Is This the Next Novel? — January 3, 2011
Amazon.com has started listing a book called "Lord of Souls: An Elder Scrolls Novel" by Greg Keyes, which sounds like it could be the followup to 2009's The Infernal City. According to Amazon, the book is due out on September 27 and has ISBN 978-0345508027, but there are no other details. There's nothing yet on amazon.co.uk or other international sites either.

The listing is http://www.amazon.com/Lord-Souls-Elder-Scrolls-Novel/dp/0345508025/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1294096832&sr=8-2

Very interesting... I guess we'll just have to wait and see if they confirm it.

Edit* I just tweeted good ole Pete Hines about this. I'm not believing it until I hear it from him or another official source.
I really hope it's true though, I loved the Infernal City.

I don't see why it would be anything else. Personally I wasn't a big fan of The Infernal City but I'll try to stay posted on this one nonetheless.

I did not like The Infernal City to be honest but I want to see the story.

The author is different on this book so it might improve.

No, its not. The author is still Greg Keyes. Click on the name and you will see a listing to Infernal City.

I for one enjoyed Infernal City, and am looking forward to this. My only gripe is... September? Seriously?
When did IC come out, December of 2009? This seems pretty damn excessive to me.

I wonder if they want to release it nearer to Skyrim, just ride the hype train a little longer.

Where in the world did you get that idea? Greg Keyes is still the author...

I'd also like to point out that if it was certain things that happened in the novel such as
Spoiler
Morrowind getting destroyed and invaded
then that's not Greg Keyes' fault at all. That stuff was already in the lore of the series and keep in mind everything he made up had to be approved by the folks at Bethesda. If it was just his writing style you did not like that I can understand. As that's more a matter of your personal taste in writers.

Then my suspicions have been totally confirmed. This book will likely be both longer and more professional due to a later deadline and more proofs.

I thought the infernal city was "ok" but "lord of souls" is a fitting title. I just hope it comes out before TESV.

Infernal City wasn't too bad. Not the best book I've read, but reasonable. I do hope "Lord of Souls" will be an improvement.

Infernal Souls was good fanfiction, IMO.Enjoyable, light read. Not terrible. I hope the second one is better.

By no means official; but this is a good indication of when we can expect the next Elder scrolls novel. According to Amazon's stealth posting it's being released September 27, 2011.

I don't know when the information was made available. Someone directed me to it a week or two ago. I don't think it's been known very long since I searched the boards about it around the time the Skyrim announcement was made and I couldn't find anything.
