NHL Playoffs

Halak is really all the Habs have going for them. If his hot streak ends, they're sunk. They also need to be better about getting the puck out of their own zone. They can't give Pittsburgh 15+ minutes per period in the offensive zone and expect things to go well for them. On the one hand, Pittsburgh is well-rested, on the other, Montreal is still riding the high of a major upset. Ordinarily I'd say Pittsburgh in four, maybe five, but with the way Halak has been playing it's really hard to say.

Penguins in 5 . . . but I would've said the same about the Capitals and look what happened to them!

Dammit! Staal's out for the rest of the season. Poor guy.

Go Pens!

I think I'll root for Boston and Vancouver today. I really don't care who wins, but those are the two teams I'll root for today.

Ha good. Now only if that was Crosby.

Oh and explain this to me.The first team to advance from the first round is the last team to play? How did the Canadiens get a regular schedule while the Flyers had to weight 8 days?

Haha! Bylsma is now saying he is NOT out for the season. I guess it depends on how far the Pens go.

That was totally unfair to the Canadiens. I usually don't buy into the whole "Gary Bettman loves the Penguins and gives them preferential treatment" crap, but in this case I think Pittsburgh was given a big edge by the NHL. I don't think having an extra day or two would've changed the outcome of the game, but with that being said, why not give Montreal an extra day's rest.

As far as the Flyers go, that's a big layoff -- unfair as well. You won't see my cry, though. We hate the Flyers here in Pittsburgh. :D

I would not put it past the NHL to favor teams like the Pens or Caps since they have the faces of hockey playing for them. That happens in every league though I guess. The Tom Brady rule for example.Still teams are able to beat them so its no excuse.

That loss just feels so wrong an undeserving.

I thought the Flyers were going to pull it out there in the end.

I know, if Carcillo was an actual shooter he would of had the 5 hole easily on that breakaway.Still the OT was amazing back and forth with some impossible saves by both goalies.

Big win by the Canucks last night! I'm a little surprised they made it look so easy. Also, I'm interested to see how the Pens play today after losing Staal. I have a feeling the Canadiens are going to come out flying.

Ugh. Well, my bracket's already way off, because I had Washington winning it all, beating Chicago. Now I don't know what to think.

Coming out strong hasn't been their problem, though. Coming out strong in the second period, on the other hand...

Montreal is seriously the luckiest team in hockey. How do you get outplayed so badly and so often yet keep winning?

Nice win by the Canadiens! Halak was back to his old self. Pittsburgh had all the chances in the world and couldn't score. They dominated almost the whole game, but didn't put the puck in the net. If you keep the Penguins under 3 goals, I think you can be them almost every time.

Halak.

I totally agree. The Pens have shown how they can be beaten. Fluery will give up at least 2 goals a night. The Pens have to score 3 or more to win. Stop them from doing that, and you win!

I'm not liking the Red Wings chances now. Maybe they should try putting in Osgood like they did back in 2008 when Hasek wasn't cutting it.

I wouldn't count them out yet; however, they need to win both of their games at home to have a realistic chance.

The guys on ESPN think they have a shot still, too. I think they can do it, but they have not been playing well at home so far in the playoffs (I think they won once vs the Yotes).

Believe me. I know the feeling. I think the Pens are 2-3 at home. Not a good home record at all, if you ask me.

So apparently Flyers think they can win by letting the other team constantly have the lead.I decided to take a look at the facebook page of the Flyers, typical Philly fans there.Makes me happy the Flyers are the only Philly team I like.

Don't even get me started on typical Philly fans. I'm friends with more than a few. I'm going to say the same thing about the Flyers I said about the Red Wings: They need to win the next two games at home, or they will be done.

I'm glad to see Chicago won last night. I find that to be an entertaining series so far. In the end, I don't care who wins that one.

As far as tonight's games go, Detroit has to win or else they are in real trouble. The Penguins don't *have* to win, but I think they need to win prevent Montreal from really building up momentum. Go Pens!

I thought the Canucks had it, then BAM! The Blackhawks came out of nowhere to take it back. I care, GO Canucks GO!! :P

The Canadiens last game was a good watch. Looking forward to tonight's game.

Funny thing, I've never been big on watching sports. Hockey is about all I care to take any interest from time to time. Since getting my new 40" HD TV I've found games much more entertaining. I can see the puck now! So have been watching a lot more hockey.

I’m a fan of Ryan Kesler, so if I had to choose, I’d root for the Canucks.

HD is the best way to watch a hockey game on tv. I remember many years ago the tv networks (NBC, I think) used to make the puck glow blue on the screen or look like a flaming comet on slapshots. Boy was that a bust!
