Any class can stealth. Nightblade's invisibility is extremely limited in your situation. It isn't going to be like WoW's rogue, where you can stealth around sapping/stunning people until help comes. Once you are out of stealth, you will likely stay that way.
I don't have enough experience, nor do I think those who do are going to be able to give solid info (things change at higher levels, things could change in the base game build between now and launch). I'd say templar would probably be better. Still have access to stealth, but also access to heals without resto staff. Pretty sure templar is one of the more popular choices in PvP.
There are no cds in the game, you can hit shadowcloak again and again as long as you have the mana, while running away, go behind a tree and crouch to stealth. Add the path of darkness speed boost and you get an even better thing than a wow rogue's vanish.
A non-nightblade can't really do that and once exposed, he's indeed stuck exposed.
the best race for every concept is Orc duh...
my Orc infiltrator will be so awesome, and this isnt true at all
because i will find people who are solo and gank them until they cry bloody tears, screw castle sieges
the racial bonuses are minimal there isnt much difference so you can play your favourite race thats the point of it
Yep same here. There is plenty of solo action in Cyrodiil, there will be tons of quest locations where you can gank. You don't have to go join the main zergfest.
I love how some classes are really strong at 1v1, as that's my favorite things to do in MMOs. Unlike wow, who introduced arena, focused pvp around it and screwed over 1v1 fun in favor of some synergy playstyle in a staged pvp environment ruled by team composition and gear aka the fountain of frustration aka Arena, pvp in TESO is not revolving around the [censored] arena but around very large battles, where your 1v1 OP as hell build doesn't make any impact whatsoever. So even if you're a duel god, you aren't making your team OP in anyway, in fact you aren't even that useful to your team in a zergfest with your heavy focus on escapes as zergfests are about damage and mass cc, not individual escapes. This is why I don't believe the classes will be tweaked for random 1v1 pvp, and what's OP will remain OP.
Well that depends if you pvp alone or in a group. If you are alone in Cyrodiil and hunting players then that is pretty solo. I use to solo pvp in DAoC and to great effect, I can't see any reason why people wont be doing solo pvp in this game.
As a player I don't care about being emperor though and I do not see this as being the pinnacle of the game, nor is getting to level 50. My crowning moment to the game would be to play and enjoy it like I do with Skyrim and Oblivion and to RP with fellow gamers within this world.
I don't care about your scores or leagues I just want to have fun doing what I do.
It's true that everybody can play anything, but it's wrong, that this leads to equal effectiveness.
A archetype class supporting stealth mechanics, like the nightblade, is logically increasing the effectiveness for this playing style. Enhanced with racial bonuses which empower this playing style leads to even more effectiveness.
In values I'll pick "carnage" and "stealthy" as racial advantages and skills from nightblade like (http://tamrielfoundry.com/nightblade/):
[Passive] Master Assassin - Deal increased damage while stealthed or invisible. Successful sneak attacks stun for longer. => So everybody can sneak, but only NB will have this increased damage bonus.
[Passive] Pressure Points - Increases the Nightblade's critical strike chance for every Assassination ability on their current hotbar. => Even more crit for Ninja-Carnage-Cats!
[Active] Shadow Cloak - Gain invisibility for a short duration. => Vanish for ESO! Not available for any other class.
[Ultimate] Consuming Darkness - An AoE snare that renders the Nightblade invisibile. => Again steath in combat!
[Active] Veiled Strike - Deals increased damage and stun enemies. Requires Stealth. => Stun out of stealth, so here it is: Cheap Shot!
[Passive] Shadow Barrier - Take less damage after coming out of stealth or invisibility => Defensive ability, NB only after stealth.
[Passive] Dark Veil - Increase duration of Shadow abilities => More duration for vanish (2,5sec is the basis, with this skill, a bit more), NB only.
Those exmaples, together with racial advantages, should more than logically display, that anything CAN be played, but NOT all classes/races WILL have the same effectiveness. Some race/class combinations are clearly on top.
There is no doubt that a stealthy playstyle fits better to a Ninja-Cat than to an Orc Sorcerer. This seriously is nothing we should have to discuss, this is ridiculous.
Couple things to point out:
Khajiit crit and damage bonus is melee only. The majority of hard hitting nightblade attacks are magic damage. The race is slightly better if using melee as their primary. That is it and likely equals taking a more magicka based race who can then use magicka based powers more easily.
I also fail to see why so many still think nightblade = melee stealther. That is one VERY specific build and reflects a lack understanding how the game works.
Shadow cloak is only 2.5 seconds because there is no cooldown. It is utility for stamina based players but if you specialize in magicka (i.e. a nightblade light armor mage) it can be used very often and cast 5 or more times in a row and they can easily gain magicka back with a much higher regen rate, siphoning strikes toggle and Equilibrium. It becomes a powerful tool for casters who cannot stealth well outside of it but just a minor utility for melee nightblades.
