Nine Divines and 17 Daedric Lords

Post » Thu Aug 26, 2010 9:04 am

Finally, I chose Hircine from his Daedric peers, because out of all the Daedra lords, I think he would be the most trustworthy. While the others seem to have alterior motives for everything they do, or have hidden intentions, Hircine is purely focused on the hunt. I feel like he's the only Daedra somebody could really learn to understand, and I have a certain respect for his hunter mentality.

Oh this is the reason Hircine always gets #2 on my favorite Daedra prince list.

Why does everyone love Sheogorath? Is it because of the shivering isles?
Hircine is much better

I'd have to say because he was covered much more. The one's people remember tend to be their favorites, really only lore buffs know the 9 well, and many of the daedra aren't even seen by the casual player, ie hermaeus mora ><. Most will always vote for sheogorath, akatosh or talos, and decide whether they like gods that show themselves or ones that don't. Really those are the determining factors: knowledge of the gods and preference of godly demeanor (show themselves or not).

I couldn't resist succumbing to the same factors I talked about, I just love sheogorath, even before SI came out. Wabbajack made me laugh when I read it. Don't know too much bout the 9, but I prefer the 8 and 1, really. Don't like the idea of mortals ascending, especially because it feels like egyptian mythology to me, Talos the king could have easily told people "I am a God now! All hail the god-king!"

PS Lore guys, gotta love ya, please don't tear apart anything I say without warning me ><. Thanks ^^

Becuase the more documentation on a certain subject means greater chances that more people will like it.

Case in point: Make a Favourite Race poll. Watch what happens with the Dunmer.

I liked Sheogorath's style way before Oblivion was released. I mean, come on, killing a Bull Netch with a fork? That guy's got some kind of crazy style, that's for sure. And then there's his Oblivion quest opening lines: "I could turn you into a puddle. Or a bad idea. I could make you eat your own fingers, or fall in love with a cloud" (IMO it sounds a lot better without SI installed, the SI Sheogorath voice doesn't do those lines justice).

EDIT: To be fair, before I played Oblivion, Azura was my favorite, and she still ranks highly with me as my second favorite. The others tend to shift around depending on the day and/or my mood

I like the Daedric Lords. My favourite is Hircine, but I also like Arkay, the God of the cycle of Life and Death.

My favourite is Azura if daedric lords existed I would worship Azura as my god.

out of the nine divines Kynareth due to my love for nature and animals.

I hate all the daedra lords. Take away all their power, and they're nothing but 5 year olds with a bad temper tantrum. The Nine Divines are nothing but gods built on elvish thought and a petty compromise.

no one said gods had to be nice, shining examples for mortals. They certainly don't care that you don't care that I don't care that they don't care, so don't even bother.

PS That's why Sheogorath is my favorite XD

(Sorry, I need to do a silly post every once in a while ><)

Sheogorath. I'm not even taking SI into account, because Sheogorath will always be the redheaded banker looking avatar from Daggerfall to me.

Akatosh because he is damned awesome, and Sanguine because I can relate to his mindset (not the whole serious depravity stuff, but the hedonistic side of things...)

Oh yeah, and I prefer Daedra. They interact with the world truely. Aedra are weak! /RP

If the Missing God were not, well, Missing from this poll, I'd vote for him. Thus instead, I voted Mortals in his honor.

I can't say I have a great love for any of the Nine. They all seem to represent institutionalization for the sake of institutionalization. Arkay I like best, for the explicit endorsemant of death as a necessary part of the cycle. Even the Empire itself must one day die, to make way for younger, stronger institutions.

I don't like the Daedra much either, since they represent destabilization for its own sake. Rebellion for its own sake; destruction for its own sake; corruption for its own sake; even the hunt for its own sake. While all these things have their place, their avatars must be restrained from their natural inclinations. Though I must say, I have a fondness for Vaernima. I have long been skilled in deflecting nightmares, and am drawn by the test she represents.

No, I prefer the middle path of the middle world, that of mortals, acknowledging beings of power, using their methods when it is necessary, but retaining independence.

Since Shor/Shezzar/Lorkhan was missing, I chose mortals, Talos due to being the closest thing to Shor, and Peryite because he's the only daedric prince that doesn't strike me the wrong way.

No one has answered my question yet.
WHY DOES EVERYONE LOVE SHEOGORATH?

he is most likely one of the weakest daedric lords. If you were a daedric Lord would you rather be able to crush entire cities with a click of your fingers or just snap some puny mortal's mind?

Maybe because he's funny? or maybe because he's a medium through which people can explore their more crazy thoughts? or possibly because you become sheogorath through the shievering isles quest, although Im pretty sure his popularity was strong even before shivering isles.

who knows :)

Daedric Princes are awesome! They have the coolest worship, shrines, and runes. They give you rewards too!!

Favorite Divine, Talos.

Favorite Daedric Prince, Hircine, god of the hunt. He's just made of awesome, come on guys, werewolves!?! Does it get any better. Ooh, Mehrunes has scamps... Malakash has Ogres (not bad) and Hircine has freaking man-beasts! He also has a sweet spear and he looks really cool. But his worship is awesome too, hunt and bring him the pelts of fallen animals, awesome.

I prefer the One of the Alessian Religion. Gotta love omnipotent beings.

But I like the Divines more than the Daedra Princes. Stendarr is my favorite, if only because of his Nordic aspect of Stuhn. And justice is always awesome.

Out of the Daedra, I like Meridia. If only because she seems to be the nicest of them.

You are looking at this from the wrong perspective.
Crushing a single mans mind and crushing an empire can often be the same thing.

1) Daedric Lords: While a very selfish and dangerous bunch there is no question they are much more interesting than the divines.

2) Akatosh: Golden Dragon of frikkin' time. 'Nuff said.

3) Azura: Lots of interesting facts and tales around her.
