As a long time hockey fan, I haven't really paid much attention in the last few years. They took the history away from NHL to appease Americans. I can't believe Gary Bettmen thinks Americans are so stupid that the divisions have to be east, west, north east etc, instead of Norris, Smythe etc etc.

I didn't watch the allstar game. But at least it was different. I tried to watch the all star game, but it's so Pathetic. It's a game for forwards, not goalies and defencement. No hitting or bodychecking so nobody gets hurt, you really can't call that a game.

It's like this, You are a defence man, it's bascially. "here pass on my, over there is Mr Golie". Come on 12-11 I think the score was? Yes I know my beloved Maple Leafs don't know what a defencive game is, but I Swear they look at past Allstar games for their tips.

Sadly looks like Boston is going to get another high draft pick choice again. I wonder if I will ever see the Maple Leafs with The Lords Stanley Cup. (kudos if you get it.)

*edit* It is pretty bad, when I read the first post in the thread, that is started with pre-season. I was like WTF?! We only on page 7 and NHL started 3 months ago? :shocking: :banghead: Geeze my wrestling thread is already on page 5 or 6 and I made it a few days ago. Did the NHL Hockey really sink this low? :sadvaultboy:

What did everyone think of the superhero thing? Someone I know made a good point: It still won't sell tickets in Phoenix.

Kopitar had one of the nicer goals at eh game in my opinion :D The game would be better if the D and well, everyone actually tried. I'm not even talking about contact, but I watch the D let the forwards walk around them every time and it becomes less exciting IMO.

Exactly. I want to see D-Men prove they are there for more then just being "conservative forwards". Like Mike Green. Never got why he is D. He seems to forget he is as well sometimes, with the way he plays in his end.

I still enjoy the skills competition, except that stupid "Creative Shootout". Unnecessary IMO.

It doesn't, but it hasn't always been this way. The lockout a few years ago really hurt, and the lack of major television coverage hurts even more. The NFL has taken over the States, but the NBA and MLB still give it a good run for it's money. Baseball is on a rise right now, despite having to dust itself off due the steroid era. The NBA somehow hangs around despite putting a bad product on the court. The main reason is due to accessibility. The NHL's network deal is with Versus and NBC. Versus isn't available to everyone and NBC only shows a very limited number of games. If the NHL were to get a deal with ESPN or another major network they would be better off. They just don't seem to be doing enough to allow the fans to enjoy their product. That's my two cents anyway.

Agreed 100%, the NHL is a muchbetter league than the NBA.I honestly can't see what is so enjoyable when you watched over stacked teams face D-League talent. Add the fact that when some of these guys are not on the court they are doing some extremely questionable or illegial actions. A big named American born player would also help, there are no American versions of Ovechkin or Crosby. I would also like to see some pointless franchies like the Panthers and Yotes moved to more hoceky friendly areas. It has gained popularity in recent years but the NHL needs and deserves much more respect than it gets.

An ugly game right now, I am starting to fear Tampa. Steve Stamkos is so damn good.

I would love to see the Flyers get another winger to add to Ricahrds on the first line. The whole Nodl, Carcillo and Zherdev thing isn't working.Nodl is a top AHL player, Carcillo is a bum fighet who takes tupid penalties.Shelly can take the role of enforcer just fine.Zherdev is a good talent but her forgets the other 4 guys he plays with.

They also need to work on thier PP, one of the worst in the league but somehow they are the highest scoring team in the NHL.

The Bruins, Stars game. Oh man. 3 fights in for seconds. campbell lost, but Thornton and Mcquaid, two of my favorite bruins fighters got into it. Lucic score a goal 35 seconds in and then about a minute later Bergeron gets one. Bergeron and Thorton also scored two goals. and Ference got into a fight after someone took a slapshot after the whistle was blown.

Also IT'S ONLY BEEN 1 PERIOD.

Cut the deficit to one and then give up two more goals. Nicely done.

Not sure if the Leafs played tonight, but, My beloved Leafs are UNBEATEN after the all star break. :D So where we go again, thinking they might make the playoffs but of course will not and give Boston another good or great 1st round draft pick.

I believe they beat the 'Canes 3-0.

I detest the Leafs but I have to admit, you Leaf fans are loyal. Stupidly loyal actually. Honestly, after so many years of not being able to put up a decent team, I'd be fed up as a fan. I undertsand the whole "Gotta support the team!" thing but they have been so consistently terrible in drafting, developing and managing/coaching that it makes me angry when they put the blame on the players. Ron WIlson doesn't know [censored] IMO and the whole tough-guy-don't-be-nice-to-media thing is so old from it by now it just makes him look like a tool. Seriously, Tortorella (SP?) is the only coach in the league who can pull off the pissed-off-guy style. Maybe Boudreau, but he's more f a friendly-giant-with-dirty-mouth kinda guy :P

Well Colin Campbell and company managed to once again make a joke out of the leagues disciplinary methods. Guy gets auto 10 games for coming to his goalie but Cooke, a repeat offender for dirty, career threatening hits, only gets 4?

Something seems amiss there, and it doesn't help that Campbell just looks dumb when you look at him but he's really proving his case now. The league is going backwards, not forward, in its methods of disciplining players in a good, fair method.
