Just a quick fleeting thought. What if a decent sized gang of Vipers tried threatening the town into paying them off in order to keep the gang out?

I know it is just a relatively short dealio, but the Vipers could give them say...a day or two to think it over before they return for an answer?

Ok people, we need some focus in this RP and maybe a "main plot", some villain that wants to take over the town and we can band together to fight him/them, something.

Also, economy:

First, I suggest we kick Jack out of the store and give it to Peter and his family. He and his wife can run it and Nipton will actually have a store! This will draw outsiders in and caravans. Peter just has to be a good merchant and make deals with the various caravan companies and traders etc.

Second, during our evening community dinner, we can discuss the council and nominate a mayor.

Third, how are we and the town going to make money?

* Doc will charge to fix up patients (50 caps for injuries, 50 caps to cure addictions, 100 caps to get rid of rads - just like in game. Ace has earned a few freebies, since he provided Cat with med supplies LOL)
* Store will bring in profits
* Bar will bring in profits
* Mayor should charge a small amount of caps from everyone. Those will be used to buy building materials, pay guards, pay workers and I guess the Mayor can take a % for his/her pay.

And for goodness sake, someone turn off the water in the store before it's all ruined! LOL And enough with the fumes. I say, we carry the boxes with the shrooms outside and bury them!

William can fix up weapons, so he can probabaly be the weapons merchant there.

Ryan and Alexander should meet to have nostalgic memories on their days as rangers...

Along with that William will join up also if you want.

I came up with a sort of bill of rights / charter for our town, something small to start out with that can be expanded with your feedback.

We the new citizens of Nipton, in a time of need, have come together to write down these here our laws. Nipton desolate and set apart from the world owes allegiance to no one. Nipton is sacred neutral ground upon which, whom you owe allegiance does not matter. Our citizens have left their lives behind and begun a new. The forge of friendship and strength is what will make us prosper. Here it will not matte who your old masters were, what matters is what the future holds. We the citizens of Nipton, hereby adopt this charter to rule and govern the future of our town:

Nipton Bill of Rights;
This government has been created to protect the governed, not the governing. In order to provide the public with full and accurate information, to promote efficient administration management, to make government more accountable, and to insure to persons fair and equitable treatment, the following rights are guaranteed:

• Convenient Access: Every person has the right to transact Town business with a minimum of personal inconvenience. It shall be the duty of the Mayor (1), the town council (5) and the town manager (1) to provide, within budget limitations, reasonably convenient access to public utilities, place for registration and voting, and for transacting business within the town
  
• Truth in Government: No town official shall knowingly furnish false information on any public mater, nor knowingly omit significant facts when giving requested information to a citizen of our town.
  
• Right to be Heard: As long as orderly conduct of public business may be maintained, any citizen has the right to appear before the town council to voice his concerns regarding any public matter involving the town. The Council shall schedule a convenient time for any citizen to be heard, and shall adopt and agenda procedure and schedule hearings in a manner that will enhance the opportunity for public participation.
  
• Right to order: The council shall elect a sheriff at the recommendation of the Mayor. Such sheriff, will be tasked with keeping law and order in our town and shall be entitled to a number of deputies that will be determined by budgetary constraints. The Council with the recommendation of both the Mayor and Sheriff shall determine a holding area to keep those that break the laws.
  
• Right to fair process: It shall be the duty of the Sheriff and deputies to keep the peace and to arrest, when deemed necessary, anyone that breaks the law. Such person shall be sent to the holding area and will appear before the Council to be prosecuted. A council will determine the fate of the unlawful citizen and will set upon judgment that fits the crime. In order to ensure fair trial, once council member will serve as prosecutor and one will serve as defendant. The remaining three shall act as judge and jury.
