NHL Thread III

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1179631-nhl-thread-ii/page__st__200 was at the post-count.

I'm very excited to the Bruins get in to the 3rd round against Tampa, but losing Bergeron to concussion, at least for a few games (but probably more) is a huge problem. In my opinion, Bergeron is the best all-around player on the team, a good playmaker, good scorer, and great defensive-forward.

The western conference is still shaping up though....

One rule or situation in hockey I have always hated is when a team is going to be getting a powerplay due to a delayed penalty and they score, that powerplay magically disappears.

I havent really payed much attention to this round of the playoffs, not interested in any of the teams and the games I have seen have been kind of boring.

Indeed, the 2nd round has been quite sleepy, compared to the 1st round. Two rather boring sweeps in the East (save game 2 of the Bs/Flyers) and the West is also practically wrapped up.

At least you guys get to watch the games. The only games I could watch regularly here, are the Coyotes. And when you're a Bruins/Devils fan, well, you're screwed.

Watched Canucks/Predators game; Vancouver's got a ton of talent but Luongo can't seem to keep them in the game.

That's because Joe Thornton is a jerk. I hope he loses, but it'd be even sweeter if he lost to the Bruins...

Hard to blame Luongo for many of the goals against in this series... The real culprits have a 'C' and 'A' on their jerseys... Mebbe watching Kesler play like a man possessed will encourage the Sedin twins to try as well.

I think that the Sedins are overrated.

Why because he left your beloved Boston?

I always have liked him, plus their name and jersey have always been the best.

It's nice to be productive during the regular season but if the Sedins don't produce more and play better in their own end to prevent opposing goals they will inevitably find themselves replacing Joe Thornton with the "playoff disappearer" label.

He's an underachiever for a #1 overall. He left Boston. He can't play well in the playoffs (although this year he might have things on track). He's not as gritty as everyone made him out to be. I'm just sour because everyone was comparing him to Neely when he first got drafted, and

And I hate the Sharks jerseys. They're too new-agey, with crappy colors, and a weird symbol. No no no.

Their jerseys are ok to me, I just hate the attitude most fans around San Jose have. I would be optimistic too if my team made it to the playoffs several years in a row, but every time the Sharks win their division the fans around San Jose act as if they've already won the cup and every year when I told them that the playoffs begin anew and that the regular season no longer matters, I'm told "it's a different team this year".

Then of course if you've ever watched a Sharks home broadcast you'd know that Hahn (play by play) and Remenda (color) are amongst the biggest whiner announcers in the league, and I've seen 'em all a multitude of times over.

As for Thornton the guy has a WICKED pass and can score when he wants to (in his best seasons he's a lot like Iginla and Lucic in their prime, can score, playmake, and fight), but he picked up the old "Fedorov" attitude instead -- one that goes something like I-can-score-at-will-and-be-a-playmaker-all-the-same-but-I'll-do-the-minimum-it-takes-and-coast-because-people-are-less-skilled-than-I-am.

He's a good player, but I don't like him. When I was little, I had the newspaper clipping from when the Bruins drafted him on my wall. He let me down when he was in Boston, and he left me down by leaving.

Not entirely, but going into Game 4 down 3-0 and looking like you don't give a damn after the first three games is really a sore sight.

Even in Game 5 down 3-1 the Wings looked like they were ready to mail it in and suddenly decided they wanted to win, especially Datsyuk. Kinda nerve wracking at times and occasionally the spark under their ass gets lit a little bit too late. Hard to motivate people who've been there and back several times over.

Last night was at my uncle in law's house (all Canadiens fans so you know very opinionated) to watch the game and went in my Lidstrom Winter Classic jersey which was good luck in the past. Fully expected to take [censored] for it if the Wings repeating last season bowing out in 5 but they surprised me and showed up.

Said all along if the team that walked all over Phoenix shows up they can easily win this series but sometimes the team that showed up for games 1-3 appears and it sinks you. For better or worse, haven't missed a game and don't stop cheering til it's over. :)

Odds are still very much against the Wings to win two more but if the team that I saw for games 4 and 5 appears it's definitely possible.

Edit: Damn iPod touch messing with my paragraph structure. <.<

I have not watched a Wings game yet this year so I just have to keep checking ESPN Scorecenter on my phone. I was checking it about every 3 minutes last night even though I get a text message with score updates after every period. I think this series will go to 7 games.

The Wings looked like Game 1-3 in the first and part of the second period. Then they picked it up and Pavel lead the way creating chances. Mule got hurt in a collision with Joe Thornton (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxzB8fgXeUE) who corkscrewed him onto his bad ankle, and I'm not sure if he's going to play for Game 6. If not, then Modano or Hudler should be in.
