I'll be starting a new RP character as a nightblade send to skyrim to investigate and write a report on the civil war. But I'd like to know more. The few books I read show them as some sort of agent/spy and IIRC its common for the High Rock kingdoms to employ nightblades.

There is not much more about it they are just stealth people who use some magic to sneak . They are not some special organization , nor is there any special training.

In short they are no diffrent then just common spy.

Yeah, the Mystery of Talara basically portrays as some kind of Imperial Special Ops, so I'd read that if you haven't already.
