I was just about to post it. You beat me to it. Now I have to wonder if Brian will trade our First round pick for something else now. You know it kinda feels wierd that we have a first round pick. :D

So happy they have another foward, its what they needed so badlye.Richards was basically playing by himself and had no consistent line mates. Richards,Carter,Giroux,Briere,Hartnell,Lieno, Zherdev, vanRiemsdyk and now Versteeg?Sounds like the deepest line up in the league.

I think he's finally gotten off his high horse and done the mature thing that the Oilers have done: realize they aren't going to be winning any Cups for at least 5 years and won't be making the playoffs for at least the next two or three years (not counting this one). It's a problem the Leafs seem to have constantly, as they claw their way to 9th or 10th eight seasons in a row but refuse to say "Alright, lets wipe the slate, get some prospects (stop trading them away for Versteeg  ) and rely on drafting well and developing even better.

Miller, your Flyers indeed do look pretty sixy right now. Not enough to beat my Kings apparently :D

Well the Flyers finally beat Tampa and in a shoot out.THe flyers developed a good system against thier 1-3-1, sit back and give yourself some space. It sure gave the Tampa fans plenty of reasons to boo.Kimmo Timonen scored a nice one that gave them the lead.Versteeg's first game was so so.He had some nice plays and hustled the entire time but he also made some bad plays. He looks like he needs a bit of time to get use to the team but things should wrk out.

Looks like Boston got some too. Finally the Leafs deal Kaberle to Boston for the Bruins first-round pick in 2011; 6-foot-6 forward Joe Colborne and a conditional pick in 2012. The conditional pick reportedly becomes a second rounder if Kaberle, a pending unrestricted free agent, either: a) re-signs with the Bruins or B) helps Boston reach the Stanley Cup final.

So now the Leafs have 2 first round draft picks for 2011. So will be interesting to see if we actually have them or not. At least now we can build for the future and no more short term quick fixes. Damn, the Leafs do this ever year. Only 6 or 8 points from a playoff spot. I don't think we will make it, but damn the hope. ARGH!

Kaberle did a hell of a job on the power play last night. It'll be nice to see what he can do on the B's.

The Bruins are a much better team now, and I'm excited for the end of the season now. If Thomas gets back in stride, they could really make a strong run at the cup. Their defense has been solid all year, and their scoring has been so balanced that I feel they're one of the most balanced teams in the league. They have two lines that can compete with any team's top line and two of the best defense-men in the league in Chara and Kaberle, and the league's best goalie in Thomas.

Also, I'd like to make my case for Marchand for Rookie of the Year. He's top 5 in rookies in points, but head-and-shoulders above the rest in +/- stats. He has more shorthanded points than anyone in the league. It's guys like Marchand (3rd rounder who spend 2 years in the AHL) that make me not feel so bad about sending a 1st round pick to Toronto. Marchand is one of our best players this year, much better than Seguin- all because of good development. Think of how good Seguin (or any other mediocre 1st rounder) could be if he spent a year or two developing.

The only problem I see Kaberlee coming in for Boston, is he could break up the chemistry the Boston D had before he showed up. I agree Kaberle will add alot for Boston and hopefully he will gell fast with the Boston D.
I don't think he deserved the Flack he got here in Toronto. Then again, people still have memories of how selfish Sundin was, and how Toronto got nothing for him in return. I guess we just didn't want to see it again.

I would love to see Boston win, and Kaberle how the Cup in his hands. He does deserve it.

Well, the chemistry that the Bruins Defense had was primarily 5 on 5 defensive chemistry. The Bruins are the best 5 on 5 team in the league (statistically) but none of their defenseman is an offensive stand-out, Chara included. So I'm not really sure what chemistry is actually going to be lost. What's gained, of course, is the Powerplay, which, to be honest, didn't look all that improved on Friday night. To be fair, Kaberle didn't practice with the team, so his comfort level isn't up to speed yet.

With Kaberle, I'm more worried that he's a little too offensively minded for Claude Julien's system. Even most of the Bruins forwards think defense first. If Kaberle gets too eager to impress offensively, I think it could leave some gaps in our defense.

That stated, they're a much improved team.

It pains me to say it, but I see Philly as the team to beat in the east. The Penguins are decimated by injuries, and Washington doesn't look like they are playing well at all. The Flyers have a really good shot at returning to the Finals again. [I can't believe I just said all that]

Yea that's a tough sentiment, but I agree. The east in general has suffered some bad injuries in general, but the Flyers still chug along. What are your thoughts on Tampa maybe making a run? Their goaltending is awful, but they're offense is potent. On the other hand, maybe the Bruins could give the Flyers a battle, if their offense gets a little more consistent.

Right now I would say on those two teams would put up a fight, more from Tampa though.Even though the FLyers beat them in the last game Tampa has had thier number this season.Boston has the only defense that could stop Philly right now.

As much as I'd love to see a disappointed Crosby or Malkin, or either of them plastered on the ice from a crushing hit at any given moment, I wouldn't count Pittsburgh out yet. People did this a few seasons back, then they got healthy for the playoffs, and look where they ended up..

The heritage classic game was, I suppose, a good spirited game from intent but it was mostly boring. It seemed players were too concerned with the ice surface so much that they played a very conservative game and there was virtually no physicality to it. This season I'm likely to just be a very conservative viewer 'til playoff time.

ANY team has the ability to do well in the playoffs (as long as they get in). Look at last year: Washington was red-hot! If I were a betting man, I would have put money on them to win it all. Once Montreal defeated them, all eyes turned to Pittsburgh. There was NO way Montreal could beat the Capitals and the Penguins! The Pens had an easy road to the Conference finals and perhaps another trip to the Stanley Cup Finals! We all know what happened from there...

What I'm trying to say is any team has a legitimate shot once they are in. Could the Capitals get things going and make a run? Yes. Could the Pens find their way without Malkin and perhaps Crosby? Maybe. As of right now, Philly has put themselves in a really good position, but just like last year, nothing is guaranteed. Boston has a chance and so does Tampa Bay. My only concern with the Lightening is their lack of goal-tending. Even high-powered offenses have a tough time in the playoffs when their goaltenders don't perform well.

Haha! I grew up in Pittsburgh and still live there now. I've followed and loved the Penguins since 1984 (Lemieux's first year) so I am about as optimistic as they come; however, if Crosby does not come back from his concussion in time for the playoffs, I think Pittsburgh will have a tough time winning even a single round.

I don't envy the Pens management with the trade deadline coming. If Crosby is coming back, then the team has a shot at making a good run. They could make some trade to offset the loss of Malkin (as long as they don't give away too much future talent). If Crosby isn't coming back, I wouldn't make any significant moves. I'd write this year off - I'm not saying to give up and not try, but don't try to pull off a Hossa-like trade from a few years ago - get healthy, and make a possible run next year. The problem is no one, including Sid, knows if Crosby will be back this year and be effective.

The Flyers know this too well, however Boucher has come into his own this season and Bob is a solid young goalie who certianly can handle his own.
