I figure since we are into preseason in the NHL that it's time for a hockey discussion thread.
GO BRUINS!

Go the team that beat the Bruins in a monumental comeback!!!

Flyers look ever better.Still worried about the Net minder but they improved their D and gave it a lot of depth.Offensively they have gotten better too.Yea they lost Gagne but in the end they got Zherdev and possibly Guerin. With arguably the best defense and a top 5 offense they have a shot at finishing what they started last year.

I wouldn't call it a comeback, I'd call it a massive breakdown by the B's. :cold: :sadvaultboy:

The Wild look terrible this offseason so far. Winless :-(. Hopefully this isn't an indication of how the season will go. I'm doing fantasy hockey again this year. Pretty happy with my draft this year. What do you guys think of my team? I lucked out and got the 2nd overall pick this year.

Its purely a forwards/defenseman/goalies league. No wings or anything. I don't really know anything about Bergeron though. I just picked him because I thought the Bruins were gonna go far this year :P He pretty good?

The same team who beat America who thought they were gonna go all the way, if I'm not mistaken ^_^

He did make it and proceeded to play three minutes a game. But naw, amongst regular non-Canadian hockey gods, he's alright on the ice.....

I'm hoping my Kings will make it past the first round this year and my man Kopitar will have to have an even bigger season than last year. I wish he'd play both ends of the ice though as thats what I think the sign of a great player is.

I joke Miller, because I remember giving you a hard time in the Olympics thread :D

Don't remind me of that horrible moment :sadvaultboy:

I thought Carter should of made the team over him but whatever,

As for the Kings they are one of my favorites from the West.

Alright on the ice? you must not know much about hockey then. Bergeron is easily a 65/70+ point scorer when he's healthy. Dirty hits are killing him. Replace at least Mason Raymond with him. He's one of the best 3-way players in hockey.

Ladies and gentlemen meet the future of goal tending http://flyers.nhl.com/club/player.htm?id=8475683&view=stats. Through out the pre-season so far he had made some amazing saves. I give him a year in the AHL but by next season he should easily be the starter.

Having played and watched hockey from before i could run, I like to think I have a modest grasp on the game of hockey. I was merely poking fun at him because during the Olympics, I saw two live Canada games (against Germany and then the gold medal game) and the only time he played in that gold medal game was when the face off was in the defensive end on the right side because he was their only right handed center I believe. He played maybe 3 or 4 minutes a game all tournament and while I know he is good I was poking fun mostly at the fact that, while in the 'Chell he is good, on that Canadian team, he was merely a minor league player compared to everyone else on that team.

Does anyone here think Matt Cooke deserves to get what is coming to him? I personally think he is disgusting, as the hit on Savard wasn't the first time he had done the same thing to some Russian-sounding player a few years ago. He's someone I'd like to catch with his head down coming across the blue line... :chaos:

To simplify that Johnny, I was making a joke.

He did make that absolutely nasty save when a puck was rolling into the empty net...

Matt Cooke is gonna get completely lit up in their first game against the Bruins.

Right now The Carolina Hurricanes of the NHL are playing SKA St-Petersburg of the KHL in a cross league match. And SKA is winning 1-0 right now!

The NHL is streaming the game: http://atdhe.net/10076/watch-carolina-hurricanes-vs-ska-st-petersburg

So much for those who said the NHL is way superior to the Russian league....

GOAL!

2-0 SKA!

Man, it looks more and more like the Canes are receiving a punishment worthy of Apollo Creed getting massacred by Ivan Draco in Rocky 4!

EDIT: Final Score, 5-3 SKA. All in all it was a very fun match for an exhibition game.

I enjoy the fact the European team won actually. Its a completely different game over there, than we are used to here in North America. Here, intimidation is a huge part of the game and is proven by the fact teams sign big hunks of meat that call themselves hockey players but all they really do is get into fights and call themselves "enforcers".

Over in Europe, I find there is none of that and the games are purely skill and speed, and "finishing your check" (which is something that I find ridiculous) is a foreign concept.

ON a good note, my Kings are looking good so far, though its the pre-season and the Leafs have a winning record.... They win against a Red Wings team who dressed basically an AHL team and everyone thinks they are gonna win the Cup this year...

So the Flyers had a great Pre-season,I don't count the 9-3 loss as the Flyers had their try out team going against the Sabers starters.

not the biggest fan of hockey although I am a Montreal Canadiens fan. Don't get to see a lot of them here in the UK but I caught a game a few years back and just took to them. Hopefully they'll get some games on ESPN America here
