Night Sky Problem

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:21 am

Heya :wavey:

Gotten myself some new computer parts, so I figured to install QTP3 and All Natural etc. It's running great, there is but one problem. The nightsky... I have installed Better Nightsky and Enhanced Nightsky to try fix the problem, which is either a mesh or a texture problem maybe?

Here is how it looks: http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk225/Zanctillia/Oblivion%20Bugs/ScreenShot0-2.jpg?t=1301943302

I also have another problem, think it came after installing MTAEVWD. I found that even though I have a better PC, there are limits... MTAEVWD didn't work well, had major lagg. So I uninstalled it, had no readme on how to do it. So I just did what was said in AEVWD, to delete the whole DistantLOD folder and all "_far" files in the mesh folder. I could not find any "lowres" folder in textures, so I didn't do anything there. But after this was done, I noticed while running in the wildernes that I got lagspikes once in a while. Seems like it has something to do with loading the LOD. It doesn't spike all the time, I can go about very detailed terrain and run easily lagfree through. But once in a while randomly it spikes. Can this have something to do with me having installed MTAEVWD and uninstalling it?

Kind regards, Zanctillia :)

The night sky issue might be due to incompatibilities between the sky mods you've installed and All Natural.

As for MTAEVWD, it's not worth using if you already have http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20053 unless you want to add some rocks to the distant landscape, in which case there are http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=33635 you can get instead. It doesn't cover all the rocks MTAEVWD does, but really anything more is overkill and not worth it. There's really no reason to use MTAEVWD unless you have a computer from the future. Use RAEVWD.

To uninstall anything remaining you're going to have to go through the MTAEVWD archive and find which folders it adds _far nifs to, and delete the corresponding files in your own Data folder. It's a hassle, but uninstalling things manually is the only option it sounds like.

Nope, AN is compatible with texture mods. Aside from that though, it looks like you've got much bigger problems than a simple compatibility thing going on... Make sure your BSAs are being loaded and that you're using BSA Redirection.

Have no clue what BSA Redirection is. As for the crash between All Natural and the Night Sky mods the issue came after installing All Natural, most likely... The Night Sky mods was installed after the issue was known, to try see if it solved anything.

Think I'll go through the MTAEVWD folder, drag over all the files individualy and copy/replace the files again. This time deleting them before unselecting them :goodjob:

Aren't there mods that mess with the sky beyond just replacing textures? That's what I was referring to, but maybe those don't exist or otherwise aren't the mods in question, and either way it's apparently not the issue.

If you're using OBMM, go Utilities->Archive Invalidation. It's pretty essential if you're replacing vanilla content, it basically tells the game what files to use, and if it's referencing files that are no longer there you'll get missing textures like that pink sky.

That's exactly what I do in situations like this, it's a lot easier than going through the files one-by-one and trying to delete them. I should have suggested it originally, but apparently you're clever enough, hehe.

Oh yes, archive invalidation... BSA Redirect is probably just another word for it? I've done that, but maybe theres many ways of doing it, there are some options to choose from. This might be what's the problem :)

Choose BSA redirection in the OBMM option.

Choose BSA redirection in the OBMM option.

Choose it only? Should I include "Pack Faces..." ?

I also found a folder while looking through were I have "All Natural" on my External: All_Natural_Sky_Texture_Fix

It replaces some sky textures from Natural Environments.

But I guess I'll try BSA redirect first.

I can confirm 100% that All natural {AN} and Night sky fire and Ice, work together no problems. have had Both in my FCOM install for almost 2 years!

I use :
All natural 1.2
Night Sky Fire and ice= 2.0

For Night sky . are you picking only ONE of the color choices? and not putting all the files in the directory?

Edit for clarity.....Pick one Folder for Blue or Red Nebula and place skynebula01.dds file in Your Sky folder:

Choose between Blue, Red or Green Masser and place files in Your Sky folder: each folder has 8 or so files.

I use BETTER NIGHTSKY v1.2 (Replaces only Moons) and Enhanced Nightsky Version: 1.0

But the problem came before installing these mods. I installed them to try fix the problem.

Edit: Also, Fire and Ice have a Version 3.0 now :foodndrink:
