Nexus Sights Going Under New Design Now

Post » Wed Aug 24, 2011 8:31 am

What is your opinion on the new design? Personally, the screenies looked really nice. I am excited that it will be done, but not that I have to wait to get on the nexus.

If you go to the nexus, there is an article about the new design. It gives you a link to the article in the new design. Just look for the article

*goes to look*

Perhaps link it in the OP for everyone else to find?? Also this is probably the wrong section, as I assume this applies to the Fallout and Dragon Age Nexus' etc.??

I am currently only playing Oblivion, so I am primarily talking about tesnexus. Plus, there is no general mods forum. On the bright side, I got the day right. They just took the site down. There is now no point in linking the article, by the time the link would work, the new site will be up.(yay)

Down for me so no false alarm. Does have this message though

Design change-over day!
Tue 23rd of August 2011, 14:00GMT

Today's the day; I'm moving over to the brand-spanking new design I've been talking about in the news and blog the past few months!

To ensure a swift and clean change-over the sites are being taken down one at a time so please bear with me while I get it all sorted.

How long? Hopefully no more than an hour.

I don't care how the new design looks just as long as the site is still easy to navigate.

My first message the site was just down. It did not have any message nor the dreaded mysql database is down. The site was simply down.

That looks truly ghastly.

I can only hope they do not bother "upgrading" the site. It looks much nicer as it is.

I've always been a fan of the font, comic sans ms. The whole site now reminds me of that.

Perhaps I have not been keeping up with site design trends, of late. As far as I can see, it should now be nominated for ugliest modding website of the year award - if there even is such a thing...

When actually looking at it for everything, it is WAY too bright. I do like the added options of the UI though.

They went overboard more than just a little which is making me want to :brokencomputer: . Eh, it isn't too bad.

Personally I don't care much about the underlying design if the new design supports the old functionality. Unfortunately, based on what I've seen so far it does not. Most notably I haven't been able to figure out how to get the Tracking Center to work the way I previously used it. Formerly there was an option to only display file updates, and it would give you everything on the base page so I could easily identify revisions to things that I needed.

I haven't been able to figure out a way to get the Tracking Center to work the same way in the new version. There doesn't appear to be a way to display/sort only based on file updates (as opposed to other changes), and rather than showing you the details on the base page you need to click on a gear icon to see the changes for each respective mod. Based on what I've seen so far, checking for actual mod updates I care about will become much more time consuming for me. So, in that respect, I don't care for the new design.

Hopefully this is just a matter of me missing the option somehow, but if that's the case then it would at least suggest the new design isn't immediately intuitive.

Okay, wow, I really don't like this new look, but it's serviceable so I suppose I'll get used to it with time. Bigger problem, It isn't working right for me. On mod pages I can only view the description, clicking on the buttons for files, images, videos, comments, etc doesn't do anything. Hopefully that gets fixed soon.

Hmm, I like the new clean design but don't really care for the colour scheme. And yeah, miss the tracking centre filters.

Thanks very much for redesigning the site, whoever is responsible for it. It was in desperate need of an overhaul and a more modern look. I like the new layout and fonts!

Why yellow? Love the design but not the colours so much...still, can't please everyone can you? He's done a great job of it. Maybe in the future a "choose your own colour" feature? My highschool website had that, and they couldn't even get everyones passwords working for the whole 2 years it was up...
