Next TES location vote

Post » Mon Nov 28, 2011 12:45 am

i voted black marsh. why? i think its time for a high fantasy game after the rather tame (fantasy world speaking) oblivion and skyrim. and plus with the new more advanced series of consoles soon to arrive it goes without saying that black marsh could be a stunning experience with the proper ambition by the development team. and experiencing argonian culture could be very interesting.

Elsweyr. Deserts, jungles, and the skooma trade. Doesn't get much better than that!

You are being sarcastic right? Argonians are basically the most popular race.

The Argonians had a huge surge of popularity during the pre-release media due to the lack of their screenshots for the longest time. That was basically just everybody jumping on the Argonian bandwagon.

Why does it have to be a specific province? Why not just an area, a la Daggerfall (albeit much smaller)?

My vote is for a smallish rectangle of the northern part of Topal Bay. Eastern Elsewyr, Western Black Marsh, and a likely much-changed Southern Cyrodiil/Niben Bay. A whole game of pretty much desert or swamp - with almost all cat-people or lizard-people - seems to me like it could well just be too much and really stretch the theme a little thin; and let's face it, it's unlikely to be as generally popular either. Topal Bay area would give enough of each to keep things interesting, as well as keeping the human "more normal" face on things with Southern Cyrodiil. A return to Leyawiin after a few hundred years of the various upheavals could really anchor things and also show how much has changed. Potential for a lot more interesting political stuff with bits of multiple provinces, as well.

I disagree. There are tons of generic humanish medievalish fantasy games and movies on the market. I think making the TES in the beast races provinces would be a smart move from Bethesda. If this poll is an indicator, the community here will be excited to see Bethesda put out something weird and daring, while the general public will be intrigued by the Argonian/Khajiit protagonist. It's fresh, it's unusual and a good portion of gamers are seeking for something truly original with nowadays copy/pasta industry.

Hence why I suggested Topal Bay, so you get a bit of both, plus a little bit of Imperial for contrast and normalcy. Because while both are interesting, I think a whole game of Khajiit or Argonians in a whole game of desert or swamp would be really stretching the friendship. Give me a bit of each, and we're really getting somewhere. You know, kind of Quest for Glory 3 style.

The poll is a miniscule representation of what the fans on this board would like to see, not their target market. While I'm certain Beth's online community here would love for this, that doesn't mean that its a smart investment by far. Like I said, people prefer to play something they relate to. Morrowind was odd, unique, and detailed yet I only knew two people in my area who played Morrowind. When Oblivion hit the shelfs, I knew alooot of people. Sadly, the mundane sells better than unique and Beth is a company who's looking to make money, not just please its community.

Summerset Isles/Alinor, without a doubt. Black Marsh sounds like a bloody boring place as a game setting, and its clear that the Thalmor are set up as a recurring antagonist for the series.

I would like TES6 to NOT be another single province, full province game. Tamriel is supposed to be huge, and it feels huge when playing Daggerfall, for example. The map is generic but enormous and the setting is not even an entire province.

I think that the size of the game worlds in Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim are good, but why does it have to be ALL of Cyrodiil and ALL of Skyrim? Just call it a fraction of the provinces instead. Contrary to Daggerfall, when I play Oblivion I feel that Tamriel is tiny, since it is possible to jog from on side of the imperial province to the other during a coffee break...

ditto!

My thoughts exactly!
I'd like to see some daggerfall-style map, taking place in parts of a couple of provinces, for example western valenwood with the eastern summerset island, or the topal sea coast only showing the coasts of elseweyr and black marsh. Or, just one huge city (but really realistic sized) with very few surroundings.

wow, polycrates, I've just seen your post after writing this lol

Long have I been awaiting the return to my homeland of Black Marsh. I am homesick, and in need of my brethren.

We have had lots of elderscrolls, in the volcanoes of morrowind, to the urban of cyrodiil, to frost of skyrim, Right now I want a desert area, so its either elsweyr or hammerfell

Glad to see that i'm not the only one who goes for Elsewyr/Hammerfell. Black Marsh would be awesome, but it seems very unlikely. I'd really love to see a TES game on Elsewyr, because it is a VERY interesting province, Khajiit are awesome as they're presented in the recent chapters, but I would like to see more of their variations. Give me elvish looking tatooed people riding giant cats, Beth! Give me a sight of Anequina!

Hammerfell would be a very interesting one, too - just imagine the markets of Sentinel, the caravans in the desert, the ports, the sea - oh, to be a pirate! I can a see a lot of people complaining that TES: Redguard was already centered at the Redguards, even though very few people have actually played the game.

My bet is that the next game will more likely be based on Summerset Isles, tough. And why not, that would be nice as well.

With the way the thalmer were handled in Skyrim I would not be surprised if the next game was set in the Summerset Isles.

If they do an expansion which they claim they won't it'll be summerset isles.

A lot of other provinces have lots of cool wildlife and environments so I'm not sure. Any province is good enough for me, but I'm not fond of going to High Rock since it would be another medieval-europe thing. I really like exotic wildlife as well, so here's some things I'd think would be cool to see in a province.

Valenwood's wildlife could include monkeys, panthers, colourful birds or even dinosaurs xD! Also there is a new race, the ape-like Imga.

Elsweyr's wildlife could include ferocious felines that aren't khajiit, elephants, zebras, and african style wildlife.

Black Marsh's wildlife could include alligators, slime monsters, giant insects, snakes, and carnivorous plants. The Kothringi are a different race as well. But I guess they are just pale-skinned human natives. Argonians are very mysterious as well so it would be great to know a lot more about them.

Summerset Isle's wildlife could include who knows what. Nothing is really known about it. I imagine Summerset Isle to be kinda like some sort of fairyland so maybe pixies xD!
