Next-gen console Skyrim coming soon?

Post » Fri Jan 10, 2014 5:18 am

I found this on Neoseeker and checked for myself:

http://gamesas.com/en-us/games/skyrim

In the lower left, right under the box pic it lists the PS4 and Xbox One after the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. It seems all sorts of legit. Is an announcement right around the corner? As someone who only played on the 360, I would love an excuse to dive back in again and stay for awhile.

Good eye, that is interesting. I highly doubt it is a next-gen Skyrim but perhaps something to do with backwards compatibility?

I only get

Available now on http://www.elderscrolls.com/skyrim/pre-order/, http://www.elderscrolls.com/skyrim/pre-order/ and http://www.elderscrolls.com/skyrim/pre-order/

I guess it was an sort of bug as they collect platforms from an database and it was correct later.

be still my aching heart. Maybe it is supposed to have them all listed but only have the one's that apply in bold?

I wouldn't mind at all, i prefer my Xbox One controller over my 360 controller

the font for the emails are fallout style though o_O

I hope not.
Perhaps it was a mistake and was supposed to be next gen consoles with ESO.

It seems to get more interesting, multiple sources are reporting that they received emails about a special announcement on #Bethblog and gamesas.com on January 12th.

http://www.onlysp.com/bethesda-website-lists-xbox-one-and-ps4-version-on-skyrim-game-page/

That text does look like Fallout 3's, though. Some of the Reddit posters think it's a Fallout 4 announcement.

Wonder what would really change? Bug fixes (that PC has -through the unofficial patch?)? Graphical update?

If it was a remastered pre-Skyrim TES main title on next gen, I'd be fine.
Imagine if they remastered Daggerfall, with better controls, controller friendly, and 3d graphics.

But rereleasing Skyrim or even remastering it when it's the most recent game would be a dumb decision.

Edited, and that site along with several Reddit posters all got that email. Something will be announced on January 12th and I think it's something big. I doubt BGS would go to all this trouble for some new t-shirt in the shop.

Maybe backward capability might still happen?

After an experience with a game from another company, I have my hopes firmly under my heel.

- Other theories as to the announcement are Fallout, Fallout 2, and Tactics being made available on the store and/or Steam. Also very possible.

Cool find, always thought a re-release for XB1 and PS4 been likely and this doesn't exactly lower my expectations of it either

Larger textures, higher resolution, higher framerate and generally simply just run nicer because of the larger amounts of RAM compared to the current console versions. I reckon that's it. That said, this is pure speculation from my part as I have no inside info

Nah, not dumb at all. With Skyrim they already have a High Resolution Texture Pack DLC for the PC they can include in a new console version without any effort. It's easy money, even if it doesn't sell 1/100th of the original Skyrim sales.

Agreed

This is exciting. Not many games for PS4 right now so I'd get this.

Glad to see I was wrong about Skyrim not coming to next gen consoles.

I can't wait! :D

It seems it also on this page. Just regular Skyrim, not the Legendary Edition.

I have been having a feeling for over a year that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be coming out on the new consoles from Microsoft and SONY that are out now for sale. From stuff I found from searching all over the internet on websites.

Hopfully the PC version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim gets a free patch that updates the graphics to a 64 bit executable, DirectX 11, more particles to render, more NPC's to render, higher polygon count for NPC's and all of the items you can carry in your inventory, and dynamic volumetric fog, mist, and steam. I can dream right?

I said it many times in a few topics in lots of comments but people never believed me.

I would be surprised though if it's just a announcement for the 3 old Fallout video games getting re-released on Steam and gog.com.

It would also be surprising if Fallout 4 gets announced instead and gets released in 2015 I have also been saying for about a year that Fallout 4 will be released in 2015 as well.

As long the game freezes and lag are tempered a lot (meaning I do expect some but not as much I have experienced since LE patch was sent out), and made specifically for the latest generation systems, then I am game to buy it. I still think backward capability though and, if that is the case, then wait until either FO4 or Witcher 3 comes out, whichever is first, to buy X1.

I don't see it.

Nor do I see the point for such release.

Skyrim is such a huge game that in fact I bet the vast majority of people who bought it didn't finish the vanilla game let alone expansions. But if they were to release the Legendary edition with PC graphics upgrades to the next gen consoles I would want to buy it.

I mean let's be honest, next gen has little to no RPG's on them right now. Closest we get is ESO in June, but then it's September or later before Dragon Age III and Witcher 3 is out for Xbox One. That is a pretty big gap in the market. And since next gen consoles are running standard PC x86 architecture they should be fairly easy to port over to.

And maybe they could be clever and add a little bit of DLC that ties in with the upcoming ESO game in June (for consoles).

It's only on the US version of the site - if I click on International, it only lists the 3 old platforms (360, PS3 and PC) but if I choose USA, it lists the PS4 and Xbox One.
