Nightblade Tank?

Post » Sun Feb 16, 2014 7:05 pm

Was wondering if anyone saw a benefit in going medium armor Nightblade to tank.

Before anyone flames me for or says it doesn't make sense ... just going to say...

I can see how a group of stealthy individuals may want a tank that can sneak with the best of them. Or you may want a stealthy/tanky character for PvP, for ambushing AND survivability.

I realize that tanking would probably be a last resort thing, but can anyone see any benefits Nightblade may have TOWARDS tanking? just curious.

Siphon seems nice, but other than that?

Beauty of ESO, this is viable I have thought of it myself....granted I think it would favor pvp more then pve but will have to do some trial an error with it. Bottom line for me I say go for it...

I plan on using the Nightblade class to make a "Dark Knight" type tank off all the dark magic type moves the class will have. However it will be heavy armor/weapon & shield.

But I am very curious to see how an agile tank build would play out, so I say go for it.

I tried this in beta and it didn't work to well, the stam regen from heavy armor was nice though.

Maybe I was doing it wrong but I ended up switching to duel wield after level 12ish.

Eh, I already tried it in a previous beta. Enjoyed it, going to give it another go.

Heavy armor doesn't have stamina regen so maybe you meant medium armor?

Light Armor gets caster related buffs like mana cost reduction and improved mana regeneration.

Medium Armor gets Stamina Regen, avoidance, and Crit Damage and Chance.

Heavy Armor gets Health Regen, Extra Armor, and Improved Block.

I was actually able to cap out my Armor Class at low levels without the addition of a shield in all WHITE Heavy Armor while using a 2handed sword. I would assume that medium armor with a shield and the right set up / abilities could come close.

The extra Stamina Regen from medium should help with blocking more, meaning you might be able to tank in medium armor to some degree via the use of your shield.

Properly using block / bash / roll should help mitigate a lot of damage by itself. Throw in a few class abilities that regen life or improve damage reduction / avoidance and you might be able to tank in Medium armor.

I think of it like this: PURE tank = heavy armor + sheild. DECENT tank = heavy armor without a shield. Moderate Tank = Medium with a shield. Poor tank = Medium without a shield. [censored] tank = Light with a shield, totally squishy = light with no shield.

Think of it as a kind of gradient and see where you want to fit in.

On the other hand you can go for overcharging your stats and try to squeeze out as much possible armor as you can and go heavy armor sorcerer with a shield and use your armor buff spells. Dunno how that would work but would be fun to try lol.

One of my mates went tank with it, used medium armor and duels. With him tanking the mobs never stayed up long enough to be an issur even on bosses, I was healing and he would throw an off heal in and we never had an issue. Maybe with spike dmg it could be ruff with shield would just need to see.
