and the GNR HQ cuz i got lost. :D

a definite though would be more weapons, more pipboy options(the radio is great, more things like that); and my dream would be a HUGE world map, which spanned multiple continents, or at least an entire continent, allowing the player-character to sample the post-apocalyptic flavor of survivors from various regions of the globe, and their new attitudes due to the world being a radioactive sess pool. :D

however this doesnt require a new fallout, more like a large fallout 3 expansion.

my 2 cents anyway. ;)

The gauss-weapons go closest to the actual "railguns", I believe.

But that's really off topic.

I personally kind of enjoyed Fallout Tactics (though I haven't finished it yet) for it was the first Fallout I ever played, and I like to consider it at least semi-canon, but that's not the point either. Actually, forget my point, I can't fit it in right now, but nothing like Tactics, really and if it is something like the BoS, well, it'd better not!

Gauss rifle... that's right that's what i meant. i heard it in one of the dc buildings of a railgun and i forgot the name.

but yeah i just think it would be awesome being an enclave soldier maybe jumping to different bases all over the u.s.a. like go to Navarro then head to dc and stuff like that. could even see both the presidents and mabye even fight the vault dwellers :D
