NifSkope bug

Post » Mon Feb 14, 2011 1:28 am

I have a very strange nifskope bug.

I can't open 2 windows at the same time(it seems), any solutions??.

I am running windows 7(if that is important)

Any symptom? Or does it just not do anything when you use File/New Widow from the menu?

Does it matter whether you attempt to open a new window from the existing one, or launch a second instance from the Programs menu?

One thing I can rule out is video memory. I can launch multiple windows on an old 1GHz system that has only an 8MB video card! (It just can't load many textures, and I often get white models when the map's too large).

Well, when i have 1 window, and then double click another nifskope file to open a second window i see the computer loading it for 2 seconds or so and then the loading circle goes away and nothing happens.

Try the New Window option in the one that's open. You may get a pop-up that tells you what the problem is.

One thing to note is that NifSkope uses OpenGL for its graphic displays, whereas the game itself does it all with DirectX. I have had broken video drivers that cause problems for NifSkope and not for the game/CS (or vice versa) and right now I run NifSkope on another machine because of that. You may want to update your video drivers in case that's the issue, but beware of breaking the game itself!
