NHL Playoffs

I certainly don't see them blowing this one.

That's more than I can say for the Pens! Another great game by Halak. Nice work, Habs. We'll see you back in Pittsburgh.

The Sharks look like they are losing it, 2 misconduct penalties at 10 minutes apiece.

The Pittsburgh/Montreal series is turning out a lot more competitive than I had originally anticipated. Halak can game!

I agree. If Pittsburgh doesn't get their act together soon, they will lose the series.

Is it just me or does Sidney look pissed off all the time?

It was a pretty exciting game. The second wasn't looking good but the 3rd was pretty action packed.

Here's hoping the Canucks get on the ball and start crushing skulls tonight. Go Canucks go!

Stupid injuries. There goes Sturm, Savard, Stuart, Mcquaid. Did I forget anyone? Probably. Even though, my B's are still thrashing the Flyers a good one, so hopefully they'll make it to the Conference Finals intact. Either Boston/Pitt or Boston/Habs would be a great matchup, that the Bs could win. Pitt is very overrated. They have poor goaltending, and Crosby isn't producing those monster numbers, and his +/- is very weak (as usual). I love hockey!

Yea its not like Flyers are missing anyone. Its not like they have a had a full team for even a game or two.Oh wait Jeff Carter who one of the leagues top 10 goal scorers the past two years.Or Gagne who even though is past his prime he is still first line quality.Plus Ian Lapeirrie (SP) who is a great defensive forward.Plus uh Ray Emery has been out for over a month, even though Boosh has been solid Emery is a better goalie.

Yes, it would be a shame. :P I can understand why most people outside of Pittsburgh wouldn't want them to succeed. If I wasn't a fan, I'd be pissed if they made it to the Finals for a third year in a row.

Is it just me or does Sidney look pissed off all the time?

Yes, Sid usually looks pissed. He is extremely competive (all athletes are). Last night's game was very action-packed, but once again, the refs refused to make calls. Just to show I'm not biased, Eaton should have been called for his transgression on Subban which led to Talbot's goal, and I think I need two hands to count the number of times Gonchar commited a penalty last night. It seemed like all the calls (or non-calls) went Pittsburgh's way in the first period and a half, and in the second period and a half Montreal got the calls (or non-calls).

And go Canucks go! I think they're my team to root for in the West.

Yes, Boston is playing very well, but the Flyers are hurting, and you have to laugh when Recchi and Satan are scoring your goals. But hey! A goal is a goal, no matter who scores it, and that's something Pittsburgh isn't doing.

Is Pittsburgh overrated? Yes.

Like him or not, Sidney Crosby is one of the best player left in the Playoffs. You need to ask yourself why he isn't producing. He hasn't stopped being good. Montreal isn't THAT good. Come on! They barely made it into the playoffs. Halak is definitely the key! And those stupid refs who swallow their whistles every year during the playoffs. Every team is affected. It just seems like the superstars (Ovechkin, Crosby, etc) are the ones that sometimes suffer the most. Good teams can overcome those things. I don't know if Pittsburgh, like Washington, is a good enough team to do that. The Penguins will lose the series if Crosby cannot find a way to start producing, regardless of the circumstances.

Fantastic win by the Flyers to keep themselves alive, and the Blackhawks exploded (for goals) last night. Holy crap!

As far as tonight goes, go Pens! I'm heading down to the game. It's my second playoff game of the year. Let's hope Crosby and Malkin start earning the 8.7 million we pay each of them.

I'm jealous. The only time I get to see the Wings play is when they are playing against the Avalanche and I happen to be in the Denver area (which is not often because it is 6 hours away).

Hopefully Howard can put together back-to-back nights of good goaltending and the Mule continues to dominate.

I got to see the Red Wings play the Predators in the playoffs the last year the Wings won the Cup. Playoff hockey is so intense, its a totally different sport. One day, I'm going to take my wife and daughter to Detroit to see them in a home game. If I can ever convince her to go that is, for some reason, she thinks Detroit is a dangerous city.

edit - it may not have been the last time they won the Cup. But I do know that I saw them play the Predators in the playoffs, I'm just not too good with dates. I could always go dig up my ticket stub to find out, but I'm lazy.

I went to Joe Louis Arena once when I was younger. It would've been during the early 90's, not that it matters. It was also when I first saw Steve Yzerman play. Other than Mario Lemieux, he was my favorite player at the time.

I'm about 30 minutes or so from downtown Pittsburgh. It depends on the traffic, though. I usually only get to 2-3 games a year because tickets are so dang expensive. My brother-in-law scored these tickets so all I have to do is buy him a beer (or four). Come to think of it, maybe I should just offer to pay for the ticket instead. ;)

With the way beer prices are at games you might have come out better just buying your ticket. Penns won though so it must have been a good night.

Buying the beer was slightly cheaper. I had a great time, but it certainly helped that they won. Now let's see if the Pens can avoid a Game 7 by winning in Montreal. It'll be tough, though.

4-0

Wow what a lack of class by Savard and Lucic. They double teamed Richards.I thought Boston was better than that, apparently not.
