No NFC on new Fallout 4 dolls?

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 3:17 am

I just noticed that there will be collectible toys for Fallout 4. (I tried to put link here, but I dont have permission)
I just wonder that why do they not have NFC possibility to add some in-game profit or something.
Like in Fallout 3 you had the Vaul-TEC Bubbleheads to up-boost your abilities. Lets bring that in real life with NFC toys like Skylanders, Amiibos or Inifinities.
- In case someone wonders how to use them without "portal" , I think most phones and tablets have NFC built-in, and we are going to have a PIP-Boy app there... Got the picture? Touch the PIP-Boy (your phone) with the toy.

GodDAMNIT no. Period WHY THE [censored] should I have to keep shelling out money just to be able to play the game with one "Micro-transaction" after another after another, Especially one that is at the mercy of having to find it after they stop making some [censored] "Limited edition BUY ALL OF THEM NOW! Scam "Toy".

Now in the interest of fairness let me post a link to someone who actualy has a nice opinion of all of this...

the thing is IN THEORY Ammiboes are a ok Idea but theres 2 problems.

One It is a way to backdoor micro transactions into the game and

Two your at the mercy of the company producing them and the production will always be limmited

whats ok is if they do relitivly minor things where it does not realy help if you have one or hurt if you dont have one, (custom outfit/item for example that is not more powerfull than what you can get normaly in game, for example if you got a leveled http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Harkon%27s_Swordin Fallout or a 10mm Pistol named AMATA in Skyrim, AND if Bethesda was also the kind of company that could put out toys like that on a consistant basis because Hey they put out games like that on a consistant basis...

Pfft. I'm not a fan of the whole "Amiibo" model. It's a cash sink hell.

I dont mind the Bobbleheads you found in FO3. (I always took Perks to boost stats so sometimes they did nothing for me). I think it was a bit trite though, I dont think they should have boosted stats.

I have no idea what you are talking about in regards to Ammiboes. Never heard that word before (also never played an Elder Scrolls game after Arena).

I would like the ability to have a Trophy room in Garytown though. Perhaps where I could store the bobbleheads I find. Id probably recruit Sierra Petrovita to staff it or something.

Vault Boy Amiibos? Yes please! They could boost a skill related to the amiibo, like an irl bobblehead, this combined with the limited pipboys would be great. You could scan a bobblehead with your smartphone, which is in your pipboy! :tops:

ok assumming that they are 12.99 each (and some are 20 for whatever reason)

first off SPECIAL thats $90.93

Skills? thats another 13 or 14 toys so figure another $168......

oh and lets also have the ghoul figur unlock the ghoul race for your character! thats 20, (and if they were realy !@# about it they would make it per gender so you need 2

and if they are going to let ghouls be playable. . .SUPERMUTANTS! 40$$$$

oh and while were at it, Strip out Dogmeat and make him a RARE colectable heck make you have to pay for each companion. . . no! Wait! I HAVE IT! put each Bethebo in its own blind box so you dont know what your getting and charge 69.99 for each box! you will need to buy dozens just to get a chance at the ultra rare companions or Ghoul supermutant!

errr.. no thanks.

If they want to make some bobblehead merchandise... sure go nuts... I'm sure they'll sell well. They don't need the gimmick of buy this and get it ingame as well, particularly not something that is easily added through mods. Plus if there are bobbleheads in FO4, I'd prefer to search for them in game rather than in search for them in a store.

Sounds like an very expensive and annoying way to add microtransactions to me, and only that.

No its nothing wrong with collectibles.

However linking them to microtransactions to unlock game features is worse than pure microtransactions.

First you have to pay for both the figure to unlock it, making it more expensive than an pure microtransaction.

Second you need the figure to unlock the feature so if you cant find it or leave it somewhere else you are stuck.

Any physical item you NEED to buy to get a INGAME advantidge, is blatently a ploy to CUT up the game content and sell it in sepperate parts (So, basicly it's DLC all over again.) I would never want that kind of nonsense to be done for Fallout or anny game that is close to my heart. If they want to market Bobbleheads of the various specials, go ahead and do it as collectables, but dont link it to ingame exclusives please

No not DLC as in Fallout 3/NV or Skyrim DLC who are made after the game was finished to add more content, and yes to earn more money.

Correct world is unlock. You pay to unlock features already in the game. In addition you have payed the full price for the game so they don't have the free to play excuse.

Skylanders was an amusing idea when it came out - and it worked well for little kids (and older "little kids") who already like to collect physical toys.

...but now, between several editions of Skylanders, Disney Infinity, Lego, Amiibo - yeesh, it's getting out of hand.

(It's sort of a shame about Skylanders, really - I loved the Spyro games back in the old days, but the odds of getting a new one like the old ones is zero.)

i think that this model is good for children, or atleast thats where i see it being most effective. Why anyone who had to spend there own money would buy into such an obvious cash grab is beyond me. I think that collectibles should be just that, something for fans to buy and put on a shelf or something. I couldn't imagine buying a dozen of these things and lining them up by my computer to unlock features in a game and still have self respect for myself.

No, no, no, no, . . . no.

No backdoor micro-transactions, they're just horrible. Unless it's free to play, no game should ever have micros for in game bonuses, period. Even free to play games are predatory through these schemes. Todd Howard clearly has a definite distrust of them, as he made sure to mention that there are no paywalls or other tricks in Fallout Shelter. They offer a small bonus for a free game that you don't even need, but I don't believe for a second that is going to become a thing within BGS' single player games. If they ask for money for extras, it's going to be DLC and have a decent amount of effort put into it.
