nGCD - Got No Class

Post » Thu Aug 19, 2010 3:53 am

I am not sure if I am understanding the use of this file for in-progress characters:

To remove the class from an existing character, use ShowClassMenu at the console. Your skills will be reset to 5 plus racial modifiers, and the +5 bonus
to c;ass attributes will be removed. You will no longer have major skills or a
class specialization, which means that all of your skills will advance at the
slower Minor Skill rate.

Can you use this to start a character all over again or are you just stuck with a classless character that will never excel in any one thing?

You can start any character over with ShowClassMenu, no need for a mod. Got No Class is intended for those who want the challenge of a character with no initial bonuses.

nGCD, Realistic Leveling, or some similar mod is recommended because otherwise there's no way to gain a level.

So you have to use a leveling mod with the no character class then?

Good I can use that command. He got to level 5 so fast with me installing, uninstalling things, etc. Now that I am getting a better understanding of the game and setting up things, I want to start over from level 1.

I performed the command and all it did was bring up the original class menu with no change to my level.

Change your class, it should reset all skills. Then just change back.

It didn't change my level though. I didn't notice if it changed anything else as that was the only thing I paid attention to when I did it.

Why don't you just start a new character than going through all this hassle?

Ahh... I never noticed that, because I always have nGCD active and it immediately recalculates level. :)

Easily fixed, though: player.SetLevel 1

If your other attributes don't reset, swapping to/from another race with ShowRaceMenu will probably reset them.

Using Wrye Bash, you could start a new character and then import everything except the level from your old character - voila, you're done.

I went ahead and created a new character, more in-tune with a certain other 'famous' character, as you can see in the General Oblivion thread someone has up about a thief poll. Let's see how it goes.

@A5ATAR, I don't see any wrye bash options for importing anything except the face.

I don't know. Are the benefits for gaining a level selected at level-up, or based on your class? If class-based, it might not work out well. Worth asking about it in that mod's thread, probably.

You select the skills at level up. It's not class based. I will try the thread.

EDIT: I found the thread.
