Nexus registration

Post » Sun May 18, 2014 3:08 am

I've tried to register on Nexus several times so I can download files larger than 2MB, but they never send the email confirmation and there's no "contact us" link that I can find on their website. Anyone have a direct link where I can send an email to the webmaster?

If using gmail or Yahoo mail you might have issues with the registration since they might be blocking it thinking it is spam.

Yeah, some email sites will send it to spam. I signed up many years ago, but I seem to remember having to use my hotmail account to ever get the email actually sent to me.

Thanks. I have AT&T DSL and they were taken over by them yahoos at Yahoo, so that's probably it. I have a Gmail account that I had to create when them yahoos took over YouTube (had to create a new account because I couldn't log into the sniper297 one anymore and they wouldn't let me use the same email address) so I tried that and it did work.

Is it just me or do them captchya graphics eliminate more old geezers squinting at the letters through greasy bifocals than they do 'bots? Reset reset reset I still can't figure out what the letters are supposed to be, maybe I'm a 'bot. :brokencomputer:

They are designed to keep us old geezers out. And quite often the letters look like it is graffiti lettering and the horrible internet elite language.

Most of them have the audio option that reads the letters for you -- I find using it helps on the hard to read ones !

WHAT?!! SPEAK UP WHIPPERSNAPPER, ENUNCIATE, DON'T MUMBLE! :stare:

I actually tried that, can't hear what they're saying either. There's intentionally background noise that muddies the sound, and I got decades of factory machines and jet engines still ringing in my ears. Some captchya images are readable, the ones used by that website aren't, but the audio option is actually worse for me.

I had a Captcha once that allowed me to choose answers from a drop-down menu. I loved it.

I had a hell of a time getting registered for that site using my hotmail account. Had to go through the whole registration process five or six times at least. Finally worked.

Logging on to that site is a pain in the butt too but not nearly as much trouble a registering.

The whole register/login process for the nexus site is borked. Luckily, once you are registered and logged in, the site works well and has a lot to offer.

What is funny about those graphics where you have to determine the letters, they are mostly unrecognized text from OCR scans. There are projects to scan historical documents into computer databases and they are crowd sourcing the interpretation of the letters so they better program the scanners or at least fix the database entries. Since they can't be recognized from OCR scanners, they are perfect for verifying that someone who is accessing the site is a human.

And, yes, I hate having to prove I am a human.
