Nick Valentine getting better at hacking?

Post » Mon Jan 18, 2016 7:22 am

is nick (and all the other companions for that matter) getting better at hacking (or their individual "special" skill)?

i hate hacking, and never put one perk in my hacking ability. i understand the mini game, but i hate doing it, so i usually travel with nick, because i can let him do the hacking. my character can hack the easy terminals, but not the medium or expert ones. nick always could do the easy and medium terminals, but not the expert ones. however, yesterday i tried him again on a expert one, and he just did it like he was never doing anything else.

haven't tried another one since then, but could it be he got better at hacking? do companions level up or improve on their specialities?

Nick is capable of hacking any computer just like Cait is capable of picking any lock. Higher tiers just take longer. Personally, I think that Strong should be capable of picking any lock as well through the old-fashioned method.

no, i tried several times using nick on expert terminals. he tries and tries and mumbles something about protocols, then gives up because he can't do it.

nah, even at lvl 57 i still want around 10-15 perks way more than hacking. i don't care if i find a terminal i can not hack, usually i just miss out on some ammo and useless gear.

Its a percentge chance he'll succeed on expert and master level hacking i believe. Sometimes he fails. Sometimes he dont.

Speaking of which, where are our damned lock-bash feature we've been waiting for since FO3? We have plenty of explosives that should take care of most locks. Mods, I guess.

I'm planning on not making a hacker character next time. It would be nice to be able to play the game without taking the same skills, sorry, PERKS, over and over again.
