Nipton Rebuilt Thread Fourteen

One has always been told that if you do not learn from your past you are doomed to repeat it. However, what if by some chance history is meant to repeat itself, even if one were to change variables. Nipton is such a place, a place where the people are different yet things repeat. What if it was just one giant cycle that was meant to repeat itself? The town was ravished and destroyed by the Legion despising what they considered filth and sin. The courier passed by the town after its demise and pitied those that suffered but in reality he did not care, he was apathetic to the concern of those around him and soon that would be shown when the second battle of Hoover Dam took place.

Soon a group of people, with no ties to each other’s past came together to the desolated town, to create a life of their own. As they grew and formed lives in the tiny town and rebuilt it, things became eerily familiar. Soon, the vices of the past became to resurface and things seemed to repeat again. Soon history became the present and the present became the past. However similar things became, life went on. The small crossroads town would soon become the center of attention. Everyone wanted it for themselves yet none could control it, only it citizens could.

After discovering the town was rebuilt, the new Caesar sent his men to ensure it would burn but the NCR assisted the citizens. Yet the NCR Colonel threatened and soon after ransacked the town, he tried to wipe it from the earth and build upon its ashes his own vision of a town. Yet the citizens of Nipton refused to be beaten, and fought the bear until it was on its knees retreating. This fighting spirit envelopes those that live in the town and drives them to live on and fight for their livelihood. Nipton is where a new life can be built, but will you be able to resist its draw, or will you repeat the actions of those before you?

Reggie Makovich-Littlehorn - Night-time

Reggie was soaked to the bone, but she could care less, seeing Rachel and Becky was much more important. Sam held her hand and gave a shaky smile as they got closer. Reggie and Sam saw Rachel sleeping in the crib and rushed over showering the child with love and tears. Becky came up and apologized, then her last words stabbed Reggie in the heart, but she said nothing. Sam took Rachel and went back to Reggie’s house; the nanny stared at Reggie for a moment then brushed it off. Reggie took off trying to catch Sam as she briskly walked with Rachel.

Reggie locked the door behind them and was going to ask to hold Rachel for just a moment but Sam just went upstairs. Reggie followed, Sam locked the door behind her though, Reggie put her hand on the door, Thank God the girls are safe.

Reggie walked down the hall to her and Ace’s room, Brandon was sleeping in Reggie’s side. She slid under the covers and snuggled up to Ace with tears of joy, and frustration, “Why did you leave Ace? Ace?” She shook him gently, “wake up Ace, Ace?”

“Why did you just leave us downstairs with Steve? What if he had tried something?” She pressed up against Ace and buried her face on his chest, her wet hair dampening the blankets. “Rachel and Becky are alright, you should see them, they grew so much.”

Reggie got up and removed her wet nightgown and put on a clean and dry one. She dried her hair with a towel, at least it was no longer dripping and returned to bed with Ace, “Do I make you happy Ace?” she whispered as she snuggled up and wrapped her arm around his waist.

Ace Makovich - Home - Night

Ace was fast asleep when he felt someone shaking him and he felt something wet. Ace quickly opened his eyes, he thought that Brandon perhaps wetted the bed. He was startled to see Reggie and to see that she was completely wet.

He looked at Brandon who was fast asleep and then looked at Reggie. She asked him why he had left. It was hard to understand by she was crying. Ace just shrugged his shoulder unable to think of anything to say, he really should've remained but didn't.

She pressed her wet face against his chest and mentioned that Rachel and Becky were okay. He gave her a happy smile and then said to her, "you're wet." He was still waking up and didn't know what to really say. He could really care less about Rachel and her being taken away, although ever since she was taken he suffered by having Sam stay with them, and Reggie spending so much time with her.

Reggie got up to dry herself. She removed her wet town and Ace just stared at her body. He didn't get much of a chance to see her without clothe, and every little glance he enjoyed. She put on another dry town and ace frowned in disappointment.

He laid his head back on the pillow and soon Reggie joined him after she finished drying her hair. She snuggled up to him and wrapped her arm around him and asked him if she made him happy. He looked at her and nodded, he remained silent a bit, "Of course you make me happy we happy three beautiful kids together."

He wrapped his arm around her and kissed he forehead, "I love you...listen don't forget I have a quick trip to New Vegas tomorrow. I'm leaving right before lunch and should be back after dinner time. Just some boring bank stuff. If you need anything, Greg will give you whatever you need at the branch."

He kissed her again. He was hoping that soon enough he would no longer have to see Doctor Usanagi and sneak around Reggie like this. He pulled her closer to him, "Brandon sleeping and...you know we could fool around a bit." He smiled as he looked at her and kissed her nose.

Robert Westford- Stumbling into town

The heat of the mid-day sun was intense in the Mojave sky. "Suiting. Die, like all the hope V.....Ve....Vegas had." Robert mumbled aimlessly. He pulled up the bottle of Scotch from his hand and put it to his mouth. His heart wept as only a trickle touched his tongue, the bottle empty. "Looks.....looks like I need more.....m...more medicine. The sand and hills around him whisped strings of heat. He found a relatively good condition trailer to sleep in to escape the heat and climbed in. He pushed against the back the trailer and stared into empty space. Robert started pvssyring aimlessly, pulling his revolver from his holster, "I.....I should just....do it....pull this trigger. This.....beautiful trigger....and end it all." Tears went down his cheeks as he tried to do it, but much like every time before, he couldn't.

When Robert awoke, he was in New Vegas, the city was gleaming full of casinos, people were smiling and happy, and everyone was happy. He walked inside the Lucky 38 and met Mr. House. Shaking his hand and proud of the service Robert was doing for the city. He looked just like he did in his magazine pictures and holotape interviews, sharp suit, trimmed moustache, combed hair. But the world crumbled beneath his feet as the walls faded to black. "What....What's happening? Please! No! Mr. House the world needs you! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" He screamed, falling, falling through black depths, until his body shattered, impaling on a rocky spike.

Robert awoke with a gasping 'NO!', his body drenched in cold sweat. He looked out to see it was night, off in the distance a coyote was howling a lonely and sorrowful wail. He grunted as he pulled himself out of the car, his face streaked with dirt and a light beard. He was once a proud man, but now he was broken, empty. Looking to a bottle to cure his misery. He came to Vegas to help Mr. House make Vegas like the Pre-War city it looked like in books, but his heart died when he got to Boulder City, when tale of Mr. House being murdered by the Courier. He made it to New Vegas, and it only confirmed it. Mr. House was gone. When he found this 'Courier' had murdered House and took Vegas for himself, Robert swore if he saw the Courier, he'd kill him. And so he waited outside the Lucky 38. Days passed into weeks and no sign of him emerging. Giving up all hope, he left, reduced to wandering as an aimless and broken hearted drunk until death took him.

Robert walked slowly into what appeared to be a small town, Nipton if he recalled properly. His hand rubbed the painful and throbbing temples of his head, trying to fight off in vain the headache. He caught a pedestrian in front of their home and stopped him. He spoke in a quick and cold tone, "You there, point me to the nearest bar." The woman sitting on her porch simply eyed him warily, then said in a soft tone, "Down the road, big hotel, it's got a bar." He said no farewells, no thanks. He simply made his way through town to the building she mentioned. Robert burst through the door of the casino and looked about the casino from the doors. He spotted the only location that mattered, the bar. "You, bartender, give me scotch, five bottles." The man behind the bare looked at Westford with a suspicious gaze and said with mild disbelief, "Five? What are doing? Drowning a sea of fish?" Robert just stared at the man with his cold and grey eyes silently and simply said, "That should round out to fifty caps, here, take it." The barman eyed him with a look of offense at the cold shoulder, but took the caps and produced the alcohol as requested and Robert made his way out of the building.

He wandered aimlessly once more, his alcohol in his rucksack. He stopped at a building with a sign reading 'Nipton Town Hall' and threw himself down on the ground against the wall, and drank a bottle of scotch like it was water, and almost at about halfway through the bottle, he passed out in a drunken stupor, his body sprawled on the ground, bottle in hand and half empty.
