Night Mothers Embrace

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:20 am

Trisha smiled slightly Iryanil, "Brother," she said to him with a small nod. She had never liked Iryanil due to his boring nature and his lack of faith in Sithis. He never seemed to like to talk about anything other than academics and always came across as a typical smug Altmer.

But despite all of that he was still her brother and that would not change until one of them was dead. "You seem well rested, that is good considering that Arquen may have a contract for you. The worst thing in the world is to take an assignment when you only get a few hours of sleep. I remember the last time I did that, walked right in to a guard and almost got myself killed. I was lucky that he was slow."

She smiled at that memory. "Anyway I`m probably boring you. You should talk with Arquen and see if she has anything for you."

OOC: Me and Jerod should get talking about that this weekend. Renal is going to have a meeting. Be ready. Sorry for short post, i am in a hurry

IC:
Renal as worried, but he knew Gerrard had a reputation, and that he would probably live up to it once more. Renal was steady, but worried. The very thought of a traitor.....

"Arquen, here is my report. Daggerfall is all as well, but we have a problem."

The Listener was standing there in the evil darkness, which seemed to be lurking. The only thing that dwned light were the torches, for you could feel the void in the midst. He was sure the Listener could hear him. She would be very concerned.

"There is a traitor among us."

Trisha eyed Renal suspiciously. A traitor? she thought. Trisha could see the concern in the man's eyes. She thought about the fact of another traitor in the Brotherhood. How is it that we are so unlucky to have another traitor?

She wondered if the Night Mother knew of this traitor as well. She had known of Mathieu Bellamont even before he had come to join the Brotherhood. So did she know of this new traitor and was simply waiting for someone in the Brotherhood to find it out for themselves and kill them like she had?

Trisha stepped out of the shadows and strode towards Renal. "How did you come across this information?"

OOC: dont got a lot of time

IC:

"I reported to Sentinel last week, and it seems some of our brothers have been killed, I also took reports in the Imperial City. The count, Farwil, has planned to send a letter to Ocato, or, Adamus Phillada's son. I need to take two officials to help me on my next report. The guard captain of this city also needs to be exterminated. Farwil is naive, he isn't submitting to bribes and threats like his father."

Renal looked around, not sure if the traitor came from the Cheydinhall sanctuary, he spoke in a quiet voice,

"Listener, I do not know everything about this matter, but further reports should point to either a low or high ranking official. We must know if the other sanctuary's locations are out. I suggest we hold a meeting."

Trisha mulled everything over in her mind. The Sentinal sanctuary is gone. she thought, How could this happen without anyone knowing? Trisha looked around at all of her Brothers. Any one of them could be a traitor ready to kill one of the Brothers in their sleep or slip a poisoned apple onto their plate. "Arquen, Markus, Renal, to my room now. The rest of you continue with what you were doing." Trisha strode to her room with Arquen on her heels.

After the cleansing Trisha had inherited Vicente Valteri's old apartments and all of his possesions. Trisha pushed open the large and heavy doors and quickly seated herself at the small table in the corner of the room. Arquen seated herslef across from Trisha. "Now," Trisha began, her voice cold and hard, "Any of you three could be the traitor for all I know, or any of our Brothers out there. Whoever it is will have no mercy from me, I can assure you of that." Trisha looked around at the two men and Arquen.

"First we must check the report to the other sanctuaries and inform them of the pressence of a traitor if they are not all dead already." She turned to Renal. "How is it that you know that the sanctuary in Sentinel is gone? Did you go inside? Did you see the bodies?"

Gerrard, only half-asleep, had heard everything that was being said. "A traitor?" he wondered silently. "Our time here has most certainly been eventful." Quietly, he rose from his bed and went over to a table where a pen and ink were set, took out a piece of parchment, and wrote a note:

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The news of a traitor disturbs me. At the time of this writing I have set off to warn some of the other sanctuaries of the danger. I should be back soon if you need me.

- Gerrard.

He set the note in front of a nearby candle providing enough illumination to read in the quiet darkness of the sanctuary, and slipped out into the breaking dawn.

OOC: Renal is going to study them on his next report. Two people need to accompany him, perhaps Gerrard could accompany him. One is going to be in the Imperial City Sewers. One is in a house in Leyawin. One is in an abandoned mine near Skingrad. One is a cave in the mountains east of Bruma. I think those locations should fit perfectly.

IC:

"Not everyone is dead. Some low ranking officials were back-stabbed in an assassination, and the Listener of the province was killed by Imperial guards. One made it back severely injured, and had the Listener's weapon. For all I know, something is starting to go down in all of Tamriel. The Empire is done tolerating us. I also caught a messenger dead on the road from Cheydinhall to the Imperial City. He had a letter telling Ocato that the Count was going to give him more information on the Brotherhood. Also, Phillada's son is conducting an investigation. I do not have much information on it, but this is no joke. We do not have much time, if Ocato knows...then we must kill him. We also must rid the brotherhood of this traitor. It could be any member in Cyrodil, but I know, if there is more than one traitor, the source is in Cyrodil. It could be a low ranking official, but it seems they know much information, so it is most likely a high ranking one. I need to take two people on my report, we must investigate this more."

Renal peered through the dim light, which bounced into the room quietly. You could feel the Void, but more, you could feel deception, a traitor....

The other member's faces were dim, they looked not only worried, but terrified. Could they suffer the same fate as Leyawin or Sentinel?

OOC: Gerrard being Gerrard, it'd be more in-character for him to go alone. The IC one is the closest, so let's go with that.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gerrard walked through the streets of Cheydinhal, down the road, and out the gates, where a coachman was parked. "Driver!" he announced, dropping a bag of money at the driver's feet. "Take me to the Imperial City."

Getting in the back of the coach, Gerrard watched as the horses walked down the road to the capital. Gerrard had his weapons concealed and wearing his civilian clothes, but he carried a poisoned apple with him just in case. At last, the cart stopped in front of the city gates. Gerrard dropped from his seat and went in. Quietly, casting his chameleon spell, he ducked into a nearby manhole and climbed into the sewers, where one of the sactuaries was.

The smell in the sewers was evil, but Gerrard covered his nose with his coat and strode to the door leading into the sanctuary. He gave it a few knocks, then said the password. The door opened.

"Brothers, I am Gerrard Benton of our Cheydinhal base. There's a traitor on the loose." he said.

OOC: Me and Durza talked and I will RP the speaker inside of the sewer sanctuary, unless somebody else wants to do it. I will post later. edit: Here is my OOC, I may use Ares as a character, he is a speaker. Jerod, I may not have a sheet for him, but I willl do some description.

IC:

"Hello brother, name's Ares, Speaker of this sanctuary, what brings you here? I know of the traitor."

The Dunmer glared at Gerrard. He was actually fond of Bretons, and welcomed his fellow brothers. He was suspicious and and knew of the traitor. He hoped to tell Gerrard all he had to offer.

The Dunmer was tall, wore a black ponytail and had several tatoos. He wore black leather armor instead of robes, for with the news of the traitor, he didn't want to be identified as a speaker. His bladeis supposedly a silver shortsword, but its color is black, for it was cursed by a lich, and is literally poisonous itself. He was very muscular, his black figure looking bold in the small blades of light that were swimming through the darkness of the Void. Ares had a long scar down his face, and looked about 36 years old. Some of the members of his sanctuary had been killed by the works of the traitor, and he was very protective of them.

"Greetings, Ares. I've come from the Cheydinhal sanctuary, on a mission to discover more about the traitor so we can put a stop to him before he kills again. Tell me everything you know." Gerrard smiled to himself. He placed his hand into his tobacco pouch and offered a plug to the Dunmer. "Care for some tobacco? I usually don't share this with anyone, but I can make exceptions for Speakers and those with valuable knowledge. And those that are both." He chuckled a bit at his own comment, though not loud enough to disturb the others.

OOC: Sorry for the dialogue post and no character sheet Jerod, I figured the description was enough.

EDIT: Renal is waiting for reply

Ares, Imperial City Sewers

"I hate tobacco, but if you wish to know, I shall tell you. I am disguising myself as a lower member, one of my silencer's and two executioners went missing last week. I sent some murderers to check on the situation.....they found, eh, the executioners head...nothing else...I have had contact with the Bruma sanctuary, they are fine as officials go, but some murderers have been hunted down. I do not know what is becoming of this. I do have one interesting piece of information for you though. Some of my assassins and eliminators reported that the fighter's guild has been given mysterious contracts. They are being paid to kill us. My men have managed to take some of them out though. The Legion has sent battle mages through all of Tamriel, looking for our members and sanctuaries. The Morag Tong had even helped the Imperium in Morrowind, in hopes of being un-outlawed in the rest of Tamriel. Valenwood is well. We have been able to blend with their poor economic system. Perhaps I should return with you and speak to Trisha. Let us go."

The Dunmer went over to one of the silencers and said something quietly. He motioned Gerrard toward a back tunnel, which lead straight to Ares' basemant.

Gerrard looked puzzled. "Hmm." he muttered. "Sounds like we have quite the situation here. Yes, why don't we go speak with my Listener. She should know what to do in this kind of matter." Gerrard strode in behind Ares, following him.

"There's just one thing I ask of you." he turned to the Speaker. "Would you happen to know anything about the traitor's identity, perhaps?"

OOC: Ares to me, looks like a static character, so I'll accept that. And dialogue posts are okay, just as long as they have some meat on em'.

IC:

This doesn't feel right... The black scaled lizard thought to himself as he remained frozen in the center of the room. Something about the house in general spat something strange at Kim, the door wasn't even locked. Rule number one on protecting your house from thieves was to always lock your door, though the lock would be pointless against a professional robber.
Sodie sniffed the air cautiously, before proceeding into a smaller add on, leading to a small kitchen/dining area. As he proceeded to a small cupboard on the wall, a strange whip through the sent a chill down his spine. He mistakenly turned around, seeing if there was anyone behind him, he could've sworn he felt someone walk right by him. Slowly, the Argonian turned back to the cupboard, It couldn't have been wind-, almost immediately, his internal radar began sounding off like mad, and before he could react, Kim felt an invisible force collide into his face.

The hit sent Kim back a few steps, What on Nirn was that?!, he regained his footing, and rubbed the side of his snout. He looked every across the room, trying to find the source of what had hit him. There was nothing, or at least it seemed that way. Sodie felt another hit, this time harder and in his stomach, then another hit smashed into his back, and he toppled to the floor. Before him, a figure slowly materialized into reality, showing off a small ring with his index finger and thumb. ''I suppose it's a good thing I bought this ring...'' he said, and Kim automatically recognized his voice. The man was Fredrick Vines; a very religious Imperial that had recently moved into Cheydinhal, and very quickly developed a religious hate against Kim. Vines put the ring in his vest pocket and knelt down beside Kim. ''I've finally caught you, demon'' He chuckled victoriously like a hunter with a successful hunt. Sodie remained on the ground, seemingly to look as if he submitted into the will of Fredrick.
He made a mistake by trying to grab Kim's neck with his large hands, there, the lizard lunged out and bit into one of Vines hands like a slaughterfish. The Imperial screamed loudly in pain, as he leaped back, forcing his hand out of Kim's iron mouth, ''You pathetic sewer rat!'' He yelped as he cradled his wound, ''I'll kill you!''.

Kim jumped to his feet, trying to prepare himself for anything that would happen, he felt scared, a cold sweat began to break in his forehead. This had never happened before, most of the time people could not see him at all. Fredrick, out of anger, roared ferocious like some sort of demented creature and charged. Without thinking, Kim extended his foot and kicked Vines square in the chest; sending the Imperial stumbling backwards at a surprisingly fast speed. The black-scaled street urchin could only watch as Fredrick stumbled and fell backwards, slamming his head into a wooden counter behind him. A loud crack and blood dripping from the back of Fredrick's head told Kim that he was dead. Kim stood, not entirely sure wither to faint, throw up or scream, or all three options at the same time. He had broken many laws before, but murder was a new one for him. He backed slowly out of the small kitchen, and using his remaining strength, he bolted to the front door.

Loosing almost all grip on reality, Kim mistakenly left the house in a hurry, a guard patrolling the vicinity stopped. ''You, halt!'' He called to the young argonian, then broke into a jog as Kim began to run. Kim had always been a fast runner, so outrunning the Guard was fairly simple. The guard gave up the small chase after a few seconds, then turned to the small home Sodie had just left, and with caution, he entered slowly.

Kim continued to run as far as his legs could take him, until he came across a two-story house, and climbed up it's wooden shingles with ease. Once he reached the top, he collapsed on the roof, staying as quiet as possible. After a few minutes, he heard someone yelling, probably a Guard, and loud armored footsteps running down the street, Kim's crime had already been discovered. The small Argonian curled into a small ball, hiding his snout agaisnt his thighs. What am I going to do...?

-------------------------------------------------------

IC: Eric stumbled through the streets of Cheydinhal tiredly. His eyes were heavy with fatigue after the long run to the old city. He was recently given orders to transfer to Cheydinhal from Chorral, and the journey, followed by the immediate duties that he was faced with, wiped him out. Namely, he had three piles of paperwork, and needed to familiarize himself with the town. Now, after a long break at the tavern, a visit to the guilds, and a talk with the armorer, Eric planned to retire to his new quarters in the castle. His room, if one would call it that, was a closet sized area, barely capable of fitting a bed and a chest. Yet that oversized closet was the most appealing thing to him, ever. In his exhausted state he was blocking out any and all distractions, focusing only upon the short road to the castle. Had he been more awake, or even slightly more aware of his surroundings he may have noticed the moving shadows, or the dark figures bolting between patches of darkness, behind houses and over fences. He may have even noticed the watchful eyes of a creature who was concealed upon a roof. But, with his weariness to blame, he noticed none of these things. Maybe, just maybe if he had known about the dangers that lurked in the darkness things might have turned out differently. His life, however, was preserved for another night, atop those of his past thirty-three years, and such a thing was not to change.

OOC: Renal is waiting for response. I will include later in the plot that some interesting things. You shall see. After Renal and everyone meets, I plan to go to Leyawin, but we will see. And Jerod, if you don't eat your meat, then you don't get no puddin'. Ares and Gerreard shouldn't get back until a while. This post is kind of crappy, but, it will do. I am not in the mood to post, but I must.

IC:

Ares and his companion proceeded out of the tunnel. It would be a long journey to the city.

"I do not know much, Renal stopped by and gave me some information. Perhaps we could put it together. I plan to check this Leyawin rumor later. The traitor must be a high ranking official. I believe though, we may have one thing wrong. Gerrard, Renal is a great assassin, and is full of knowledge, but he is a little young. His report was marvelous, but he has missed one thing. I believe this isn't a traitor. It is a conspiracy. It is a traitor, but he has many that do his bidding. This is serious. We will check the Leyawin sanctuary tomorrow. I do not have anything on the traitor's personal identity, but further reports should show. I do know one thing though, the traitor has a rather, interesting relationship with the Imperials. I am sure the official is up there in the ranks. I suggest one thing besides infiltration and reporting. We need to do a background check on every possible traitor in the Brotherhood.

IC: "Very well Renal, you shall what you wish. You may take Markus and..." she thought hard for a moment, "Mathew, he doesn't take to many contracts so this will be good for him. Arquen and I will stay here and ensure that this sanctuary is safe while you three are gone. No Brother shall die while I am here." Trisha stood and crossed the room and plucked a bottle of wine and a glass from her cupboard and poured herself a glass.

OOC: I feel left out, so I am taking the initiative.

IC: Iryanil saw Trisha, Arquen, and Renal go into the room that once belonged to Ocheeva and considered the things that they had just said. 'A traitor? How interesting, perhaps I might be able to find him, maybe even advance in rank!' Iryanil smiled at the thought.

He opened the door slowly, and saw the three looking grave inside. He heard the words "While you are out there stick together as much as possible, it will be easier to defend yourselves if you are together." Presumedly spoke by Trisha, as Iryanil thought it sounded much like her, but he couldn't be sure because he had only met the new members of the sanctuary recently. He had been away in Morrowind ever since the first cleansing, and now he feared there would be another, and he wouldn't be allowed to take part. 'How dreadful that would be...

"Ah, hello there. I couldn't help but overhear, and, ah, I was wondering. Renal, would you happen to need a third person to help you on your journey?" Iryanil approached the table, with a worried smile on his face, he fumbled with the enchanted saber at his belt, and he had an idea.

"Here, take this. I procured it recently, it should serve you well." He proffered the cutlass to Renal himself, but, realizing Trisha would be the one to decide whether or not he went, he let it hover between the two of them. "Ah..."

Trisha thought hard whether to let Iryanil go with Renal. To do so would put one more of her brothers in danger but it would provide better security to the other three. "You may go Iryanil." she said finally, "Renal you may take the sword as I have no use for it."

She turned back to Renal, "Go now Renal, and please, be carfeful"

Edit: Lets get this kickin' with some lucky charms.

IC:

Renal looked about through the mere darkness. The two carried out their conversation. Renal was thinking about if the count was dead. If everyone in the room that stood upon him would die as a horrible criminal with no honor.

He is a bit immature, but, perhaps he could be of some use to us. After all, he would hide our identities.

"Listener, take your saber. I have my own, rather astonishing blade. You will need it. I also suggest it is time you tell me of any secret trapdoors I do not know of. If the legion shows up on our doorstep, you can hide from them, and escape through the well in the void of the night. Sithis will guide you."

Renal thought some of the newest members thought this was going to be some kind of party or storybook adventure. It was going to be a rather, one of those- you could get mutilated and skinned days.

Imperial Isle, Sewer Exit

Gerrard and his companion strode out of the sewers, now exiting through one of the gates opening to the Isle's beaches. "Then," said Gerrard, "I shall return to my sanctuary. I will see if I can find anything suspicious among my co-workers. You, Ares, you should survey yours, and tell any other Speakers to do the same should you cross paths with them." Upon finishing his briefing, Gerrard spun around and faced the Speaker, stopping in his tracks.

"However, sir, I do request that you provide me with the fees to pay a coach back to Cheydinhal. The road is long and I am sure I will not be able to make it back in a night's time. I spent all the money I took to get here, so how does a trade sound? You can give me the money for my return, and you can have this." Gerrard handed the poisoned apple he brought with him over to Ares. "You may need this in such times." The Breton then stood silently, waiting for Ares to return the favour.
