NifSkope oR GECK or MY ERROR

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 1:30 pm

Hey, well i have this model right, a mid floor(TOP AND BOTTOM) i cut a hole in it, a square one, ok so i load it into nifskope and create a new window, Then i load the one BEFORE the cut, copy the NiTrStips(PROB WRONG) and Paste it in the one without the cut, and then delete the one without the cut, I save it then in the geck i go Static -> Create New, i then load the model(With that renderer) but nothing shows, like its not there, i load a default one and its there, is it me or the programs.

If you could get back to me ASAP regarding this matter,

Thanks Persidon Advanced Scripter for Project C.H.A.I.S

Don't bump threads. Doing so can get your thread locked. The GECK forum is relatively slow paced, so wait several hours before giving a nudge.

As mentioned in the PM I just sent, the best way here is to upload the model somewhere and give us a link. Once we put it into Nifskope, it will be immediately clear what went wrong (I hope).

Howdy!

I just took a look at the model and it's basically fubar, it doesn't look like your first attempt at making the model worked out well - but don't be discouraged, it takes time.

My advice is to do the following:

1. Always have a Good working model open in a copy of Nifskope so that you can see how the higherarchy is supposed to be.

2. I would try again at making a model, but use a very simple one this time - its better to master the process using Beer bottles, Ashtrays and Boxes before you get into the complex stuff.

3. Work through the process very slowly, making sure that at each step you copy/paste into the exact right order within the NIF file. You will definitely make mistakes and have to start over before you get it right. If you keep at it, you will eventually produce a NIF that has the exact same look in Nifskope as the Ashtray - and it is That one which will work.

Now with that said, here are some specific things I saw with the model:

A. You have BSSShaderPPLightingProperty at the root level, same as BSFadeNode - this cannot be, the BSFadeNode must always be the top-most level or root. If you paste anything and it shows up at the root level, right-click it and choose "Block" then "Remove Branch" to clear it out so you can try again.

B. When you have multiple NiTriStrips, they all need to be at the same level as one-another. If they don't, the order is wrong and you'll need to delete and try again.

C. Your bhkCollisionObject is also not looking right, you'll need to work this process step-by-step again.

The important thing to remember is that the screenshots in the tutorial show the exact higherarchy, which your models will need to imitate to work. Take your time, once you get it right once it will get Alot easier and you'll actually start to have fun. Once you master making models with single NiTriStrips (like Ashtrays), you can start working on models with multiple tri-strips.

Lastly, I highly recommend that you download Artisten's Video Tutorial (link is in the Tutorial), as it walks you through the Exact process (just without audio). This is critical because you see where the mouse clicks go, and when to do what.

Try a few more and send me links, I'll check em out. :)

Luck!

Hey its my pleasure - Artisten and I created those tutorials for the specific purpose of helping others. :)

Modelling is definitely a patience-game, but once you get your first successful model in the game its an incredible feeling. :celebration:

Of course, the Universal Eraser - Control-Z.

If your too far along to undo it, you'll have to reload.

I have just uploaded my finished Product from the video tutorial, It woks lol, im pretty happy, now im just going to start all over again until i have the hang of it, witch i hope will be soon, after i completed it, i said to my self, wow that was easy once i was done.

Ok, i have a question.

Why do i have to open the ashtray in nifskope, then add all my stuff to it, doesn't bethesda just make them, or do they apply the same process?

Also i have just uploaded it to the nexus, @ http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12625

Now im going to try make another simple mesh

Thanks Persidon

Press N with your mouse in the 3D section of Blender and press N to bring up the translation and rotation box. Be sure you are in Object Mode before trying to recenter the center point of an object.

Ah ok, ive chosen to cut holes in my meshes using Gmax, witch is the easiest way to make holes in a mesh, im making all my(Some) of my meshes in gmax then fine tuniing them in blender like Echolite replied to a IM earlier today.

I have just Made a mesh un gmax and fine tuned it in blender,

Actually its the original mesh that started this topic, and to all, i say thanks for your time

I will post here when i run into some more errors, Because i will, because im not 100% yet lol

Here is the link to the mesh, There is just one thing, the collision mesh scaled out wrong so you will fall through it lol, A must Fix

Also are there any good animation tutorials for blender?

Because thats what i need for the mesh - Part two, i sliding door type thing, like in Point Look out in the light house lol
