Nirn , a possible axis tilt?

Post » Sun Jun 29, 2014 1:14 am

Since in many fonts , Atmora is described as a once green continent , but according to the overall general disclocation of Tamriel , its deserts , jungles and climatic zones , is pretty much clear that Skyrim ( due also to the aurora phenomena) lies in the far north close to the polar circle , this leaves little room for a continent that is out of a glacial zone.... Wich implies that Atmora covers the North pole .

Withthat in mind then its possible that way back in the past a huge cataclysm shifted the axis of the world moving tamriel from a tropical center to upper north and Atmora from a temperate zone upper tomglacial lands .... This might have happened after some hige earquakes , an astral impact or something else .... Despite the fact that most of those would have wiped out any life form on the planet ..... Its the only thing that come to my mind that could have shifted so greatly the position of the planet axis ....

Perhaps the impact was of a small magnitude or somehow it was limited because of somecontingent factors , so not causing a mass extinction....

So my Lore idea for my own mod was that in distant past an small ice metheor crashed over the Atmora continent causing an axial shift and the continent to sink into an ice age .

Works?

Maybe it was Talos? When he CHIM'ed Cyrodiil's climate, he could swith the axis. Also I wouldn't expect that Mundus behaves and subjects to similar rules like RL planets.

Yeah, that is the big problem with trying to equate Nirn to real world phenomena. You have to keep in mind that the world is literally only 6 - 8 thousand years old (not counting kalpic recurrence) with bits from previous worlds lying around and in the end everything boils down to "because magic".

Yup, I'm fully aware of that. It wouldn't be a far streath if i would say that metaphysic is for Mundus what physic is for us.

Lore methaphisics have the same relevance of ancient earth creation myths... What I seek are plausible answers that could hide behind myths... So if lore says it wad one of the Aedra then this could be transposed to one if the celestial happenings .... Thibk of how Jupiter moves the trajectories of metheors perhaps the metheor hitting Nirn could identify in a wtath of some angry beeing that throws his hammer in Tamriel.
