You are an Android built in 2241 by Dr.Zimmer you along with another Android called harkness where built together you are considered the superier one,Harkness is ordered to join the Synch Retention Bearue the agency of the Commonwealth Police tasked with hunting down escaped androids.he eventually dissapears about 20 years later you have been in storage for the last 25 years deemed to valuable to loose.But since Harkness escaped,And Zimmer hasn;t returned persumed killed,you are brought out of storage,the scientist ignorant of how valuable you are they make you a member of the Synch Retention Bereu you hunt many androids down they begin flooding your head with ideals of self determination,freedom to be your own person,you return to the insitiute and ask the scientist nearest to you do androids have souls? are we human like you? This scares the scientists who then order your dissmantlement in fear of an uprising,Dr.li the newely apointed cheif scientist helps you escape,much to the dissamay to Zimmers son,zachariah Zimmer who is feared even by the scientists of the institute.Doctor Li leads you outisde the gates and tells you to find an group called the Railroad she tells you they will take care off you,DR LI runs back into the insitute you hear sirens,you know what this means they Retention unit is after you.You run for your life the two androids chasing you are blown up by a mine,you see a familar face its Harkness he's come back now the leader of the Railroad he is joined by a large group of soldiers all in poor armour and equipment they bring you back to their base located underground where the lead technition gives you a face projector this alowes you to choose you gender and facial appearence.

If it is in the Commonwealth, the player shouldn't be an android; they would be superhuman and hunted relentlessly by Commonwealth authorities. This would severely restrict player freedom of choice.

Would be better if we got to choose ourselves if we wanted to be a vault-born, wastelander, skag, trogdolyte, super mutant, ghoul or android like in ES where we can choose our race. (One of the things from ES I actually want to have in Fallout. (Greater replayability.))

Thats not to say that a voyage of self discovery for a robot wouldn't be a great story, but I don't think its very fallout.

Fallout is about humanity after the bomb (and its two new subspecies).

No. Not only do I not want to play as an android, I don't want to see them in FO 4. There were enough of them in FO 3. Pinkerton, Zimmer and bodyguard. Railroad chick and Harkness. That was plenty enough for my fo career.

I'd prefer if the character background was mostly a clean slate like the Courier (though that might be changed with DLC, I hope Ulysses has a minor place in the story and doesn't invalidate the past I made for my character already), and I'd like that to continue. Choosing races would be great, so android should be an option if you are on the East Coast. Though, if a lot of energy is spent on fleshing out each race I would prefer that content wouldn't actually suffer because of it, but yeah.

I really don't want to play as an Android in any Fallout game. Not only do I find the idea of playing as a soulless machine unappealing, but I have a feeling that it would end up making the storyline of the game a bad copy of Blade Runner considering what we know about the Commonwealth.

I've never liked the androids in Fallout. In a world where ZAX was the most sophisticated computer ever, human sized sapient robots really don't fit in.

Well, like with MZ we may not like it but it's canon. (I do think androids are far fetched but if there is a reasonable explanation for this sudden jump in technology then it's fine for me, and I don't mind aliens in Fallout either, what I do mind is how they were designed in MZ.)

If I was forced to be one, then no (unless it was possible to show the machinery underneath the skin through options in the Character creator).

I'm for this idea. Were it the default, I think the storyline would be along the lines of the whole Harkness/"The Replicated Man" story, where you're an android and don't know it. Too "Blade Runner" for Fallout. It's been done. Created class, however, could be interesting.

I've counted more refrences to van buren stuff and Arizona more than the commonwealth.

ZAX was developed by Vault-Tec, thus the most sophisticated tech in the first two games. But the Commonwealth and the Institute are autonomous and could have had android tech all along.
